We have integrated FairPlay Streaming Server SDK v3 into our MDRM platform since 2017, the system works stable and stayed untouched. As you know, both Widevine and Playready have requirements to upgrade the Server SDK regularly. We want to know if Apple imposes similar requirements for upgrading the FPS SDK, or if we may continue using the old one without any updates.

I'm working on a photo app and I want to allow the user to display, edit and delete photos. I can fetch all photos using PHAsset.fetchAssets(with: options). This works as intended.
However, I can't seem to find a way to prevent the user from seeing photos from a Shared Library. The PHAssetSourceType only contains typeCloudShared to only show items from a specific album; not library.
How can I filter by iCloud Shared Library?
I am developing an app with transcription and I am exploring ways to improve the transcription from the SpeechAnalyzer/Transcriber for technical terms. SFSpeech... recognition had the capability of being augmented by contextualStrings. Does something similar exist for SpeechAnalyzer/Transcriber? iOS 26.0 (23A5276f) – Bluetooth Call Audio Issue
I’m experiencing a Bluetooth audio issue on iOS 26.0 (build 23A5276f). I cannot make or receive phone calls properly using Bluetooth devices — this affects both my car’s Bluetooth system and my AirPods Pro (2nd generation).
Notably:
Regular phone calls have no audio (either I can’t hear the other person, or they can’t hear me).
WhatsApp and other VoIP apps work fine with the same Bluetooth devices.
Media playback (music, video, etc.) works without issues over Bluetooth.
It seems this bug is limited to the native Phone app or the system audio routing for regular cellular calls. Please advise if this is a known issue or if a fix is expected in upcoming beta releases.

I'm running into an issue with AVAudioRecorder when handling interruptions such as phone calls or alarms.
Problem:
When the app is recording audio and an interruption occurs:
I handle the interruption with audioRecorder?.pause() inside AVAudioSession.interruptionNotification (on .began).
On .ended, I check for .shouldResume and call audioRecorder?.record() again.
The recorder resumes successfully, but only the audio recorded after the interruption is saved. The audio recorded before the interruption is lost, even though I'm using the same file URL and not recreating the recorder.
Repro:
Start a recording with AVAudioRecorder
Simulate a system interruption (e.g., incoming call)
Resume recording after the interruption
Stop and inspect the output audio file
Expected: Full audio (before and after interruption) should be saved.
Actual: Only the audio after interruption is saved; the earlier part is missing
Notes:
According to the documentation, calling .record() after .pause() should resume recording into the same file.
I confirmed that the file URL does not change, and I do not recreate the recorder instance.
No error is thrown by the system during this process.
This behavior happens consistently when the app is interrupted and resumed.
Question:
Is this a known issue? Is there a recommended workaround for preserving the full recording when interruptions happen?

I noticed that Instagram and iMessage support receiving shared lyrics from Apple Music. Specifically, when users long-press lyrics, a sheet pops up showing iMessage and Instagram. Clicking on either app generates a beautifully formatted lyrics image.

I'm looking for a definitive clarification on how to completely disable all video stabilization, including the hardware OIS, using AVFoundation. The goal is to achieve a completely raw, unstabilized video feed, which is crucial when using external equipment like gimbals to avoid conflicting stabilization motions.
My research points to using the AVCaptureConnection property preferredVideoStabilizationMode and setting it to AVCaptureVideoStabilizationMode.off.
The documentation for the .off case states:
A mode that doesn’t stabilize video capture.
This description is slightly ambiguous. It's unclear whether this only affects software-level stabilization (EIS, EIS+OIS, etc) or if it guarantees the complete deactivation of the physical OIS module. For professional video applications, this is a critical distinction.
So, I'd like to ask the community:
Has anyone been able to definitively confirm that setting preferredVideoStabilizationMode to .off also disables the hardware OIS? Are there any known tests or documentation that prove this behavior?
Is there an alternative or more direct method to ensure the OIS module is physically inactive during video capture?
What is the community's best practice for ensuring absolutely no stabilization is applied to the video pipeline?
Any insights or shared experiences on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

just generated a HDR10 MVHEVC file, mediainfo is below:

Matrix coefficients : BT.2020 non-constant
Codec configuration box : hvcC+lhvC
then generate the segment files with below command:

then upload the segment files and prog_index.m3u8 to web server.
just find that can not play the HLS stream on Safari...

just checked that if i remove the tag Transfer characteristics : PQ when generating the MVHEVC file.
above same mediafilesegmenter command and upload the files to web server.
the new version of HLS stream is can play on Safari...

