USDZ File Crashes in QuickLook on iPad 9th Gen (iPadOS 18.3) – Urgent Help Needed
Hi everyone, I’m experiencing a critical issue with USDZ files created in Reality Composer on an iPad 9th Generation (iPadOS 18.3). The files work perfectly on iPads from the 10th Generation onwards and on iPad Pros. However, on older devices like the iPad 9th Generation and older iPhones, QuickLook (file preview) crashes when opening them. This is a major issue because these USDZ files are part of an exhibition where artworks are extended with AR elements via a web page. If some visitors cannot view the 3D content, it significantly impacts the experience. What’s puzzling is that two years ago, we exported USDZ files from Reality Composer, made them available via a website, and they worked flawlessly on all devices, including older iPads and iPhones. Now, with the latest iPadOS, they consistently crash on older devices. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Are there known limitations with QuickLook on older devices, or is there a way to optimize the USDZ files to prevent crashes? Could this be related to changes in iPadOS or RealityKit? Any advice or workaround would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

scenekit is deprecated but realitykit is for special computing what should i use ?
hello i am new to apple ecosystem and development i have some coding experience with c# now i like to develop my game for iphone 16 and up(due to ability to run ai models) but i am having hard time figuring out what to use there is a lot of resources for scene-kit but on its doc page it says its deprecated so i look at the reality-kit docs and tutorials and its strictly tells how to develop for visionos and i am really confused about this since there is no tutorials that shows how to develop a game for ios with reality-kit that does not focus visionos. i just want to develop for iphone 16 and up but i cant find resources focuses at that.

iPhone Pro Model - RefreshRate
I want to display the refresh rate on the screen of the iPhone (14 Pro Max), but each app of the App Store's "Floating Clock", "Floating Clock Premium" and "Screen Renewal Rate - RefreshRate Realtime" can only display two of 60Hz and 120Hz, and I wonder if it can display numbers of 1Hz, 10Hz, tens of Hz, or more than 3 levels. Does anyone know how to do it?

