I am working on implementing mTLS authentication in my iOS app (Apple Inhouse & intune MAM managed app). The SCEP client certificate is deployed on the device via Intune MDM. When I try accessing the protected endpoint via SFSafariViewController/ASWebAuthenticationSession, the certificate picker appears and the request succeeds. However, from within my app (using URLSessionDelegate), the certificate is not found (errSecItemNotFound).
The didReceive challenge method is called, but my SCEP certificate is not found in the app. The certificate is visible under Settings > Device Management > SCEP Certificate.
How can I make my iOS app access and use the SCEP certificate (installed via Intune MDM) for mTLS requests?
Do I need a special entitlement, keychain access group, or configuration in Intune or Developer account to allow my app to use the certificate?

Trying to apply 'always trust' to certificate added to keychain using both SecItemAdd() and SecPKCS12Import() with SecTrustSettingsSetTrustSettings().
I created a launchdaemon for this purpose.
AuthorizationDB is modified so that any process running in root can apply trust to certificate.

In 15.5 modifying authorization db with AuthorizationRightSet() itself is returning errAuthorizationDenied.Tried manually editing authorization db via terminal and same error occurred.
Did apple update anything on Security framework?
Any other way to trust certificates?
Hi! We are developing an authentication plugin for macOS that integrates with the system's authentication flow. The plugin is designed to prompt the user for approval via a push notification in our app before allowing access. The plugin is added as the first mechanism in the authenticate rule, followed by the default builtin:authenticate as a fallback.
When the system requests authentication (e.g., during screen unlock), our plugin successfully displays the custom UI and sends a push notification to the user's device. However, I've encountered the following issue:
If the user does not approve the push notification within ~30 seconds, the system resets the screen lock (expected behavior).
If the user approves the push notification within approximately 30 seconds but doesn’t start entering their password before the timeout expires, the system still resets the screen lock before they can enter their password, effectively canceling the session.
What I've Tried:
Attempted to imitate mouse movement after the push button was clicked to keep the session active.
Created a display sleep prevention assertion using IOKit to prevent the screen from turning off.
Used the caffeinate command to keep the display and system awake.
Tried setting the result as allow for the authorization request and passing an empty password to prevent the display from turning off.
I also checked the system logs when this issue occurred and found the following messages:

These messages suggest that the loginwindow process encounters a timeout condition, followed by the display entering sleep mode. Despite my attempts to prevent this behavior, the screen lock still resets prematurely.
Questions:
Is there a documented (or undocumented) system timeout for the entire authentication flow during screen unlock that I cannot override?
Are there any strategies for pausing or extending the authentication timeout to allow for complex authentication flows like push notifications?

My high-level goal is to add support for Game Mode in a Java game, which launches via a macOS "launcher" app that runs the actual java game as a separate process (e.g. using the java command line tool).
I asked this over in the Graphics & Games section and was told this, which is why I'm reposting this here.
I'm uncertain how to speak to CLI tools and Java games launched from a macOS app. These sound like security and sandboxing questions which we recommend you ask about in those sections of the forums.
The system seems to decide whether to enable Game Mode based on values in the Info.plist (e.g. for LSApplicationCategoryType and GCSupportsGameMode). However, the child process can't seem to see these values. Is there a way to change that?

Imagine a native macOS app that acts as a "launcher" for a Java game.** For example, the "launcher" app might use the Swift Process API or a similar method to run the java command line tool (lets assume the user has installed Java themselves) to run the game.
I have seen How to Enable Game Mode. If the native launcher app's Info.plist has the following keys set:
LSApplicationCategoryType set to public.app-category.games
LSSupportsGameMode set to true (for macOS 26+)
GCSupportsGameMode set to true
The launcher itself can cause Game Mode to activate if the launcher is fullscreened. However, if the launcher opens a Java process that opens a window, then the Java window is fullscreened, Game Mode doesn't seem to activate. In this case activating Game Mode for the launcher itself is unnecessary, but you'd expect Game Mode to activate when the actual game in the Java window is fullscreened.
Is there a way to get Game Mode to activate in the latter case?
** The concrete case I'm thinking of is a third-party Minecraft Java Edition launcher, but the issue can also be demonstrated in a sample project (FB13786152). It seems like the official Minecraft launcher is able to do this, though it's not clear how. (Is its bundle identifier hardcoded in the OS to allow for this? Changing a sample app's bundle identifier to be the same as the official Minecraft launcher gets the behavior I want, but obviously this is not a practical solution.)

