Error this SDK is not supported by the compiler - Xcode version 16.2 (16C5032a) to 16.3(16E140)
In Xcode version 16.2 (16C5032a) I created: One [ScenekitApp] [File/New/Project/iOS/Game/Game Technology: SceneKit]. Three custom Frameworks [File/New/Project/iOS/Framework] [ASCSource.framework, ASCCommon.framework and ASCCoreData.framework]. In the four projects the [Minimum Deployments=iOS 15.0], [Swift version=6.0] and [BUILD_LIBRARY_FOR_DISTRIBUTION=Yes]. I directly installed the [Zip.framework] in [ASCSource.framework] without [pod init/pod install] and in the [General tab] [Frameworks, Libraries and Embeded Content] [Zip.framework Embed&Sign]. I installed the three frameworks [ASCSource.framework, ASCCommon.framework and ASCCoreData.framework] in [ScenekitApp] and everything works perfectly in Xcode version 16.2(16C5032a). I updated Xcode version 16.2(16C5032a) to Xcode version 16.3(16E140) and some errors in the SDKs were indicated. [Failed to build module 'ASCSource'; this SDK is not supported by the compiler (the SDK is built with 'Apple Swift version 6.0.3 effective-5.10 (swiftlang-6.0.3.1.10 clang-1600.0.30.1)', while this compiler is 'Apple Swift version 6.1 effective-5.10 (swiftlang-6.1.0.110.21 clang-1700.0.13.3)'). Please select a toolchain which matches the SDK]. Please select a toolchain which matches the SDK]. If I recompile all frameworks in Xcode version 16.3 (16E140) it will work, but I don't think it will be a good solution. I found some discussions in links like the following without success. https://github.com/firebase/firebase-ios-sdk/issues/13727 https://stackoverflow.com/questions/70556401/swift-version-conflict-this-sdk-is-not-supported-by-the-compiler-please-select Any help is welcome. Thanks everyone!!!

How to apply a geometry modifier to a VideoMaterial in RealityKit?
I have a model that uses a video material as the surface shader and I need to also use a geometry modifier on the material. This seemed like it would be promising (adapted from https://developer.apple.com/wwdc21/10075 ~5m 50s). // Did the setup for the video and AVPlayer eventually leading me to let videoMaterial = VideoMaterial(avPlayer: avPlayer) // Assign the material to the entity entity.model!.materials = [videoMaterial] // The part shown in WWDC: Set up the library and geometry modifier before, so now try to map the new custom material to the video material entity.model!.materials = entity.model!.materials.map { baseMaterial in       try! CustomMaterial(from: baseMaterial, geometryModifier: geometryModifier)     } But, I get the following error Thread 1: Fatal error: 'try!' expression unexpectedly raised an error: RealityFoundation.CustomMaterialError.defaultSurfaceShaderForMaterialNotFound How can I apply a geometry modifier to a VideoMaterial? Or, if I can't do that, is there an easy way to route the AVPlayer video data into the baseColor of CustomMaterial?

Walking an entity around an immersive space in visionOS like the window drag bar
I'm trying to understand how Apple handles dragging windows around in an immersive space. 3d Gestures seem to be only half of the solution in that they are great if you're standing still and want to move the window an exaggerated amount around the environment, but if you then start walking while dragging, the amplified gesture sends the entity flying off into the distance. It seems they quickly transition from one coordinate system to another depending on if the user is physically moving. If you drag a window and start walking the movement suddenly matches your speed. When you stop moving, you can push and pull the windows around again like a super hero. Am I missing something obvious in how to copy this behavior? Hello world, which uses the 3d gesture has the same problem. You can move the world around but if you walk with it, it flies off. Are they tracking the head movement and if it's moved more than a certain amount it uses that offset instead? Is there anything out of the box that can do this before I try and hack my own solution?

GameKit Leaderboards not working in iOS 26.2
Leaderboards working fine in iOS 26.1 but seem to be broken in 26.2 and also in the 26.3 developer beta. Players cannot submit scores and neither can they view scores on Apple's default leaderboards. Custom leaderboards that rely on pulling information using GameKit APIs also fail. Is there a workaround or patch for this?

