I have rewatched WWDC22 a few times , but still not getting full understanding how to get .mlmodel model file type from components .
Example with banana ripeness is cool , but what need to be added to actually have output of .mlmodel , is somewhere full sample code for this type of modular project ?
Code is from [https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2022/10019)
import CoreImage
import CreateMLComponents
struct ImageRegressor {
static let trainingDataURL = URL(fileURLWithPath: "~/Desktop/bananas")
static let parametersURL = URL(fileURLWithPath: "~/Desktop/parameters")
static func train() async throws -> some Transformer<CIImage, Float> {
let estimator = ImageFeaturePrint()
.appending(LinearRegressor())
// File name example: banana-5.jpg
let data = try AnnotatedFiles(labeledByNamesAt: trainingDataURL, separator: "-", index: 1, type: .image)
.mapFeatures(ImageReader.read)
.mapAnnotations({ Float($0)! })
let (training, validation) = data.randomSplit(by: 0.8)
let transformer = try await estimator.fitted(to: training, validateOn: validation)
try estimator.write(transformer, to: parametersURL)
return transformer
}
}
I have tried to run it in Mac OS command line type app, Swift-UI but most what I had as output was .pkg with
"pipeline.json,
parameters,
optimizer.json,
optimizer"

Hi,
Are there rules around using Foundation Models:
In a background task/session?
Concurrently, i.e. a bunch simultaneously using Swift Concurrency?
I couldn't find this in the docs (sorry if I missed it) so wondering what's supported and what the best practice is here.
In case it matters, my primary platform is Vision Pro (so, M2).
I've tried creating a Lora adapter using the example dataset, scripts as part of the adapter_training_toolkit_v26_0_0 (last available) on MacOs 26 Beta 6.
import SwiftUI
import FoundationModels
import Playgrounds
#Playground {
// The absolute path to your adapter.
let localURL = URL(filePath: "/Users/syl/Downloads/adapter_training_toolkit_v26_0_0/train/test-lora.fmadapter")
// Initialize the adapter by using the local URL.
let adapter = try SystemLanguageModel.Adapter(fileURL: localURL)
// An instance of the the system language model using your adapter.
let customAdapterModel = SystemLanguageModel(adapter: adapter)
// Create a session and prompt the model.
let session = LanguageModelSession(model: customAdapterModel)
let response = try await session.respond(to: "hello")
}
I get Adapter assets are invalid error.
I've added the entitlements
Is adapter_training_toolkit_v26_0_0 up to date?

Hello,
I am testing the sample project provided here: Bringing advanced speech-to-text capabilities to your app.
On both macOS 26.0 beta and iOS 26.0 beta, the app crashes immediately on launch with a dyld "Symbol not found" error related to FoundationModels.framework.
It feels like this may be related to testing primarily on newer Apple Silicon devices, as I am seeing consistent crashes on an Intel MacBook and on an older iPhone device.
I would appreciate any insight, confirmation, or guidance on whether this is a known limitation or if there is a workaround. Is it planned to be resolved soon?
Environment

Question
Is this crash expected on Intel Macs and older iPhone models with the beta SDKs?
Is there an official statement on whether macOS 26.x releases support Intel, or it exists only until macOS 26.1?
Any suggested workarounds for testing this sample project on current hardware?
Is this a known limitation for the 26.0 beta, and if so, should we expect a fix in 26.0 or only in subsequent releases?
Attaching screenshots for reference.
Thank you in advance.
Hey guys, I've been having difficulties transferring my Xcode project to a Swift playground (.swiftpm) for the Swift Student Challenge. I keep getting these errors as well as none of the views being able to find the model in scope:
"TrashDetector 1.mlmodel: No predominant language detected. Set COREML_CODEGEN_LANGUAGE to preferred language."
Unexpected duplicate tasks: Target 'TrashQuest' (project 'TrashQuest') has write command with output /Users/kmcph3/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/TrashQuest-glvzskunedgtakfrdmsxdoplondj/Build/Intermediates.noindex/TrashQuest.build/Debug-iphonesimulator/TrashQuest.build/0a4ef2429d66360920ddb4f16e65e233.sb
I've gone through multiple post with these exact problems, but they all seem to be talking about ".playground" files due to the "Resources" folder (mind you I did try exactly what they said). Is there anyone that can help???
(Quick side note, why does it need to be a swiftpm file for the SSC??? Like why can't we just send the zip of our Xcode project??)