Value of type 'SCRecordingOutput' has no member 'delegate'
Hello, I am trying to capture screen recording ( output.mp4 ) using ScreenCaptureKit and also the mouse positions during the recording ( mouse.json ). The recording and the mouse positions ( tracked based on mouse movements events only ) needs to be perfectly synced in order to add effects in post editing. I started off by using the await stream?.startCapture() and after that starting my mouse tracking function :- try await captureEngine.startCapture(configuration: config, filter: filter, recordingOutput: recordingOutput) let captureStartTime = Date() mouseTracker?.startTracking(with: captureStartTime) But every time I tested, there is a clear inconsistency in sync between the recorded video and the recorded mouse positions. The only thing I want is to know when exactly does the recording "actually" started so that I can start the mouse capture at that same time, and thus I tried using the Delegates, but being able to set them up perfectly. import Foundation import AVFAudio import ScreenCaptureKit import OSLog import Combine class CaptureEngine: NSObject, @unchecked Sendable { private let logger = Logger() private(set) var stream: SCStream? private var streamOutput: CaptureEngineStreamOutput? private var recordingOutput: SCRecordingOutput? private let videoSampleBufferQueue = DispatchQueue(label: "com.francestudio.phia.VideoSampleBufferQueue") private let audioSampleBufferQueue = DispatchQueue(label: "com.francestudio.phia.AudioSampleBufferQueue") private let micSampleBufferQueue = DispatchQueue(label: "com.francestudio.phia.MicSampleBufferQueue") func startCapture(configuration: SCStreamConfiguration, filter: SCContentFilter, recordingOutput: SCRecordingOutput) async throws { // Create the stream output delegate. let streamOutput = CaptureEngineStreamOutput() self.streamOutput = streamOutput do { stream = SCStream(filter: filter, configuration: configuration, delegate: streamOutput) try stream?.addStreamOutput(streamOutput, type: .screen, sampleHandlerQueue: videoSampleBufferQueue) try stream?.addStreamOutput(streamOutput, type: .audio, sampleHandlerQueue: audioSampleBufferQueue) try stream?.addStreamOutput(streamOutput, type: .microphone, sampleHandlerQueue: micSampleBufferQueue) self.recordingOutput = recordingOutput recordingOutput.delegate = self try stream?.addRecordingOutput(recordingOutput) try await stream?.startCapture() } catch { logger.error("Failed to start capture: \(error.localizedDescription)") throw error } } func stopCapture() async throws { do { try await stream?.stopCapture() } catch { logger.error("Failed to stop capture: \(error.localizedDescription)") throw error } } func update(configuration: SCStreamConfiguration, filter: SCContentFilter) async { do { try await stream?.updateConfiguration(configuration) try await stream?.updateContentFilter(filter) } catch { logger.error("Failed to update the stream session: \(String(describing: error))") } } func stopRecordingOutputForStream(_ recordingOutput: SCRecordingOutput) throws { try self.stream?.removeRecordingOutput(recordingOutput) } } // MARK: - SCRecordingOutputDelegate extension CaptureEngine: SCRecordingOutputDelegate { func recordingOutputDidStartRecording(_ recordingOutput: SCRecordingOutput) { let startTime = Date() logger.info("Recording output did start recording \(startTime)") } func recordingOutputDidFinishRecording(_ recordingOutput: SCRecordingOutput) { logger.info("Recording output did finish recording") } func recordingOutput(_ recordingOutput: SCRecordingOutput, didFailWithError error: any Error) { logger.error("Recording output failed with error: \(error.localizedDescription)") } } private class CaptureEngineStreamOutput: NSObject, SCStreamOutput, SCStreamDelegate { private let logger = Logger() override init() { super.init() } func stream(_ stream: SCStream, didOutputSampleBuffer sampleBuffer: CMSampleBuffer, of outputType: SCStreamOutputType) { guard sampleBuffer.isValid else { return } switch outputType { case .screen: break case .audio: break case .microphone: break @unknown default: logger.error("Encountered unknown stream output type:") } } func stream(_ stream: SCStream, didStopWithError error: Error) { logger.error("Stream stopped with error: \(error.localizedDescription)") } } I am getting error Value of type 'SCRecordingOutput' has no member 'delegate' Even though I am targeting macOs 15+ ( macOs 26 actually ) and macOs only. What is the best way to achieving the desired result? Is there any other / better way to do it?

unable to find boardcast extension
Issue Summary: In our Flutter application, we utilize Tencent's TRTC API for voice and video communication. While the broadcast functionality operates correctly on Android, it fails to respond on iOS devices. Attempting to initiate a broadcast results in no action, and long-pressing the broadcast button does not reveal the broadcast extension. Steps to Reproduce: Add Broadcast Upload Extension: In Xcode, navigate to File > New > Target. Select Broadcast Upload Extension and add it to the project. 2. Build the Project: Attempt to build the project. Encounter the error: "Cycle inside Runner; building could produce unreliable results." 3. Resolve Build Cycle Error: Go to the project’s Build Phases. Locate the Embed App Extensions phase. Move Embed App Extensions just below Copy Bundle Resources. Ensure the Copy only when installing option is selected. Rebuild the project; the cycle error is resolved. 4.Test Broadcast Functionality: Install the app on an iOS device. Tap the broadcast button; observe no response. Long-press the broadcast button in the top right hand scroll down menu; the broadcast extension is not listed. 5. Isolate the Issue: Create a new Flutter project. Repeat the above steps to add the broadcast upload extension. The issue persists: broadcast functionality remains unresponsive on iOS.

Support for clock() shader instruction in MSL similar to VK_KHR_shader_clock instructions
Hi, seems MSL is missing support for a clock() shader instruction available in other graphics APIs like Vulkan or OpenGL for example.. useful for counting cost in number of clock cycles of some code insider shader with much finer granularity than launching a micro kernel with same instructions and measuring cycles cost from CPU.. also useful for MoltenVK to support that extensions.. thanks..