Question about metal-cpp resource allocation
I notice some metal-cpp classes have static funtion like static URL* fileURLWithPath(const class String* pPath); static class ComputePassDescriptor* computePassDescriptor(); static class AccelerationStructurePassDescriptor* accelerationStructurePassDescriptor(); which return a new object. these classes also provide 'alloc' and 'init' function to create object by default. for object created by 'alloc' and 'init', I use something like NS::Shaderd_Ptr or call release directly to free memory. Because 'alloc' and 'init' not explicit call on these static function. I wonder how to correctly free object created by these static function? did they managed by autorelease pool?

Skybox for iOS/swiftUI not working
I have tried every combination of suggestions to get a skybox to appear. Using swiftUI, realityKit and iOS. Non immersive environment. Does anyone have code that works to display a skybox. When i use a do/catch loop i get environmentResource not found. I have checked the syntax, ensured the folder is referencing the target, used the same name for the folder as the file, the file is a .hdr (i assume this is supported), i have moved the file folder to the top level - no change.

Fullscreen detection using Core Graphic
Hi, I am trying to detect if all the screen are in fullscreen mode. The current approach is to get all windows' information from CGWindowListCopyWindowInfo and then compare the frame and coordinate with the frame of NSScreen.screens. However, there is a problem, the y position of the window seems to be relative to the screen. As it is not absolute position, I cannot compare it with the coordinate of the screen. Does anyone know if there are other information that I can use? Or is there a way to retrieve the absolute position or screen ID from the GCWIndow object?

Unable to package in UE5.6
Im new in the Mac area but for sure not UE. Windows is a long process to packaging but it could be done. All the documentation for Epic and from the internet is basically non existent with exactly how to package a project within UE. I have Xcode installed which makes sense, agreed to terms and install for MacOS, I've been able to make a project for several weeks now and want to package for a test run for my friends to play on Windows. Now I just get this in the log: UATHelper: Packaging (Mac): ERROR: Failed to finalize the .app with Xcode. Check the log for more information UATHelper: Packaging (Mac): Trace written to file /Users/rileysleger/Library/Logs/Unreal Engine/LocalBuildLogs/UBA-ProjectNightTerror-Mac-Development.uba with size 12.6kb UATHelper: Packaging (Mac): Total time in Unreal Build Accelerator local executor: 8.12 seconds UATHelper: Packaging (Mac): Result: Failed (OtherCompilationError) UATHelper: Packaging (Mac): Total execution time: 9.71 seconds PackagingResults: Error: Failed to finalize the .app with Xcode. Warning code: 00000006 will affect background survival
Our APP has integrated 3D function, in order to reduce the memory occupation of the APP in the background, we will uninstall the 3D after the APP enters the background. However, the uninstall also causes problems. When the uninstall process is executed in the background, the app will briefly trigger the background GPU rendering error warning with the error warning code: OGPUMetalError: Insufficient Permission (to submit GPU work from background) (00000006:kIOGPUCommandBufferCallbackErrorBackgroundExecutionNotPermitted) Execution of the command buffer was aborted due to an error during execution. Insufficient Permission (to submit GPU Work from background) (00000006: kIOGPUCommandBufferCallbackErrorBackgroundExecutionNotPermitted) excuse me this warning system will tighten APP permissions background? For example, limit or shorten the background survival time of the APP. In addition, will the background refresh function fail, resulting in the failure of Bluetooth Ibeacon activation?

Resources for Retro style Games wanting 90 degree Window corners
I've been thinking of bringing some older games back to the modern Mac. Rewriting old titles in Swift but using the original data files that assume use of non-rounded corners Windows. Many of these games require all the Window space of a 90 degree cornered Window. Can anyone point me at some useful workarounds or Is Apple simply deaf to the needs of this type of product?

CustomMetalView sample uses deprecated functions - update?
The sample code here, has code like: // Create a display link capable of being used with all active displays cvReturn = CVDisplayLinkCreateWithActiveCGDisplays(&_displayLink); But that function's doc says it's deprecated and to use NSView/NSWindow/NSScreen displayLink instead. That returns CADisplayLink, not CVDisplayLink. Also the documentation for that displayLink method is completely empty. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to add it to run loop, or what, after I get it. It would be nice to get an updated version of this sample project and/or have some documentation in NSView.displayLink