The Core Problem
After Users sign out from the App, the app isn’t properly retrieving the user on second sign in. Instead, it’s treating the user as “Unknown” and saving a new entry in CloudKit and locally. Is there a tutorial aside from 'Juice' that is recent and up to date?
I have been trying to find a way to be able to sign some data with private key of an identity in login keychain without raising any prompts.
I am able to do this with system keychain (obviously with correct permissions and checks) but not with login keychain. It always ends up asking user for their login password.

We have been experiencing a persistent notification issue in our application, Flowace, after updating to macOS 15 and above. The issue is affecting our customers but does not occur on our internal test machines.
Issue Description
When users share their screen using Flowace, they receive a repetitive system notification stating:
"Flowace has accessed your screen and system audio XX times in the past 30 days. You can manage this in settings."
This pop-up appears approximately every minute, even though screen sharing and audio access work correctly. This behavior was not present in macOS 15.1.1 or earlier versions and appears to be related to recent privacy enhancements in macOS.
Impact on Users
The frequent pop-ups disrupt workflows, making it difficult for users to focus while using screen-sharing features.
No issues are detected in Privacy & Security Settings, where Flowace has the necessary permissions.
The issue is not reproducible on our internal test machines, making troubleshooting difficult.
Our application is enterprise level and works all the time, so technically this pop only comes after a period of not using the app.

We would like to understand:
Has anyone else encountered a similar issue in macOS 15+?
Is there official Apple documentation explaining this new privacy behavior?
Are there any interim fixes to suppress or manage these notifications?
What are Apple's prospects regarding this feature in upcoming macOS updates?

We encountered a sudden and widespread failure related to the App Attest service on Friday, July 25, starting at around 9:22 AM UTC.
After an extended investigation, our network engineers noted that the size of the attestation objects received from the attestKey call grew in size notably starting at that time. As a result, our firewall began blocking the requests from our app made to our servers with the Base64-encoded attestation objects in the payload, as these requests began triggering our firewall's max request length rule.
Could Apple engineers please confirm whether there was any change rolled out by Apple at or around that time that would cause the attestation object size to increase?
Can anyone else confirm seeing this?
Any insights from Apple or others would be appreciated to ensure continued stability.

Can you please give me a hand with importing certificates under MacOS?
I want to connect to Wi-Fi with 802.1X authentication (EAP-TLS) using a certificate that my homebrew application imported into my data protection keychain, but the imported certificate does not show up and I cannot select the certificate.
It also does not show up in the Keychain Access app.
One method I have tried is to import it into the data protection keychain by using the SecItemAdd function and setting kSecUseDataProtectionKeychain to true, but it does not work.
Is there a better way to do this?

I have something with a new individual on my team I've never seen before. They checked out our code repository from git and now anytime they try to open a .json file that is legitimately just a text file, GateKeeper tells them it cannot verify the integrity of this file and offers to have them throw this file away. I've seen this with binaries, and that makes sense. I removed the com.apple.quarantine extended attribute from all executable files in our source tree, but I've never seen GateKeeper prompt on text files. I could remove the extended attribute from all files in our source tree, but I fear the next time he pulls from git he'll get new ones flagged. Is there someway around this? I've never personally seen GateKeeper blocking text files.
Binary code is associated with the NSUserTrackingUsageDescription deleted at present, but in the revised App privacy will contain NSUserTrackingUsageDescription, I feel very confused, don't know should shouldn't solve.

