On an iPhone running iOS 26 beta 5, url(for: FilePath("subdir/asset.mov")) most always throws this error:
The URL for “subdir/asset.mov” couldn’t be retrieved: “asset.mov” couldn’t be copied to “subdir” because an item with the same name already exists.
Yet, contents(at: FilePath("subdir/asset.mov")) always returns Data for a playable AVMovie.
How can I avoid this url(for:) error?
The asset pack in question is downloaded. The error persists even after pack deletion, redownload, relaunch, and combinations of that.

I'm wondering if someone happened issues with currentPlaybackRate in released version of iOS 26.0?
There is no issue happened in case of iOS 18.5.
When I changed currentPlaybackRate on iOS 26.0, it seems to unexpectedly change currentPlaybackRate to be 0 or 1.0 forcibly no matter DRM or non-DRM contents. And also, playing music will be abnormal behavior and unstable with noise if currentPlaybackRate is not 1.0. And changes stop state and play state frequently.
Hi, my daughter was given an Apple Watch due to her grandfather's passing. It is not GPS/cellular, and we cannot connect it to her Apple ID because of this. It doesn't seem right to leave her logged in to his Apple ID, but we are currently out of options. Is there a workaround to this? When I try to set her up from my phone, it tells me that the watch must have GPS/cellular to set it up. Why? Am I missing something?

I take that MusicKit JS is built with TypeScript, based on the attributions in the script: https://js-cdn.music.apple.com/musickit/v3/musickit.js
In the script it points to https://js-cdn.music.apple.com/musickit/v1/acknowledgements.txt – I assume this should be the v3 URL for the v3 version? It returns the same content nonetheless.
This contains attributions for TypeScript.
Currently there's a third-party effort with DefinitelyTyped, which publishes the NPM package @types/musickit-js. The latest supported version available is v1.
However, there is no version compatible with v3.
This makes it hard to use MusicKit JS v3 in a TypeScript project.
Please publish the types, ideally on the CDN along with the musickit.js file. Also consider publishing an officially Apple supported DefinitelyTyped package, or help to maintain the existing @types/musickit-js to make consuming this even easier.
I am using Apple's original Lightning Digital AV-adapter (Lightning-to-HDMI dongle) to connect my iPhone to an external display via a HDMI cable.
I need to synchronize rendering with the external display's refresh rate, so I create a new CADisplayLink tied to the external display's UIScreen: UIScreen.screens[externalDisplayIdx].displayLink(withTarget:, selector:).
The callback is being called regularly, but with increasing delay relative to the CADisplayLink.timestamp, so the next time the callback is called, I have less and less time to draw the next frame (see the snippet below).
Assuming 60 FPS, the value of secondsTillDeadline starts at an arbitrary value in the range of approx -0.0001 to 0.0166667, and then it slowly decreases towards zero (and for a brief period it goes into small negative numbers). Once it reaches zero, it flips back to 0.0166667 and continues to decrease again. This cycle repeats indefinitely.
Changing the external display's resolution (UIScreen's mode) or the CADisplayLink's preferredFrameRateRange to a lower FPS does not seem to have any effect on the temporal drifting (even the rate of change seem to be the same).
When I create a new CADisplayLink for the iPhone's main screen, the value of secondsTillDeadline is stable, it does not drift and it is very close to 0.0166667, as expected.
Is this drift caused by the external monitor or by Apple's Lightning-to-HDMI dongle ...or is the problem somewhere else?
Can the drifting be stopped?
func onDisplayLinkUpdate(displayLink: CADisplayLink) {
// Gradually decreases from 0.01667 to -0.0001, then flips back to 0.01667 and continues to decrease
let secondsTillDeadline = displayLink.targetTimestamp - CACurrentMediaTime()
}

Hello,
I'm working on a Flutter app targeting both Android and iOS, where I implemented ShazamKit.
