Sign in with Apple JS inside an iframe
Hi everyone, My web application has two services: myapp.com and account.myapp.com. The first manages all app content, while the latter handles the authentication, with Sign In with Apple included. The tech stack is mainly composed of React, JS, and Express. We'd like to allow users to authenticate inside a dialog on some pages of myapp.com. To avoid replicating stuff from one service to another, we put an iframe inside the dialog to show the authentication standard page from account.myapp.com. Email and Facebook processes work fine, but we have the following issues with Sign in with Apple: On desktop, not Safari, a pop-up window opens when you click on the Apple button, and it works as expected. On desktop Safari, the pop-up window is blocked. We want the native Apple pop-up to show instead of a generic browser new window. On mobile, nothing happens on click Obviously, outside the iframe, everything works as expected. I can't seem to find anything related to an iframe constraint in the Sign in with Apple docs. Is this feasible?

Safari Web Extension service_worker failed to load
I built and extension for chrome, edge, and firefox. I'm porting the chrome extension to safari using the safari-web-extension-converter tool. This has worked successfully and I was able to publish my extension to the app store. I made some updates to the service worker code recently and I'm now being hit with an error when trying to load my unsigned extension into safari: The service_worker script failed to load due to an error. I've looked online at some other forums and haven't found anything helpful around how to debug this kind of error. Because the service worker is non-persistent in safari, I don't have access to the console logs of the service worker through the Develop > Web Extension Background Context menu. Has anyone successfully debugged this kind of error? Are there logs I can pull directly from safari that would help me here? Thanks in advance for the help!

Detecting tabs change in Safari App Extension when switching windows inside validateToolbarItem.
Hi. I'm a developer of Tab Finder (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tab-finder/id6741719894) My problem is that every time i switch from my first window to a second window, the tabs in the validateToolbarItem() are INcorrect on a first call, but when I switch back from the second window to my main window, the tabs are CORRECT even on a first call. To demonstrate it, i recorded a video: https://youtu.be/RwskzrSJ8u0 To run the same sample extension from the video, you can get the code from this GitHub repo: https://github.com/kopyl/test-tabs-change Its only purpose is to log URLs of an active page of all tabs. The SafariExtensionHandler's code of the sample app is very simple: import SafariServices func printOpenTabsHost(in window: SFSafariWindow) async { let tabs = await window.allTabs() log("Logging tabs for a new window: \(window.hashValue)") for tab in tabs { let page = await tab.activePage() let properties = await page?.properties() let url = properties?.url log(url?.absoluteString ?? "No URL") } } class SafariExtensionViewController: SFSafariExtensionViewController { static let shared = SafariExtensionViewController() } class SafariExtensionHandler: SFSafariExtensionHandler { override func validateToolbarItem(in window: SFSafariWindow, validationHandler: @escaping ((Bool, String) -> Void)) { Task { await printOpenTabsHost(in: window) } validationHandler(true, "") } override func popoverViewController() -> SFSafariExtensionViewController { return SafariExtensionViewController.shared } } Could you please tell if i'm missing something and how to see the actual tabs inside the overridden validateToolbarItem call of the SafariExtensionHandler (or in any other way, I'm okay with any implementation as long as it works).

Please Help: WKwebview not allowing background audio playback
I’ve been working on a personal iOS project for fun — essentially a YouTube music player, learning how background media playback works in native iOS apps. After seeing that Musi (a famous music streaming app) can play YouTube audio in the background with the screen off — I got really curious. I’ve been trying to replicate that basic background audio functionality for YouTube embeds using WKWebView. I've spent a crazy amount of time (probably 20 hours) trying to figure this out but have achieved no success. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: -Embedding a YouTube video in a WKWebView -Activating AVAudioSession with .playback and setting .setActive(true) -Adding the UIBackgroundModes key with audio in Info.plist -Adding the NSAppTransportSecurity key to allow arbitrary loads --Testing on a real device (iPhone 14, iOS 18.1 target)-- What happens: Audio plays fine in the foreground. If I exit the app and go to the lock screen quickly enough (less than 3 seconds) after pressing play, I can resume playback briefly from the lock screen — but it doesn’t automatically continue like in Musi and other apps like it. Most of the time, the audio stops when the app is backgrounded. I get this error consistently in the logs: Error acquiring assertion: <Error Domain=RBSServiceErrorDomain Code=1 "(originator doesn't have entitlement com.apple.runningboard.assertions.webkit AND originator doesn't have entitlement com.apple.multitasking.systemappassertions)" It seems like the app lacks some specific entitlements related to WebKit media playback. I don’t have AppDelegate/SceneDelegate (using SwiftUI), but can add if needed. I’m super curious how music streaming apps using youtube as a source get around this — are they doing something different under the hood? A custom player? A SafariViewController trick? Is there a specific way to configure WKWebView to keep playing in the background, or is this a known limitation? Would really appreciate any insight from folks who’ve explored this before or know how apps like Musi pulled it off. Thanks in advance!