The presentation "create audio drivers with DriverKit" from WWDC 2021 demonstrates how to use a dext to implement a virtual audio driver. It also says " If a virtual audio driver or device is all that is needed, the audio server plug-in driver model should continue to be used".
Indeed, in AudioDriverKit/AudioDriverKitTypes.h, there is no IOUserAudioTransportType Virtual, although CoreAudio/AudioHardwareBase.h includes kAudioDeviceTransportTypeVirtual.
For one of our products, we require virtual devices to implement a software loopback "cable". We've implemented this using the "traditional" HAL plugin, and as a proof-of-concept, also using a dext. In the dext, I tried setting the transport type to 'virt', which seems to only have the effect of changing the icon shown in Audio Midi Setup.
HAL plugins require an installer, and the installer has to kill coreaudiod in a post-install script. You have to turn off SIP to debug them. Just like AudioDriverKit drivers, they are out-of-process and run in a process not owned by the hosting app. Our HAL plugin's interface is property based; we had to write a lot of boiler-plate code to implement required properties. Writing an AudioDriverKit driver is in most respects easier - a lot of the scaffolding is implemented in the base driver, which we only alter where required. Debugging and installation is much easier.
The dext works just fine, as far as we can ascertain, just as well as a HAL plugin.
So, my question is - is the advice to use a HAL plugin for a virtual device still correct in 2025? And if so, what's the objection? We'd really prefer to ship the AudioDriverKit virtual audio device.
Hello, I am developing a custom player SDK using AVPlayer to support HLS and LL-HLS live streaming. I have some questions about the internal logic of AVPlayer regarding ABR, as this information is not explicitly covered in the documentation.
ABR Switching Logic: Does AVPlayer trigger bitrate switching primarily based on stall occurrences (buffer starvation)? I am curious if the switching logic is reactive to stalls or if it proactively switches to prevent them based on throughput estimation.
Developer Controls for ABR: To influence or control the ABR selection, are preferredPeakBitRate and preferredForwardBufferDuration the only properties available to developers? Are there any other recommended APIs to assist with ABR decisions?

To list all of the users library playlists, however the resulting objects do not contain the playlist artwork in the JSON. I've tried adding the extend and include attributes as well but to no avail.

Is there a way to get the artwork URL without sending a request for each playlist? And if not can this be fixed?
For iOS17 we've had no problem playing Apple Fairplay encrypted content with keys delivered from our key server running on FairPlay Streaming Server SDK 5.1 and subsequently FairPlay Streaming Server SDK 26. It's built and deployed using Xcode Version 26.1.1 (17B100) with no changes to the code and - as expected - the content continued to be successfully decrypted and played (so far so good). However, as soon as a device was updated to iOS26, that device would no longer play the encrypted content.
Devices remaining on iOS17 continue to work normally and the debugging logs are a sanity-check that proves that. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I am developing an iOS application that supports screen mirroring to Google TV (or Chromecast with Google TV). My goal is to mirror the iPhone/iPad screen in real time to a Google TV device.
What I Have Tried So Far
I have explored multiple approaches but haven't found a direct way to achieve low-latency screen mirroring. Here are some of my findings:
Google Cast SDK:
Google Cast SDK is primarily designed for casting media (videos, images, audio) rather than real-time mirroring. It supports custom receiver applications, but there are no direct APIs for full screen mirroring. Casting a recorded video is possible, but it introduces latency and is not real-time.
ReplayKit for Screen Capture:
RPScreenRecorder.shared().startCapture(handler: ...) allows capturing the iPhone screen as a video stream. However, sending this stream to Google TV in real time is a challenge. I could potentially encode the video as HLS and stream it, but the delay is significant.
RTSP/UDP Streaming:
Some third-party libraries support RTSP/UDP streaming for real-time screen sharing. Google TV does not natively support RTSP, making this approach difficult.
My Questions:
Is it possible to achieve real-time screen mirroring on Google TV using Google Cast SDK? Does Google TV support WebRTC or any low-latency streaming protocol that can be used from iOS? Are there any alternative approaches to mirror an iOS screen to Google TV with minimal latency? I would appreciate any guidance, code examples, or references to relevant documentation.
I noticed that while playing back the same tracks via MusicKit on different OSes I get different results regarding the audio files being streamed.
Playing back a lossless file with 24Bit 48kHz and watching the Console for RemotePlayerService I get:
on iPadOS: Lossless; groupID: audio-alac-stereo-48000-24; bitDepth: 24-bit; sampleRate: 48khz; codec: alac; channels: 2; layout: Stereo;
on macOS: Creating AudioQueue with format:'paac', framesPerPacket:1024, sampleRate:44100
While the iPad looks perfect, the Mac does not. Is there a way to fix this issue on macOS.
BTW: I switched the Audio-Midi Settings before, after and while the macOS App was lunched. I also switched to different output devices. I wasn't able to change the bad audio-output on the mac. I tested this under Sequoia 15.5 and Tahoe beta 1, Xcode 16.4 and 26 beta 1.
The AudioVariants of the Album/Tracks are .dolbyAtmos, .lossless, .lossyStereo
Apple Music displays Lossless 24 Bit/48 kHz ALAC when clicking on the playercontroll icon on macOS
I hope there are only some missing or misconfigured properties to get macOS up to par.