GCController.shouldMonitorBackgroundEvents = true broken?
I am suspecting that setting GCController.shouldMonitorBackgroundEvents = true does not actually make the game controllers inputs accessible to the app when it is in the background. About this value the official documentation says: A Boolean value that indicates whether the app needs to respond to controller events when it isn’t the frontmost app. Now the behavior is that when the app is in focus the users inputs do get correctly recognized but as soon as the app enters the background no inputs get recognized. The controller does not get reported as disconnecting and still works for example in launchpad. I am sure that about 2 months ago when I first used this it did work as one would expect. I also have seen that an app which lets users execute certain actions using their controller has stoped working recently, adding to my suspicion of the feature being broken. Here is a minimum reproducible example: import SwiftUI import GameController @main struct TestingControllerConnectionApp: App { @NSApplicationDelegateAdaptor(AppDelegate.self) var appDelegate var body: some Scene { WindowGroup { ContentView() } } } class AppDelegate: NSObject, NSApplicationDelegate { var statusItem: NSStatusItem? var controller: GCController? func applicationDidFinishLaunching(_ notification: Notification) { setupMenuBar() GCController.shouldMonitorBackgroundEvents = true NotificationCenter.default.addObserver( self, selector: #selector(controllerDidConnect), name: .GCControllerDidConnect, object: nil ) NotificationCenter.default.addObserver( self, selector: #selector(controllerDidDisconnect), name: .GCControllerDidDisconnect, object: nil ) } @objc private func setupMenuBar() { let menu = NSMenu() menu.addItem(NSMenuItem(title: "Quit", action: #selector(quitApp), keyEquivalent: "q")) statusItem = NSStatusBar.system.statusItem(withLength: NSStatusItem.variableLength) statusItem?.button?.image = NSImage(resource: .controllerBar) statusItem?.menu = menu } @objc private func quitApp() { NSApp.terminate(nil) } @objc private func controllerDidConnect(_ notification: Notification) { if let controller = notification.object as? GCController { print("Controller connected") self.controller = controller if let gamepad = controller.extendedGamepad { gamepad.buttonA.pressedChangedHandler = { _, _, pressed in print("Button A pressed: \(pressed)") } } } } @objc private func controllerDidDisconnect(_ notification: Notification) { print("Controller disconnected") } } This is created in a completely fresh Xcode project and NSHumanInterfaceDeviceUsageDescription has been added. I am using a PS5 Controller and a Mac running MacOS 15.4.1 which has been restarted and only Xcode and the app have been opened. I have tested this with setting a multitude of different entitlements and capabilities including: NSHumanInterfaceDeviceUsageDescription Supports Controller User Interaction Required background modes -> App communicates with an accessory com.apple.security.device.bluetooth com.apple.security.device.hid com.apple.security.device.usb I have also set this value at different points in the code with no change of effect. Does anybody see if there is any fault in my code or my understanding of the effect of the value 'shouldMonitorBackgroundEvents'? Or is this the functionality actually being broken on Apples part?

How to implement c for vision ?
I want to use reality to create a custom material that can use my own shader and support Mesh instancing (for rendering 3D Gaussian splating), but I found that CustomMaterial does not support VisionOS. Is there any other interface that can achieve my needs? Where can I find examples?

GameKit Matchmaking
Hi all im having a variety of issues with gamekit matchmaking. On the simulator the matchmaking ui pops up and I can click Quick Match, then immediately "Failed to find Players" this is the same with a real Apple ID and a sandbox account. If I use real devices the app at least discovers a match, but then the match none of the delegate methods for the match ever get called and the logs are filled with socket not connected and various errors. My questions are: Should match making via quick match work in the simulator, I have seen tutorial videos etc of this working, but I can't seem to get it to work. How do people debug issues with GameCenter / Gamekit to find out why its not able to connect? Many thanks in advance

Why is depth/stencil buffer loaded/stored twice in xcode gpu capture?
I used xcode gpu capture to profile render pipeline's bandwidth of my game. Then i found depth buffer and stencil buffer use the same buffer whitch it's format is Depth32Float_Stencil8. But why in a single pass of pipeline, this buffer was loaded twice, and the Load Attachment Size of Encoder Statistics was double. Is there any bug with xcode gpu capture?Or the pass really loaded the buffer twice times?