I have reinstalled everything including command line tools but the CreateML frameworks fail to install, I need the framework so that I can train my auto-categorzation model which predicts category based on descriptions. I need that framework because I want to use reviision 4.
please suggest advice on how do I proceed
I generate an array of random floats using the code shown below. However, I would like to do this with Double instead of Float. Are there any BNNS random number generators for double values, something like BNNSRandomFillUniformDouble? If not, is there a way I can convert BNNSNDArrayDescriptor from float to double?
import Accelerate
let n = 100_000_000
let result = Array<Float>(unsafeUninitializedCapacity: n) { buffer, initCount in
var descriptor = BNNSNDArrayDescriptor(data: buffer, shape: .vector(n))!
let randomGenerator = BNNSCreateRandomGenerator(BNNSRandomGeneratorMethodAES_CTR, nil)
BNNSRandomFillUniformFloat(randomGenerator, &descriptor, 0, 1)
initCount = n
}
I couldn't find information about this in the documentation. Could someone clarify if this API is available and how to access it?
Is there any way to stop GPU work running that is scheduled using metal?
Long shader calculations don't stop when application is stopped in Xcode and continue to take up GPU time and affect the display.
Why is this functionality not available when Swift Tasks are able to be canceled?

I'm a bit new to the LLM stuff and with Foundation Models. My understanding is that there is a token limit of around 4K.
I want to process the contents of files which may be quite large. I first tried going the Tool route but that didn't work out so I then tried manually chunking the text to keep things under the limit.
It mostly works except that every now and then it'll exceed the limit. This happens even when the chunks are less than 100 characters. Instructions themselves are about 500 characters but still overall, well below 1000 characters per prompt, all told, which, in my limited understanding, should not result in 4K tokens being parsed.
Any ideas on what is going on here?

Hey guys 👋
I’ve been thinking about a feature idea for iOS that could totally change the way we interact with apps like Twitter/X.
Imagine if we could define our own recommendation algorithm, and have an AI on the iPhone that replaces the suggested tweets in the feed with ones that match our personal interests — based on public tweets, and without hacking anything.
Kinda like a personalized "AI skin" over the app that curates content you actually care about. Feels like this would make content way more relevant and less algorithmically manipulative.
Would love to know what you all think — and if Apple could pull this off 🔥

I'm building a new feature with Visual Intelligence framework. My implementation for IndexedEntity and IntentValueQuery worked as expected and I can see a list of objects in visual search result.
However, my OpenIntent doesn't work. When I tap on the object, I got a message on screen "Sorry somethinf went wrong ...". and the breakpoint in perform() is never triggered.
Things I've tried:
I added @MainActor before perform(), this didn't change anything
I set static let openAppWhenRun: Bool = true and static var supportedModes: IntentModes = [.foreground(.immediate)], still nothing
I created a different intent for the see more button at the end of feed. This AppIntent with schema: .visualIntelligence.semanticContentSearch worked, perform() is executed

I see the solution is simple "just change the language in the build settings" but the build settings are not a thing in an App Playground project. It also says duplicated tasks.
Hello,
We find that models sometimes load very fast (<< 1 second) and sometimes encounter very long load times (>> 120 seconds). During such slow load times, the model is being compiled.
We would greatly appreciate the ability to check cache validity via CoreML and determine that we are about to encounter long load times so that we can mitigate and provide a good user experience.
A secondary issue: sometimes the cache is corrupted (typically .mpsgraphpackage yielding Metal cold asserts). This yields load failures and OS errors that persist between launches, and we have to manually nuke the cache (~/Library/..../my-app/...) for the CoreML assets. A CoreML API for clearing caches and hardening from asserts across the load paths would be appreciated

When the @Generable is applied toward a Swift struct declared within another struct, and when said nested struct is defined as the type of one of the properties of another @Generable type, which is in turn defined as the output format of Foundation Model session, Foundation Model can stuck in a loop trying to create a infinitely nested response, until the context window limit exceeded error is triggered.
I have filed feedback FB19987191 with a demo project. Is this expected behavior?

Not finding a lot on the Swift Assist technology announced at WWDC 2024. Does anyone know the latest status? Also, currently I use OpenAI's macOS app and its 'Work With...' functionality to assist with Xcode development, and this is okay, certainly saves copying code back and forth, but it seems like AI should be able to do a lot more to help with Xcode app development.
I guess I'm looking at what people are doing with AI in Visual Studio, Cline, Cursor and other IDEs and tools like those and feel a bit left out working in Xcode. Please let me know if there are AI tools or techniques out there you use to help with your Xcode projects.
Thanks in advance!
How reliable is the Models, to use as a comparison, such as a cholesterol test, to inform, for example, whether it is worth it to go see a doctor?
I would like to use Tool to attach the simple blood test data to the session and with this the Model can analyse and made a simple suggestion if is necessary to see a doctor etc.. ?
ps.: Local model
Hello Apple Team,
Thank you for the recent Group Lab and for your continued work on advancing Xcode and developer tools.
I’d like to submit a feature request:
Are there any plans to introduce support for Agentic AI Mode (MCP protocol) in future versions of iOS or Xcode?
As developer tools evolve toward more intelligent and context-aware environments, the integration of agentic AI capabilities could significantly enhance productivity and unlock new creative workflows.
Looking forward to your consideration, and thank you again for the excellent session.
Best regards