In order to achieve that, I first tried with the flutter_shazam_kit package, but since it's not maintained anymore, I forked it here, and tried to update it to meet the Google Play Store requirements, as you can see here:
https://github.com/mregnauld/flutter_shazam_kit/tree/fix-16k
Unfortunately, after trying everything, my app still doesn't meet the (not so) new 16 KB native library alignment. Also, I'm 100% sure it comes from that because the error message disappears if I remove that package from my app.
So after investigating, it seems that the problem comes from the ShazamKit for Android (that you can find here: https://developer.apple.com/download/all/?q=Android%20ShazamKit), and especially the .so files in the .aar file.
Is there anything I can do to fix that, or should I wait before the ShazamKit team fix that?
I'm totally stuck with that so any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks.
I use
htttps://api.music.apple.com/v1/me/library/playlists/${playlistId}/tracks
to add tracks to a playlist I created.
How do I DELETE tracks from the playlist?
The documentation does not mention a method for this. I have tried calling DELETE methods in various combinations but nothing seems to work.
Is this possible?
Dear Apple Developer Team,
On iOS 26, the contents of PDF pages appear to be swapped.
Could you please advise if there is a workaround or a planned fix for this issue?
Steps to Reproduce:
Download the attached PDF on iOS 26.
Open the PDF in the Files app.
Tap the PDF to view it in Quick Look.
Navigate to page 5.
Expected Result:
The page number displayed at the bottom should be 5.
Actual Result:
The page number displayed at the bottom is 4.
Issue:
This is not limited to page 5—multiple page contents appear to be swapped.
I have also submitted feedback via Feedback Assistant (FB20743531) on October 20.
Best regards,
Yoshihito Suezawa
Hello,
We are trying to use the new Background Upload Extension to improve uploads of assets (Photos, Live Photos, Videos) in the background in our application.
1 - We implemented the code to upload still images.
We would like to do the same for Live Photos but we are not sure how to proceed since a Live Photo is composed of 2 resources that we would like to upload in the same job so that we keep the association between the 2
resources.
Steps:
A Live Photo is captured on the device.
Our application is notified for new content in the Photo Library and the asset is queued for upload by our application.
The system calls the background upload extension and the Live Photo is prepared for upload but we can schedule a job only for one resource (still photo or paired video) so we can not upload both resources in a single job.
2 - Is there a way to synchronise the application and the extension so that the application would not process the same data or execute the same requests than the extension. For example: our application is working with
tokens and we would like to prevent those tokens to be consumed by the application and the extension at the same
time.
3 - is there a command in xcode or terminal to start or stop the extension, something similar to what exists for processing tasks
(https://developer.apple.com/documentation/backgroundtasks/starting-and-terminating-tasks-during-development).
Hello,
Basically, I am reading and writing an asset.
To simplify, I am just reading the asset and rewriting it into an output video without any modifications.
However, I want to add a fade-out effect to the last three seconds of the output video.
I don’t know how to do this.
So far, before adding the CMSampleBuffer to the output video, I tried reducing its volume using an extension on CMSampleBuffer.
In the extension, I passed 0.4 for testing, aiming to reduce the video's overall volume by 60%.
My question is:
How can I directly adjust the volume of a CMSampleBuffer?
Here is the extension:
extension CMSampleBuffer {
func adjustVolume(by factor: Float) -> CMSampleBuffer? {
guard let blockBuffer = CMSampleBufferGetDataBuffer(self) else { return nil }
var length = 0
var dataPointer: UnsafeMutablePointer<Int8>?
guard CMBlockBufferGetDataPointer(blockBuffer, atOffset: 0, lengthAtOffsetOut: nil, totalLengthOut: &length, dataPointerOut: &dataPointer) == kCMBlockBufferNoErr else { return nil }
guard let dataPointer = dataPointer else { return nil }
let sampleCount = length / MemoryLayout<Int16>.size
dataPointer.withMemoryRebound(to: Int16.self, capacity: sampleCount) { pointer in
for i in 0..<sampleCount {
let sample = Float(pointer[i])
pointer[i] = Int16(sample * factor)
}
}
return self
}
}
When building an application that can be built on iOS using macCatalyst, a link error like the one below will occur.
