Hello,
Now I would like to export my PDF's as PDF/A. In my opinion, there is also the right option for this under Core Graphics.
Unfortunately, the documentation does not show what is 'kCGPDFContextCreatePDFA' or 'kCGPDFContextLinearizedPDF' for
a stringvalue is required.
What I have already tried: GTS_PDFA1 , PDF/A-1, true as CFString.
(Above my CFDictionary. ...Author e.g are working perfectly.)
In the Finder you can see these two options, which I would also like to implement in my app.
Thank you in advance!

Hey folks,
I have a legacy game that is running OpenGL ES - and it no longer works on the simulators that are running Apple Silicon, ie iPhone 15 Pro, or the 13" iPads. And yes, i'm also running on Apple Silicon (M1 Max).
The apps work fine on the actual devices, but the simulator crashes on any glDrawElements with a stack that looks like the following:
I have not yet seen an announcement about this not working but i've seen mention in other apps of stopping to support GL (https://github.com/maplibre/maplibre-native/issues/2351)
Can anyone shed some light? I'm obviously going to try to fix it, or find a recent sample app from which to start to see what might be up. Or move to metal, but i hadn't bargained for that level of effort atm ;)
Any suggestions appreciated!
I'm new here so I don't know what's this function belongs to which topic... Sorry about that!
I watched the WWDC stream and I am really interested in this function, I'm wondering if this function could be used in my apps.
I looked up the document but I find it only support visionOS(i'm not sure about that, but I saw the demo is base on the visionOS)
Hi everyone,
I’m developing an iPad app that will be running continuously with the screen always on — similar to a restaurant ordering system.
I understand that some of the newer iPad Pro models are equipped with OLED displays. I'm concerned about the potential risk of screen burn-in due to static UI elements being displayed for extended periods.
Does burn-in occur on the OLED iPad Pro models under such usage?
Would it be advisable to implement a screen saver or periodically animate/change parts of the UI to prevent this?
Any insights or best practices would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm trying to build an MDLMesh then add normals
let mdlMesh = MDLMesh.newBox(withDimensions: SIMD3<Float>(1, 1, 1),
segments: SIMD3<UInt32>(2, 2, 2),
geometryType: MDLGeometryType.triangles,
inwardNormals:false,
allocator: allocator)
mdlMesh.addNormals(withAttributeNamed: MDLVertexAttributeNormal, creaseThreshold: 0)
When I render the mesh, some normals are (0,0,0). I don't know if the problem is in the mesh, or in the conversion to MTKMesh. Is there a way to examine an MDLMesh with the geometry viewer?
When I look at the variable values for my mdlMesh I get this:
Not too useful. I don't know how to track down the normals.
What's the best way to find out where the normals getting broken?
I have several games on the app store which are setup as "For Kids" which means these games cannot have any way to access the outside world including the App Store. No problem. These games have worked fine for years until iOS 26.
Now, all my updates are being rejected because the new version of Game Center running on iPadOS 26 has a way for people to exit the game and go to the App Store. I have no control over this since it's built into Game Center, and the app review folks want me to put a "parental gate" on it, but there's no way to do that because... well... it's in Game Center, not my code.
So, I'm unable to update my apps because of this. Presumably, the existing versions on the app store still do this exact same thing, so my update isn't going to make any difference. Does anyone know of a way to make that crap at the top go away so this isn't an issue?

Hey all! I'm got my hands on a refurbished mac mini m1 and already diving into metal. At the moment, i'm currently studying graphics programming with opengl and got to a point where I can almost create a 3d cube. However, I noticed there aren't many tutorials for metal cpp but rather demos. One thing I love about graphic programming, is skinning/skeletal animation. At the moment, I can't find any sources or tutorials on how to load skeletal animations into metal-cpp. So, if I create my character in blender and had all types of animations all loaded into a .FBX or maybe .DAE and load this into metal api with metal-cpp, how can I go on about how this works?
Had anyone experienced convexCast causing a crash and what might be behind it?
Here's the call stack:
Hello,
When testing GameKit "Manage Game Progress" in Xcode 26:
On iOS devices, achievements, leaderboards, and party code data display and work correctly.
On macOS devices, none of these data appear in "Manage Game Progress."
Is this a known issue with macOS GameKit, or is there a limitation compared to iOS?
If it is not a bug, is there any additional configuration needed to make achievements and leaderboards visible on macOS?
I also included the GameKit bundle in my macOS app and enabled Enable Debug Mode in GameKit Configuration in the scheme options.
Thank you.
I have two apps released -- ReefScan and ReefBuild -- that are based on the WWDC21 sample photogrammetry apps for iOS and MacOS. Those run fine without LiDAR and are used mostly for underwater models where LiDAR does not work at all. It now appears that the updated photogrammetry session requires LiDAR data, and building my app on current xcode results in a non-working app. Has the "old" version of photgrammetry session been broken by this update? It worked very well previously so I would hate to see this regression to needing LiDAR. Most of my users do not have that.

hello i am new to apple ecosystem and development i have some coding experience with c# now i like to develop my game for iphone 16 and up(due to ability to run ai models) but i am having hard time figuring out what to use there is a lot of resources for scene-kit but on its doc page it says its deprecated so i look at the reality-kit docs and tutorials and its strictly tells how to develop for visionos and i am really confused about this since there is no tutorials that shows how to develop a game for ios with reality-kit that does not focus visionos. i just want to develop for iphone 16 and up but i cant find resources focuses at that.