Inquiry About Game Center Integration Analytics
Dear Apple Developer Support, I hope this message finds you well. I am a game developer looking to integrate Game Center into our game. Before proceeding, I would like to understand the analytical capabilities available post-integration. Specifically, I am interested in tracking detailed metrics such as: The number of new player downloads driven by Game Center features (e.g., friend challenges, leaderboards, or achievements). Data on user engagement and conversions originating from Game Center interactions. I have explored App Store Connect’s App Analytics but would appreciate clarification on whether Game Center-specific data (e.g., referrals from challenges or social features) is available to measure growth and optimize our strategies. If such data is accessible, could you guide me on how to view it? If not, are there alternative methods or plans to incorporate this in the future? Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response. Best regards, Bella

Issue with Non-Consumable In-App Purchase in Unity (iOS Sandbox Environment)
Question: I'm encountering an issue with in-app purchases (IAP) in Unity, specifically for a non-consumable product in the iOS sandbox environment. Below are the details: Environment: Unity Version: 2022.3.55f1 Unity In-App Purchasing Version: v4.12.2 Device: iPhone (15, iOS 18.1.1) Connection: Wi-Fi iOS Settings: In-App Purchases set to “Allowed” initially Problem Behavior: I attempted to purchase a non-consumable item for the first time. The payment is successfully completed by entering the password. I then background the game app and navigate to the iOS Settings to set In-App Purchases to "Don't Allow." After returning to the game and either closing or killing the app, I try to purchase the same non-consumable item again. I checked canMakePayments() through the Apple configuration, and the app correctly detected that I could not make purchases due to the restriction. I then navigate back to Settings and set In-App Purchases to "Allow." Upon returning to the game, I try purchasing the non-consumable item again. A pop-up appears, saying, "You’ve already purchased this. Would you like to get it again for free?" The issue is: Will it deduct money for the second time, and why is the system allowing the user to purchase the same non-consumable item multiple times after purchasing it once? Is this the expected behavior for Unity In-App Purchasing, or is there something I might be missing in handling non-consumable purchases in this scenario? Additional Information: I’ve confirmed that the "In-App Purchases" are set to “Allowed” before attempting the purchase again. I understand that non-consumable products should not be purchased more than once, so I’m unsure why the system is offering to let the user purchase it again. I appreciate any insights into whether this is expected behavior or if I need to adjust how I handle the purchase flow.

Crash occurring when authenticating user for Game Center
I am using the latest version of the Game Center plugin for Unity and have noticed that my game will crash on launch when trying to authenticate. I've tried this in an empty project with just the plugin and it still crashes with this exception. GfxDevice: creating device client; threaded=1; jobified=0 Initializing Metal device caps: Apple A14 GPU Initialize engine version: 2022.3.62f2 (7670c08855a9) GameKitException: Code=-7 Domain=GKErrorDomain Description=The operation couldn’t be completed. And the area in the native code that is triggering the crash is this inside the GKLocalPlayer_SetAuthenticateHandler function `_onAuthenticate!(tid, _mostRecentAuthenticatePlayer!.passRetainedUnsafeMutablePointer()); I am using Unity 2022.3.62f2 and MacOS 15.6 with iOS 18.6.2 which based on the min specs for the plugin we should be within spec. RealityKit and Reality Composer Pro aren't forward or backward compatible with each other
TL;DR: RealityKit and Reality Composer Pro aren't forward or backward compatible with each other, and the resulting error message is terse and unhelpful. (FB14828873) So far, I've been sticking with Xcode 16.4 for development and only using Xcode 26.0 beta experimentally. Yesterday, I used xcode-select to switch to Xcode 26.0 beta 3 to test it, but I forgot to switch back. Consequently, this morning I unintentionally used the future Reality Composer Pro (the version included with Xcode 26) to make a small change to a USD file. Now I realize that if I'm unlucky, it's possible Reality Composer Pro may have silently introduced a small change into the USD file that may make RealityKit fail to read the file on iOS 18 and visionOS 2, which in the past has resulted in hours of debugging to track down the source of the failure, often a single line in the USD file that RealityKit can't communicate to me other than with the error "the operation couldn't be completed". As an analogy, this situation is as if, during regular development (not involving Reality Composer Pro), Xcode didn't warn you about specific API version conflicts, but instead failed with a generic error message, without highlighting the line in your Swift file that was the source of the error.