Undefined symbol: OBJC_CLASS$_AVPlayerViewController
The AVPlayerViewController documentation seems to support macCatalyst, but what is the reality?
[AVPlayerViewController](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/avkit/avplayerviewcontroller? language=objc)
Each version of the environment is as follows.
Xcode 16.2
macOS deployment target: macOS 10.15
iOS deployment target: iOS 13.0
Thank you for your support.

My app is properly configured with MusicKit. I've generated a JWT using my valid credentials (Team ID, Key ID, private key), and I’ve ensured the time settings are correct via NTP.
When I call:
https://api.music.apple.com/v1/catalog/jp/search?term=ado&types=songs
I consistently receive a 500 Internal Server Error.
The JWT is generated using ES256 with valid iat and exp values. I’ve confirmed the token decodes properly using jwt.io, and it's passed via the Authorization: Bearer header.
Things I’ve confirmed:
Key ID, Team ID, private key are correct
App ID is configured with MusicKit capability
JWT is generated and signed correctly
macOS time is synced via NTP
Used both curl and Python to test — same result
Is there anything else I should check on the Apple Developer Console (like App ID, Certificates, or provisioning profile)?
Or could this be a backend issue on Apple’s side?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
I donate INPlayMediaIntent to systerm(donate success), but not show in control center
My code is as follows
let mediaItems = mediaItems.map { $0.inMediaItem }
let intent = if #available(iOS 13.0, *) {
INPlayMediaIntent(mediaItems: mediaItems,
mediaContainer: nil,
playShuffled: false,
playbackRepeatMode: .none,
resumePlayback: true,
playbackQueueLocation: .now,
playbackSpeed: nil,
mediaSearch: nil)
} else {
INPlayMediaIntent(mediaItems: mediaItems,
mediaContainer: nil,
playShuffled: false,
playbackRepeatMode: .none,
resumePlayback: true)
}
intent.suggestedInvocationPhrase = "播放音乐"
let interaction = INInteraction(intent: intent, response: nil)
interaction.donate { error in
if let error = error {
print("Intent 捐赠失败: \(error.localizedDescription)")
} else {
print("Intent 捐赠成功 ✅")

I'm building a UIKit app that reads user's Apple Music library and displays it. In MusicKit there is the Artwork structure which I need to use to display artwork images in the app. Since I'm not using SwiftUI I cannot use the ArtworkImage view that is recommended way of displaying those images but the Artwork structure has a method that returns url for the image which can be used to read the image.
The way I have it setup is really simple:
extension MusicKit.Song {
func imageURL(for cgSize: CGSize) -> URL? {
return artwork?.url(
width: Int(cgSize.width),
height: Int(cgSize.height)
)
}
func localImage(for cgSize: CGSize) -> UIImage? {
guard let url = imageURL(for: cgSize),
url.scheme == "musicKit",
let data = try? Data(contentsOf: url) else {
return nil
}
return .init(data: data)
}
}
Now, everytime I access .artwork property (so a lot of times) the main thread gets blocked and the console output gets bombared with messages like these:
2023-07-26 11:49:47.317195+0200 Plum[998:297199] [Artwork] Failed to create color analysis for artwork: <MPMediaLibraryArtwork: 0x289591590> with error; Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4099 "The connection to service named com.apple.mediaartworkd.xpc was invalidated: failed at lookup with error 159 - Sandbox restriction." My guess is that the most performance-heavy task here is performing the color analysis for each artwork but IMO the property backgroundColor should not be a stored property if that's the case. I am not planning to use it anywhere and if so it should be a computed async property so it doesn't block the caller.
I know I can move the call to a background thread and that fixes the issue of blocking main thread but still the loading times for each artwork are terribly slow and that impacts the UX.