Hi. We're writing Authorization Plugin and started with NullAuthPlugin compilation. When tried to run it on VM (Sonoma 14.6, SIP enabled), we're going into the following issue:

As I understand, the platform binary is the one signed with Apple signature, which indeed is unavailable for us.
How can we avoid this issue and run the plugin? Perhaps we're missing some build setting requirement?
During internal testing, we observed the following behavior and would appreciate clarification on whether it is expected and supported in production environments.
When generating an elliptic-curve cryptographic key pair using "kSecAttrTokenIDSecureEnclave", and explicitly specifying a "kSecAttrAccessGroup", we found that cryptographic operations (specifically encryption and decryption) could be successfully performed using this key pair from two distinct applications. Both applications had the Keychain Sharing capability enabled and were signed with the same provisioning profile identity.
Given the documented security properties of Secure Enclave, backed keys, namely that private key material is protected by hardware and access is strictly constrained by design, we would like to confirm whether the ability for multiple applications (sharing the same keychain access group and signing identity) to perform cryptographic operations with the same Secure Enclave–backed key is expected behavior on iOS.
Specifically, we are seeking confirmation on:
Whether this behavior is intentional and supported in production.
Whether the Secure Enclave enforces access control primarily at the application-identifier (App ID) level rather than the individual app bundle level in this scenario.
Whether there are any documented limitations or guarantees regarding cross-application usage of Secure Enclave keys when keychain sharing is configured.
Any guidance or references to official documentation clarifying this behavior would be greatly appreciated.

It may be a stupid question, but we really wonder if there is a way for MDM to push a unique mTLS cert to our iOS application or if it can populate a client certificate in the iOS where our application can access it. Like browser app, how do browser mTLS certs get pushed?

Our application uses Screen capture KIT API for screen recording.
But from Sequoia OS, we are getting additional permission dialog which states " is requesting to bypass the system private window picker and directly access your screen and audio".
It seems we need to add our app under "System settings -> Privacy & Security -> Remote Desktop" setting to avoid getting above additional dialogue in every few days.
Some places mention use of .plist file that if mention in this file, the app will request for this permission. But did not seem to work or we do not understand that properly yet.
On iOS 26, QuickLookAR (ARQuickLookPreviewItem) shares the actual .usdz file via the system Share Sheet instead of the original website URL.
This is a regression from iOS 17–18, where sharing correctly preserved and sent only the source URL.
Repro steps:
1. Open a web-hosted USDZ model in QuickLookAR (Safari).
2. Tap Share.
3. Share via any messenger.
4. The full .usdz file is sent.
Expected:
Share Sheet sends only the original URL.
Actual:
Share Sheet sends the USDZ file.
Impact:
Uncontrolled distribution of proprietary 3D assets.
Critical IP / data leak.
Blocks production AR deployments relying on QuickLook.
Environment:

I am currently implementing Server-to-Server Notifications for Sign in with Apple. I’ve encountered a discrepancy between the official documentation and the actual payload I received, and I would like to clarify which one is correct.
The Situation: I triggered an account deletion event via privacy.apple.com to test the notification flow. When my server received the notification, the type field in the JSON payload was account-deleted (past tense).
The Issue: According to the official Apple documentation, the event type is listed as account-delete (present tense).
Here is the discrepancy I am observing:
Documentation: account-delete
Actual Payload: account-deleted
My Question: Is the documentation outdated, or is this a known inconsistency? Should I handle both strings (account-delete and account-deleted) in my backend logic to be safe, or is account-deleted the new standard?

I've made my first app and encountered an unexpected (potentially existential) issue.
The Manager app is designed to tag 3rd party "plugins" used by a DAW, storing metadata in a local SQLite database, and move them between Active and Inactive folders. This allows management of the plugin collection - the DAW only uses what's in the Active folder.
Permissions are obtained via security-scoped bookmarks on first launch. The app functions as intended: plugin bundles move correctly and the database tracks everything. No information is written to the plugins themselves.
The Problem:
When moving plugins using fs.rename() , the MAS sandbox automatically adds the com.apple.quarantine extended attribute to moved files. When the DAW subsequently rebuilds its plugin cache, it interprets quarantined plugins as "corrupt" or potentially malicious and refuses to load them.
Technical Details:
Moving files with NSFileManager or Node.js fs APIs within sandbox triggers quarantine
Sandboxed apps cannot call xattr -d com.apple.quarantine or use removexattr()
The entitlement com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-write doesn't grant xattr removal rights
User workaround: run xattr -cr /path/to/plugins in Terminal - not acceptable for professional users
Question:
Is there any MAS-compliant way to move files without triggering quarantine, or to remove the quarantine attribute within the sandbox? The hardened-runtime DMG build works perfectly (no sandbox = no quarantine added).