Issue with Copy Functionality in WKWebView Using Mac Catalyst
Hello, I am developing a Mac application via Mac Catalyst and encountering an issue with WKWebView. Specifically, I'm loading a webpage (e.g., https://translate.google.com) in WKWebView, but when I press the copy button on the page, the content doesn't actually copy to the clipboard. I've attempted modifying the UserAgent without any success. Here is the relevant part of my code: override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() let config = WKWebViewConfiguration() config.preferences = WKPreferences() config.defaultWebpagePreferences.preferredContentMode = .desktop let webView = WKWebView(frame: .zero, configuration: config) webView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false view.addSubview(webView) webView.scrollView.showsVerticalScrollIndicator = false webView.backgroundColor = UIColor.white webView.scrollView.backgroundColor = UIColor.white webView.leadingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.leadingAnchor).isActive = true webView.topAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.topAnchor).isActive = true webView.trailingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.trailingAnchor).isActive = true webView.bottomAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.bottomAnchor).isActive = true if let url = URL(string: "https://translate.google.com") { let req = URLRequest(url: url) webView.load(req) } }

Repeated Camera Permission Prompts in Web App on Safari (iOS)
Hi everyone, We're building a web application using Next.js that captures around 40 images across different routes as part of a guided user flow. At the beginning of the process, we explicitly request camera permission using navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia(...), and the user grants it successfully. However, as users proceed through the flow (navigating between routes), Safari on iOS intermittently re-prompts for camera access—despite the initial permission already being granted and the origin (domain) remaining unchanged. This repeated prompting interrupts the user experience significantly. What we’ve tried: Ensuring camera access is requested only once and reused where possible. Using persistent media stream across routes (where feasible). Testing across different iOS versions to confirm consistency. Questions: Is there a known workaround or best practice to persist camera access across route transitions in a SPA/PWA context on iOS? Are there any Safari-specific behaviors or restrictions related to WebRTC / getUserMedia we should be aware of? Would embedding the camera view in an iframe or maintaining a persistent component help avoid re-prompting? Any guidance or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

WebKit crash on iOS 18.3
After the official release of iOS 18.3, our app has collected numerous identical crash logs. These crashes occurred on different devices, but the common denominator is that they all, and only, happened on iOS 18.3. Based on the stack trace, the crash is happening internally within WebKit. The details are as follows: Crashed: com.apple.main-thread 0 WebCore 0x721f9c + 28 1 WebCore 0x15b6924 + 11356 2 WebCore 0x15b174c + 1008 3 WebCore 0x1776e4 + 292 4 WebCore 0x17753c WebCore::SerializedScriptValue::deserialize(OpaqueJSContext const*, OpaqueJSValue const**) + 100 5 WebKit 0x530b28 + 92 6 WebKit 0x5a0d2c + 176 7 WebKit 0x9e74b0 + 956 8 WebKit 0xe43d58 + 392 9 WebKit 0x886ac + 272 10 WebKit 0x88940 + 44 11 WebKit 0x87a74 + 252 12 WebKit 0x875ec + 576 13 JavaScriptCore 0x2f8a48 ***::RunLoop::performWork() + 204 14 JavaScriptCore 0x2f895c ***::RunLoop::performWork(void*) + 36 15 CoreFoundation 0x73f4c CFRUNLOOP_IS_CALLING_OUT_TO_A_SOURCE0_PERFORM_FUNCTION + 28 16 CoreFoundation 0x73ee0 __CFRunLoopDoSource0 + 176 17 CoreFoundation 0x76b40 __CFRunLoopDoSources0 + 244 18 CoreFoundation 0x75d3c __CFRunLoopRun + 840 19 CoreFoundation 0xc8284 CFRunLoopRunSpecific + 588 20 GraphicsServices 0x14c0 GSEventRunModal + 164 21 UIKitCore 0x3ee674 -[UIApplication _run] + 816 22 UIKitCore 0x14e88 UIApplicationMain + 340 23 18Birdies 0x1b2d3c main + 14 (main.m:14) 24 ??? 0x1ac161de8 (Missing)

Custom WkWebsiteDatastore
Hey team, I've integrated custom WkWebsiteDatastore to manage profiling for different sessions. upon testing the WkWebsiteDataStore as its mentioned to be persistent But The storage can be accessed via identifier, But the session data in storage is absent, such as cookies caches all are cleared when app is relaunched is it the default behavior to be expected or there is some property missing causing the session data to be removed from storage.

iOS 18 Safari and WKWebview, "NotSupportedError" issue when playing videos
WKWebview of iOS 18 includes Safari browser. When playing videos, some videos show "NotSupportedError: The operation is not supported.", but it is normal on iOS15 devices. The video link is as follows. Even if it is downloaded and referenced locally in HTML, it cannot be played, so it is ruled out that it is a network problem. https://ydtj-adas.oss-cn-shanghai.aliyuncs.com/e6yun.com/exam/exam/a35447b496b94e5e9a6aab27d62c867e.mp4 cannot be played https://ydtj-adas.oss-cn-shanghai.aliyuncs.com/e6yun.com/exam/exam/82d970957a7d4e8d88c13cd101143005.mp4 can be played

