Hello, I am studying a possible scenario. Let's say I create an App Clip that features a WKWebView. The WKWebView hosts a sort of webapp that uses local storage and IndexDB. When the complete app is installed, are the data persisted so the WKWebView of the complete app finds them as it was reading them before? Are the data transferred by the operating system to a new location but still accessed the same way by the WKWebView (Or even the location is the same because it is the WKWebView special storage)? When the iCloud Passwords Chrome extension is on, there is a 400-500ms lag between clicking on a non-password field and the UI reflecting any changes made by a .on("focus") jQuery listener. We have an app store app that hosts an internal webserver we use as a proxy and it works for a period until iOS 18.3.x decides our cert is no longer valid at which point our customer have reinstall the app. This has only become a problem on iOS18.3. We publish the self-signed with out app, and it is valid and accepted until it's not. We know the cert is valid and our implementation of the local proxy has not changed. If we install a cert on the device and trust it, then the app will start behaving normally again without reinstall. We have a Smart App Banner (including App Clip) on our website and have noticed today that the banner's background color has changed. It no longer has the default white background and blue button color, instead it has a background color that matches our page's background, and even the color of the button has changed. What's interesting is that we have not triggered this change at all. The colors seemingly changed by themselves. Looking at the Apple Documentation, no customization options are mentioned. Searching the web, the theme-color meta tag is mentioned in relation to this, however we haven't even included that tag on our page. What is triggering this color change then and how can we influence it?

On Mac, If the user registers the Password and the Software Authenticator app for a website like PayPal then uses the Safari browser to login the Apple system is creating confusion. The system prompts to use the authenticator autofill for any grid like SMS OTP or even for the Email OTP. That creates confusion for the user as the SMS OTPs or other OTPs cannot be validated by auto filling the Authenticator TOTP. That fails the validation resulting in bad user experience. The system should not prompt the Autofill from the Authenticator app unless the grid box shown on the page was for the Authenticator app.

When a DNR rule is set for a specific URL and the request receives a server-side redirect (e.g., 302) to a different URL that does not match the urlFilter, the rule still seems to apply to the redirected request. We are using macOS 15.4 and Safari 18.4. For example, consider two sequential calls: call1 and call2. call1 triggers a 302 redirect to call2. A DNR rule is created to add a "Cookie" header to call1 based on its URL. Unexpectedly, the same cookie is also added to call2, even though call2's URL does not match the rule's urlFilter. This results in the Set-Cookie response from call1 being ignored, and call2 receiving the manually set cookie instead—leading to incorrect behavior. This issue doesn't occur in Chrome or Firefox, where the rule is not applied to the redirected request if the URL no longer matches. We are looking for assistance in fixing these issues and having our Safari Extension function the same as it does in Firefox and Chrome.

I'm not sure if this is even the right place to ask this, or voice this complaint if there's no fix. If not, please direct me where to go. I'm trying to switch all my development over to Safari, but the tab sidebar is driving me absolutely insane. Let's say I have a bunch of tab groups expanded, and I collapse the sidebar to focus on the webapp I am building. When I toggle to show the sidebar again, every single tab group is collapsed. Why is it 2 clicks to see the tabs in the sidebar? Even with zero tab groups, and just tabs in the workspace, if you collapse the sidebar it'll collapse the list of tabs. Is there some hidden setting for this? Who do we have to complain to?

HI, please can someone help? I have a web app where push notifications are in place for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Providing the user allows notifications then when they log in for the first time their details are registered to the subscriptions table in the backend. All good so far. When trying to do the same with Safari on Mac I'm faced with this issue: "Safari doesn’t support invisible push notifications. Present push notifications to the user immediately after your service worker receives them. If you don’t, Safari revokes the push notification permission for your site." and the user is not registered in the subscription table with the Safari console just saying variations of this: [Warning] Notification permission denied. I cannot remember 100% but I think if you clear your cache and cookies you will be able to receive push messages again if you accidentally get blocked while testing." and I've tried adding buttons to trigger allowing notifications but it all seem to late to get the subscription registered in the subscription table. I'm pretty new to coding so if any has a similar experience and can advice how to get the subscriptions registered when the user logs on for the first time in Safari in a Mac it would be greatly appreciated. We are seeing network errors in Outlook mail on iOS and MacOS safari browsers. As per current investigation, we notice these network error when the user tries to use outlook after leaving it open on Safari for a while. Observations: Issue present in both MacOS and iOS safari. Issue is not present in other webkit browsers like brave and edge on iOS. Issue is reproable on both mini and big owa on safari browser. Issue is not related to post requests being sent in different packets on safari browser. Requests are only blocked for outlook.office/outlook.live domains What does not fix this issue? I would like to know if there is a way to disable Smart Punctuation from the webpage rather than requiring the user to do so from the settings. Adding a "inputmode=verbatim" attribute to the input HTML tags for my webpage did that for all the web browsers I tested on Windows, Ubuntu, Android, and MacOS. I tested Chrome and Firefox on all platforms, as well as Edge on Windows and Safari on Mac and iOS. So far the only time it did not disable Smart Punctuation was on Safari on iOS, but it did on MacOS.

In the Safari browser on mobile devices, the tags in an HTML element are styled with the system's default styles. I want the text inside the tags to be displayed without line breaks. However, in reality, the text wraps according to its length. May I ask if there are any methods to achieve this? (ps: CSS-related properties such as white-space: nowrap do not work.)

Good morning fellow developers, For a while i am struggeling with providing sound to my users on IOS (Safari on Mac is no problem and every other device is not a problem) (we have an existing phone system and made a chat as well), the case is very simple: the notification sound is only for users who are logged in and online for chat. i have tried multiple things: Audio play with javascript (start with mute, play when user clicks a button so the sound is familiar, play when user clicks a button and directly pause it and continue when needed) PWA: the dashboard has been made available as pwa and notifications using google firebase. The popup does show for notifcations to be allowed (and receiving the notifications does work on any other device) But any IOS device cannot register. The information i find is that notifications were supported with 16.4 or higher but also have been deprecated around IOS 17, auto play is not allowed. We have an app in development for our product as well were we will have a notification which will handle this, but that is not the solution we can use now. Long story, short question: is it still somehow possible to push a notification to the user when using the PWA or play a sound in the browser (based on an ajax function). The app/website wont be in the background, so it will always be on the screen. Languages we use: html/javascript (mostly vanilla)/php