SwiftUI's ArtworkImage loads the artworks much quicker and without the errors so there must be a better way to do it.
I've been using CGWindowListCreateImage which automatically creates an image with the size of the captured window.
But SCScreenshotManager.captureImage(contentFilter:configuration:) always creates images with the width and height specified in the provided SCStreamConfiguration. I could be setting the size explicitly by reading SCWindow.frame or SCContentFilter.contentRect and multiplying the width and height by SCContentFilter.pointPixelScale , but it won't work if I want to keep the window shadow with SCStreamConfiguration.ignoreShadowsSingleWindow = false.
Is there a way and what's the best way to take full-resolution screenshots of the correct size?
import Cocoa
import ScreenCaptureKit
class ViewController: NSViewController {
@IBOutlet weak var imageView: NSImageView!
override func viewDidAppear() {
imageView.imageScaling = .scaleProportionallyUpOrDown
view.wantsLayer = true
view.layer!.backgroundColor = .init(red: 1, green: 0, blue: 0, alpha: 1)
Task {
let windows = try await SCShareableContent.excludingDesktopWindows(false, onScreenWindowsOnly: true).windows
let window = windows[0]
let filter = SCContentFilter(desktopIndependentWindow: window)
let configuration = SCStreamConfiguration()
configuration.ignoreShadowsSingleWindow = false
configuration.showsCursor = false
configuration.width = Int(Float(filter.contentRect.width) * filter.pointPixelScale)
configuration.height = Int(Float(filter.contentRect.height) * filter.pointPixelScale)
print(filter.contentRect)
let windowImage = try await SCScreenshotManager.captureImage(contentFilter: filter, configuration: configuration)
imageView.image = NSImage(cgImage: windowImage, size: CGSize(width: windowImage.width, height: windowImage.height))
}
}
}
I've been having issues with authorization after switching from v1 to v3, have tried some of the suggestions provided by someone in a reply to a post of mine. Have tried to reach out to Apple Support a few times as well, though I haven't received any support that has helped me to move forward.
I have tested my token at https://jwt.io and I'm getting a "Signature Verified", tried multiple browsers in private/incognito mode, now when I try to sign into my Apple Account to test my player I am receiving an error that stats "There is a Problem Connecting. There May be an Issue with Your Network." (which is not the case).
I have tried everything I can think of, I'm at a loss and would appreciate any help to get my project moving forward. This is what I am seeing in the browser developer console (using Firefox):

I am using https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applemusicapi/add-tracks-to-a-library-playlist
to add tracks to playlists. This endpoint works fine for all playlists except for collaborative playlists.
For collaborative playlist I get the following 500 error as a response:
"errors": [
{
"id": "<some id>",
"title": "Upstream Service Error",
"detail": "Unable to update tracks",
"status": "500",
"code": "50001"
}
]
}
Steps to reproduce:
Create a playlist in your library.
Use the api to add a song.
Confirm that it works.
Make that same playlist collaborative.
Update the playlist ID in your api request (as making a playlist collaborative changes its id)
Confirm that you get the 500 error.
Hi,
In the iOS13 and macOS Catalina release notes it says:
Metal CIKernel instances now support arguments with arbitrarily structured data.
I've been trying to use this functionality in a CIKernel with mixed results. I'm particularly interested in passing data in the form of a dynamically sized array. It seems to work up to a certain size. Beyond the threshold excessive data is discarded and the kernel becomes unstable. I assume there is some kind of memory alignment issue going on, but I've tried various types in my array and always get a similar result.
I have not found any documentation or sample code regarding this. It would be great to know how this is intended to work and what the limitations are.
In the forums there are two similar unanswered questions about data arguments, so I'm sure there are a few out there with similar issues.
Thanks!
Michael
Hello,
I am wondering how one can play music videos (with the actual video playing) with the ApplicationMusicPlayer using MusicKit for Swift?
There is not much documentation on this, so any help would be appreciated.