Safari browser compatibility issue
I have a local HTML file used to display mixed content with images and text. Here's the issue: the same file displays everything correctly in Google Chrome, showing both images and text as expected. However, when opened in Safari, only the text is shown—images are missing, which is very strange. Interestingly, if I remove .png from the title attribute of the tag, the images show up properly in Safari. Alternatively, if I comment out the inclusion of html2canvas.min.js, the images also display correctly (although the layout breaks without it). I'm not sure if this is a Safari-specific issue. Can anyone explain what might be causing this problem?

Suggestions for OAuth2 in Swift
Hello! I have a few questions about integrating an OAuth2 API into my Swift application. I am using this API to access user data from the website (users will authenticate themselves within the app). I have seen other apps use this API in the way that I am describing it so I know that it is possible. However, I am not sure how to implement it. Are there any recommended ways to use an OAuth2 API in my application? The API that I am using does not specifically say that it supports PKCE. However, I have heard from some sources that it does. If it does not support PKCE, how do I still create a secure app infrastructure that will pass App Store Review? At a more basic level, what is the difference between OAuth2 and PKCE? What should I use in my app? Are there any resources to learn a little bit more about these protocols so that I understand them better? Thanks!

ssl error iPadOS 18.4 for self-signed certificate
Our app is an enterprise app via MDM. We are experiencing an issue in iPadOS 18.4 when loading an internal HTTPS server via WKWebView in a hybrid iOS app. Our server uses a self-signed certificate but lacks the digitalSignature usage in its Key Usage extension. (Currently we have no chance to change the server's certificate) We override webView:didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:completionHandler: to trust the certificate: completionHandler(NSURLSessionAuthChallengeUseCredential, credential); This "completionHandler" works in previous 18.3.2 , but not work in 18.4. May I know is there any changes in 18.4 for the https certification? Why this delegate not work? What we can do to ignore this ssl error and get connection? Thanks in advance, look forward for your reply.

Prevent collapsing every tab group when collapsing sidebar
I'm not sure if this is even the right place to ask this, or voice this complaint if there's no fix. If not, please direct me where to go. I'm trying to switch all my development over to Safari, but the tab sidebar is driving me absolutely insane. Let's say I have a bunch of tab groups expanded, and I collapse the sidebar to focus on the webapp I am building. When I toggle to show the sidebar again, every single tab group is collapsed. Why is it 2 clicks to see the tabs in the sidebar? Even with zero tab groups, and just tabs in the workspace, if you collapse the sidebar it'll collapse the list of tabs. Is there some hidden setting for this? Who do we have to complain to?

Getting started with PHP ..
I am new to PHP. I have developed my own web site with a lot of javascript in simple HTML files. I want to do some extensions with PHP but I can't make a simple web page function. I am sure something simple is wrong. Help! Here is the test web page I made: hello.html <html>  <head>   <title>Hello World</title>  </head>  <body>   <?php echo 'Hello World!'; ?>  </body> </html> Pointing Safari at hello.html gives me a new tab with the correct title, but no "Hello World" in the page itself. Here is the output of php --version: WARNING: PHP is not recommended PHP is included in macOS for compatibility with legacy software. Future versions of macOS will not include PHP. Tracking playback events from Apple Podcasts iframe in AEM
Hi everyone, I’m working on a web project developed on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), where we’ve built a custom component that embeds Apple Podcasts episodes using the official iframe provided via https://embed.podcasts.apple.com. Everything works correctly from a rendering point of view, but we are now exploring ways to track user interactions with the embedded player, specifically events such as: start, play, pause, progress milestones (e.g. 25%, 50%, etc.). This data would be used to send analytics events to Adobe Analytics. So far, we haven’t found any documentation or JavaScript API that would allow us to listen to these events. We'd like to ask: Is there any official way to track playback events from an Apple Podcasts iframe? Any information, clarification, or direction would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance! Thanks, Adriana

Issue with Fetching Device ID from Localhost on iOS (HTTPS Request Conflict)
We are currently running a lightweight server within our iOS mobile app to pass a unique device ID via localhost for device-based restrictions. The setup works by binding a user's email to their device ID upon login, and later, when they attempt to log in via a browser, we retrieve this ID by making a request to http://localhost:8086/device-info. However, we're encountering an issue when making this request. Here’s the error message: Error fetching device info: TypeError { } r@webkit-masked-url://hidden/:27:166011 value@webkit-masked-url://hidden/:27:182883 @webkit-masked-url://hidden/:27:184904 We are making this request from an HTTPS website, and we suspect this could be related to mixed-content restrictions. Could you guide us on how to properly make localhost requests over HTTPS, especially in a production environment with the necessary security measures? Any insights or best practices on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