Our iOS/AppleTV video content playback app uses AVPlayer to play HLS video streams and supports both custom and system playback UIs. The Fairplay content key is retrieved using AVContentKeySession. AirPlay is supported too.
When the iPhone is connected to a TV through the lightning Apple Digital AV Adapter (A1438), the app is mirrored as expected.
Problem: when using an iPhone or iPad on iOS 18.1.1, FairPlay-protected HLS streams are not played and a CoreMediaErrorDomain -12035 error is received by the AVPlayerItem. Also, once the issue has occurred, the mirroring freezes (the TV indefinitely displays the app playback screen) although the app works fine on the iOS device.
The content key retrieval works as expected (I can see that 2 content key requests are made by the system by the way, probably one for the local playback and one for the adapter, as when AirPlaying) and the error is thrown after providing the AVContentKeyResponse.
Unfortunately, and as far as I know, there is not documentation on CoreMediaErrorDomain errors so I don't know what -12035 means.
The issue does not occur:
on an iPhone on iOS 17.7 (even with FairPlay-protected HLS streams)
when playing DRM-free video content (whatever the iOS version)
when using the USB-C AV Adapter (whatever the iOS version)
Also worth noting: the issue does not occur with other video playback apps such as Apple TV or Netflix although I don't have any details on the kind of streams these apps play and the way the FairPlay content key is retrieved (if any) so I don't know if it is relevant.

to add tracks to playlists. This endpoint works fine for all playlists except for collaborative playlists.
For collaborative playlist I get the following 500 error as a response:

Steps to reproduce:
Create a playlist in your library.
Use the api to add a song.
Confirm that it works.
Make that same playlist collaborative.
Update the playlist ID in your api request (as making a playlist collaborative changes its id)
Confirm that you get the 500 error.
(This only started happening as of Xcode 26.)
I know macOS and watchOS don't support this property, but all other platforms do (did?) up until I upgraded Xcode. Now when I compile I get this:

In iOS 26 (Developer Beta), the AVCaptureMetadataOutputObjectsDelegate no longer receives callbacks when metadataOutput.metadataObjectTypes = [.face] is set. On earlier iOS versions the issue does not occur. Interestingly, face detection works if I set the sessionPreset to .medium, but not with .high — except on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, where it works regardless.
the problem is when using HLS live stream with AVPlayer on iOS/ tvOS the player chooses first highest bandwidth then slowly steps down to lowest (within 1-3min) and eventually steps up again then repeats to step down.
the AVPlayer error log sends events:

our CourAudio server plugin utilizes the SystemConfiguration.framework to store and restore specific shared system wide settings.
While our application can authenticate to utilize the SystemConfiguration.framework to gain write access to the shared configuration settings the CoreAudio server plugin obviously can't have any user interaction and therefor does not authenticate.
Is it possible to authenticate the CoreAudio server plugin to gain write permissions? Are there any entitlements or other means that would allow this?
