When our Safari Web Extension makes a api request from its background script (registered via "scripts" in manifest.json, e.g., "background": { "scripts": ["js/background.bundle.js"] }) to our authenticated API endpoint (https://api-domain/user), the Cookie header is not included in the request. This occurs only when the extension is running within a non-default Safari User Profile. This causes our API to treat the user as unauthenticated. The exact same extension code, manifest, and API call work correctly (Cookie header is present and user is authenticated) when the extension is running in the Default Safari User Profile.

Cross posting from Spatial Computing, apologies if this is not the appropriate forum. The purpose is to create a simple web-based gallery of spatial photos and videos using static html files. I have successfully displayed spatial photos using the img tag and IMG.heic files. I can tap and hold the image to bring up the contextual menu and from there select View Spatial Photo. Is there any way to add a control to the image, like a link or overlay on the image itself, that a user can simply tap to show the image in 3D? And how to host a (small!) video file on a web page without going through a CDN/streaming service? Sample html would be much appreciated.

Hi everyone, I'm exploring the new app icon appearance options (Clear, Dark, Tinted) for Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) on iOS26, iPadOS26, and macOS26. Currently, PWA icons don't seem to render well with these new appearances, particularly in Clear and Tinted modes, resulting in very very poor visual quality. You can hardly see anything. Has support for these icon appearances been fully implemented for PWAs? If so, could someone point me to the relevant Apple Developer documentation or provide guidance on how to configure PWA icons to support Clear, Dark, and Tinted appearances? I've searched the Apple Developer Forums, Stack Overflow, and Reddit but haven't found clear information on this topic.A possible solution is a png file with transparent areas, but if the pattern is dark, nothing will be visible in dark mode. Bit of an odd one here, just keen to understand if it’s just me or a more generic issue. For all other apps, I can drag the icon from the dock to place into stage manager left, centre or right. However when I try to do the same with Safari (and only Safari), it just doesn’t work at all. I can repeat this 100%, has been an issue with 26.0, 26.1 and now 26.2. Hi, I’m trying to detect whether my Safari Web Extension is running in Safari or Safari Technology Preview. Is there a reliable way to do that? I can get the executable path of the parent process using proc_pidpath(). However, unlike Chrome or Firefox, Safari extensions run under /sbin/launchd as the parent process, not the responsible process (browser’s binary). In this scenario, I need the executable path of the actual browser process, but I haven’t found a way to get it. Also, Safari doesn’t implement the Web Extension API’s browser.runtime.getBrowserInfo(), unlike Firefox. I haven’t tested it yet, but I’m considering checking the user agent string, though I’m not sure how reliable that would be. Use Case Some users use my Safari extension as a web development tool and want to enable some features exclusively in Safari Technology Preview, while using other features only in standard Safari. If I could detect which browser is in use, I could provide the appropriate functionality for them.

We have an app store app that hosts an internal webserver we use as a proxy and it works for a period until iOS 18.3.x decides our cert is no longer valid at which point our customer have reinstall the app. This has only become a problem on iOS18.3. We publish the self-signed with out app, and it is valid and accepted until it's not. We know the cert is valid and our implementation of the local proxy has not changed. If we install a cert on the device and trust it, then the app will start behaving normally again without reinstall. We attempted to perform automated testing (using Python) on an 11th generation iPad (iPad A16) using Selenium 4.38.0, but we were unable to capture webpage screenshots using the function "driver.save_screenshot(filename)". However, this issue did not occur on an iPad Air 4. During our debugging of the "WebDriver.py" script, we found that after issuing the screenshot command, a status value of 500 was returned, accompanied by an "unknown error". We have communicated with the Selenium team and provided the main Python code(https://github.com/SeleniumHQ/selenium/issues/16555). They suggested that the problem likely lies within the SafariWebDriver, rather than in the "remote_webdriver.py" file. Additionally, we tried using the SafariWebDriver provided by Safari Technology Preview, but the problem persisted.

I'm not loving the huge Favorites icons in Safari on MacOS 26, is there a way to reduce the size of them so that we can see more favorites on the list without scrolling down?

I'm trying to switch all my development over to Safari, but the tab sidebar is driving me absolutely insane. Let's say I have a bunch of tab groups expanded, and I collapse the sidebar to focus on the webapp I am building. When I toggle to show the sidebar again, every single tab group is collapsed. Why is it 2 clicks to see the tabs in the sidebar? Even with zero tab groups, and just tabs in the workspace, if you collapse the sidebar it'll collapse the list of tabs. Is there some hidden setting for this? Who do we have to complain to?

Hi everyone, I’m working on a web project developed on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), where we’ve built a custom component that embeds Apple Podcasts episodes using the official iframe provided via https://embed.podcasts.apple.com. Everything works correctly from a rendering point of view, but we are now exploring ways to track user interactions with the embedded player, specifically events such as: start, play, pause, progress milestones (e.g. 25%, 50%, etc.). This data would be used to send analytics events to Adobe Analytics. So far, we haven’t found any documentation or JavaScript API that would allow us to listen to these events. We are currently running a lightweight server within our iOS mobile app to pass a unique device ID via localhost for device-based restrictions. The setup works by binding a user's email to their device ID upon login, and later, when they attempt to log in via a browser, we retrieve this ID by making a request to http://localhost:8086/device-info. However, we're encountering an issue when making this request.