How to play Vorbis/OGG files with swift?
Does anyone have a working example on how to play OGG files with swift? I've been trying for over a year now. I was able to wrap the C Vorbis library in swift. I then used it to parse an OGG file successfully. Then I was required to use Obj-C\++ to fill the PCM because this method seems to only be available in C\++ and that part hangs my app for a good 40 seconds to several minutes depending on the audio file, it then plays for about 2 seconds and then crashes. I can't get the examples on the Vorbis site to work in objective-c and i tried every example on github I could find (most of which are for iOS - I want to play the files on mac) I also tried using Cricket Audio framework below. https://github.com/sjmerel/ck It has a swift example and it can play their proprietary soundbank format but it is also supposed to play OGG and it just doesn't do anything when trying to play OGG as you can see in the posted issue https://github.com/sjmerel/ck/issues/3 Right now I believe every player that can play OGGs on mac is written in Objective-C or C++. Anyway, any help/advice is appreciated. OGG format is very prevalent in the gaming community. I could use unity, which I believe plays oggs through the mono framework but I really really want to stay in swift.

Unknown CHHapticError.Code (1852797029 == 'nope') in iOS 18+ on iPhone 11 Pro
Hello, I'm getting this error when launching a SpriteKit Swift game in iOS 18+ on an iPhone 11 Pro, whose shell is partly damaged in the back: CHHapticEngine.mm:1206 -[CHHapticEngine doStartWithCompletionHandler:]_block_invoke: ERROR: Player start failed: The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.CoreHaptics error 1852797029.) Haptics do not work on this device, due to the damaged shell, so some error — which obviously occurs when calling start(completionHandler:) — is definitely expected; what is not expected is the main thread sometimes blocking for up to 5 seconds — although the method is not called from the main thread... the error itself is always displayed from some other secondary (system) thread. During this time, the main thread does not access the haptics engine at all; on average, it blocks once every four or five launches. In each launch (blocking or not), the 'nope' error is displayed ~5 seconds after trying to start the engine. After going nuts with all kinds of breakpoints and instrumentation, I'm at a loss as to why the main thread would sometimes block... Ideas, anyone? Thank you, D.

RealityView postProcess effect depth texture
Hello, Question re: iOS RealityView postProcess. I've got a working postProcess kernel and I'd like to add some depth-based effects to it. Theoretically I should be able to just do: encoder.setTexture(context.sourceDepthTexture, index: 1) and then in the kernel: texture2d<float, access::read> depthIn [[texture(1)]] ... outTexture.write(depthIn.read(gid), gid); And I consistently see all black rendered to the view. The postProcess shader works, so that's not the issue. It just seems to not be receiving actual depth information. (If I set a breakpoint at the encoder setTexture step, I can see preview the color texture of the scene, but the context's depthTexture looks like all NaN / blank.) I've looked at all the WWDC samples, but they include ARView for all the depth sample code, which has a different set of configuration options than RealityView. So far I haven't seen anywhere to explicitly tell RealityView "include the depth information". So I'm not sure if I'm missing something there. It appears that there is indeed a depth texture being passed, but it looks blank. Is there a working example somewhere that we can reference?

WWDC25 Metal & game technologies group lab
Hello, Thank you for attending today’s Metal & game technologies group lab at WWDC25! We were delighted to answer many questions from developers and energized by the community engagement. We hope you enjoyed it and welcome your feedback. We invite you to carry on the conversation here, particularly if your question appeared in Slido and we were unable to answer it during the lab. If your question received feedback let us know if you need clarification. You may want to ask your question again in a different lab e.g. visionOS tomorrow. (We realize that this can be confusing when frameworks interoperate) We have a lot to learn from each other so let’s get to Q&A and make the best of WWDC25! 😃 Looking forward to your questions posted in new threads.

VisionOS VideoMaterial on 3D Mesh
I'm trying to get video material to work on an imported 3D asset, and this asset is a USDC file. There's actually an example in this WWDC video from Apple. You can see it running on the flag in this airplane, but there are no examples of this, and there are no other examples on the internet. Does anybody know how to do this? You can look at 10:34 in this video. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/realitykit/videomaterial

xCode26.x Metal4 classes do not compile
Hi, I am using xCode26.x. But my Metal4 classes are not compiling. I downloaded the sample code from Apple's website - https://developer.apple.com/documentation/Metal/processing-a-texture-in-a-compute-function. For example, I am getting errors like "Cannot find protocol declaration for 'MTL4CommandQueue'; I have hit a deadline. Any recommendations are very welcome. I have downloaded the Metal Tool chain.
