Hello. We are adding a Safari extension to our app and we have some questions about communication between the app and its extension. We have added the nativeMessaging permission to the extension so that it can communicate with the app and communication between both are doing very well. Our question is about the security of communications between the two. How can we be sure the native app communicates well with the correct extension? Can the Safari extension communicate with another native app or can the native app receive messages from another extension?

When the “Use Strong Password?” dialog appears and I select “Not Now” to manually enter my own password, the password I type is displayed in plain text instead of being masked. Since the input field is of type="password", the entered characters should be hidden as is standard for password inputs. Is there a way to prevent this behavior and ensure that the password is properly hidden even after dismissing the strong password suggestion dialog?

As of IOS 18.3, there browser.tabs.create methods active property which is supposed to determine whether a tab get open in the active window or not is not working as it should. I have the active property set to false but the tab still gets opened and is active on the window. Tested on older ios versions 18.2 and below and it works as it should. please advise

We're embedding the Power BI reports into our portal by using JS library. While testing them, we found that mobile layout of the reports don't work as we expect on iOS devices (tested in Chrome and Safari). I am currently developing a Chrome, Firefox and Safari web extension, and I am facing a CSP issue on the content script on Safari. The extension I develop has a content script that injects an img tag in the DOM of web pages the user is visiting. That img tag fetches its content at a specific URL. On Chrome and on Firefox, the img tag content fetches the content at the URL with no issue on every web pages, including those that set the CSP header img-src. On Safari, I'm getting the following error on web sites that set the img-src CSP header: Refused to load https://axxlfrmnpq.cloudimg.io/www.macifavantages.fr/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Garmin-logo.png?func=bound&w=225&h=113 because it does not appear in the img-src directive of the Content Security Policy. In iOS 17, Apple introduced ProxyConfiguration, and I have two questions regarding its usage: Is there a way to use ProxyConfiguration to distinguish between HTTP and HTTPS traffic? As an alternative approach, I am attempting to determine the request scheme within WKWebView and switch proxyConfigurations just before loading the request. I am encountering an issue where we are unable to run or launch Safari Driver in our automation tests using macOS. When attempting to run safaridriver -p 8888 from the terminal, we receive the following error message: ERROR: safaridriver could not launch because it is not configured correctly or you need to authenticate. Hi, I’m working with the SFExtensionProfileKey in my Safari Web Extension. As I understand it, this key is to get the UUID of the profile currently in use. However, it seems to be missing (no key in userInfo) when the default profile is active. Also, I haven’t found any API to get a profile’s human-readable name or list all available profiles. Could someone clarify: If the value of SFExtensionProfileKey is absent, can I safely assume the default profile is in use? Is there a supported way to get a profile’s display name? Hi, We have a native application with a webview part. When we open the app, we load webview resources in a false foreground. The webview communicates with the native part to query local variables, among other things. We have noticed that for the past few weeks, when the biometric component is presented to enter the fingerprint or faceId, while the component is displayed, the webview does not respond. We do not see the calls made by the webview, nor can we respond to them. Even if you open the Safari debugger, the webview does not respond UNTIL you close the biometric component in the native part. This has created a big problem in our app, and we wanted to know if it is an issue you had on your radar. Thank you very much.

My website ccflood.us is a simple map that uses a CSV file for the data that is displayed on the map. It uses the ESRI JS API. Recently the points on the map began missing the text in the boxes only on Apple devices that have been upgraded to iOS 18. Has anyone also had this happen to their site? If you have upgraded to iOS 18, try this site on your iPhone then look at it on an Android phone or your desktop browser. You should seet the values in the boxes and a "+" at points that have no value. If you've had this happen with your site or have heard of a fix, please reply to this post.