There is a sample project from Apple here. It has a scene of a city at night and you can move in it.
It basically has 2 parts:
application code written in what looks like Objective-C (I am more familiar with C++), which inherits from things like NSObject, MTKView, NSViewController and so on - it processes input and all app-related and window-related stuff.
rendering code that also looks like Objective-C. Btw both parts are mostly in .mm files (Obj-C++ AFAIK). The application part directly uses only one class from the rendering part - AAPLRenderer.
I want to move the rendering part to C++ using metal-cpp. For that I need to link metal-cpp to the project. I did it successfully with blank projects several times before using this tutorial. But with this sample project Xcode can't find Foundation/Foundation.hpp (and other metal-cpp headers). The error says this:
Did not find header 'Foundation.hpp' in framework 'Foundation' (loaded from '/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX15.0.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks')
Pls help
I'm using a class with tangents to render on RealityKit for VisionOS but in Vision26 it cause a crash on App and there not documentation how implement cp_drawable_compute_projection I have tried a few options but without success. Could you help me to implement it ?
The part of code is:
return drawable.views.map { view in
let userViewpointMatrix = (simdDeviceAnchor * view.transform).inverse
let projectionMatrix = ProjectiveTransform3D(
leftTangent: Double(view.tangents[0]),
rightTangent: Double(view.tangents[1]),
topTangent: Double(view.tangents[2]),
bottomTangent: Double(view.tangents[3]),
nearZ: Double(drawable.depthRange.y),
farZ: Double(drawable.depthRange.x),
reverseZ: true
)
let screenSize = SIMD2(x: Int(view.textureMap.viewport.width),
y: Int(view.textureMap.viewport.height))
return ModelRendererViewportDescriptor(viewport: view.textureMap.viewport,
projectionMatrix: .init(projectionMatrix),
viewMatrix: userViewpointMatrix * translationMatrix * rotationMatrix * scalingMatrix * commonUpCalibration,
screenSize: screenSize)
}
Can't seem to get the Metal HUD to display value range's (pre 26 Tahoe). The documented environment variable MTL_HUD_SHOW_VALUE_RANGE doesn't seem to work.

Anyone having any luck?

How to create a beautiful fire animation using Swift?
Which API is better to use?
I need a MeshResource from ModelEntity to generate a box collider, but ModelEntity fails to load USDZ files from the Reality Composer Pro (RCP) bundle.
This code works for loading an Entity:
// Successfully loads as generic Entity
previewEntity = try await Entity(named: fileName, in: realityKitContentBundle)
But this fails when trying to load as ModelEntity:
// Fails to load as ModelEntity
modelEntity = try await ModelEntity(named: fileName, in: realityKitContentBundle)
I found this thread mentioning:
"You'll likely go from USDZ to Entity which contains a MeshResource when you load/init the USDZ file."
But it doesn't explain how to actually extract the MeshResource. Could anyone advise:
How to properly load USDZ files as ModelEntity from RCP bundles?
How to extract MeshResource from a successfully loaded Entity?
Alternative approaches to generate box colliders if direct extraction isn't possible?
Sample code for extraction or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!
i play Roblox and ever since I've got this update the quality graphics stability Internet ping and a lot of other stuff has drastically been worse
I rewrote my graphics pipeline to use Load/Store better for clearing and don't care cases. All my tests pass, and in the Metal debugger, all the draw calls succeed.
But when I present drawables (before [commandBuffer commit]) I only get a pink screen. I've tried everything I can think of: making sure the pixel formats are the same for the back buffer as my render targets, etc. But it's still pink.
Could you point me in the right direction so I can fix this, or help describe why it's pink. That would be really helpful.
Thank you,
Brian Hapgood

Metal
Hello,
Shaders in our application is written using HLSL and we rely on Metal Shader Converter to convert DXIL to Metal IR. We ran into an issue that causes metal pipeline state creation to fail when vertex stage-in function is used on AMD GPUs.
Here's the error reported by Metal in Xcode output:
Compiler failed with XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED
XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED
MTLCompiler: Compilation failed with XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED on 4 try. This error suggests an unexpected interruption in the connection. Possible reasons: a crash in the compiler service, termination by the OS due to resource constraints (e.g., jetsam), a timeout in the service, or an issue with IPC. Verify system stability and check the logs for more details.
Compiler failed with XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INVALID
XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INVALID
MTLCompiler: Compiler encountered XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INVALID: failed to check-in, peer may have been unloaded: mach_error=10000003 (is the OS shutting down or process jetsammed?)
Compilation failed due to an interrupted connection: XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED. This error occurred after multiple retries.
which seems to indicate a internal compiler error.
I have a minimal repro here: https://github.com/kcloudy0717/metal_pso_fail/tree/main, simply follow the instructions in README.
I didn't find a suggestion box on Swift's website so I'll post it here.
SwiftCharts are great but limited. I need more data on a single chart. Candlestick and OHLC type charts would be an excellent addition. Hopefully, influencers from Apple can make that happen.
Thanks.
