Download Container downloads only partial container
In Xcode Version 16.2 (16C5032a) - and previous versions too, the download container in the Devices & Simulators functionality no longer works. It will start downloading the container, however it will also: show NO download progress fail to download the whole container (the downloaded container is missing whole directories, eg. AppData/Library is missing - where my application stores the CoreData db) show no errors This was tested with the XCode version stated above (and previous versions) and with iPhone XR (18.1.1 - MR42CN/A) and with iPad (17.7.2 - MR7F2FD/A). How can I debug this issue / make the Xcode download the whole container? Running on Mac mini 15.1.1 (24B91).

Xcode Bug in Package Dependencies
in Project/Package Dependencies, some problem occurs while i add Exact Version value like '1.1.0-0fec058'. the finally value i input will be random updated to 1.0.0 or other value. Reproduce by input any version value like '1.2.0-"0"' which second part begin with 0. So bad experience.

Save Data from Swift Playgrounds App (Mac)
How do you save data from a Swift Playgrounds App on the Mac? I get an error 'playgroundSharedDataDirectory is not supported in Swift Playgrounds' I think it's doable, some of the Swift Playgrounds tutorials remember the pages I've completed. This is with Playgrounds 4.5.1 on a Mac mini M2 Pro running OSX 14.7 (Sonoma) Ideally, I'd like to save multiple 'documents' and allow the user to select which one they want to work with. The documents don't need to be visible to other Apps. Thanks in advance

Xcode crash when recording UI test
I'm trying to use Xcode UI tests for the first time. I added a UI Tests target and set up the signing, then opened the default AppnameUITests.swift file. I added a new function named testAboutPage(), clicked inside the block and clicked the Record UI Test button (red circle) at the bottom of the editor window. If the app is already running when I do this, Xcode crashes immediately. If the app is not running, Xcode builds and runs the app, then crashes. I've seen reports of this going back years, but none of the posts have a solution. I do have a crash log to share. Does anyone know how to get past this? This forum won't let me upload the complete crash log because it exceeds the size limit, but here's the first part through the stack trace of the crashed thread: Process: Xcode [46652] Path: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode Identifier: com.apple.dt.Xcode Version: 16.2 (23507) Build Info: IDEApplication-23507000000000000~2 (16C5032a) App Item ID: 497799835 App External ID: 870964517 Code Type: ARM-64 (Native) Parent Process: launchd [1] User ID: 503 Date/Time: 2025-02-04 12:58:05.5200 -0800 OS Version: macOS 15.3 (24D60) Report Version: 12 Anonymous UUID: 144B0B99-8D44-736B-0D9A-1F6FA6DF85F7 Time Awake Since Boot: 48000 seconds System Integrity Protection: enabled Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000 Termination Reason: Namespace SIGNAL, Code 6 Abort trap: 6 Terminating Process: Xcode [46652] Application Specific Information: abort() called Application Specific Signatures: ((result)) != nil Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread 0 libsystem_kernel.dylib 0x18a3b3720 __pthread_kill + 8 1 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0x18a3ebf70 pthread_kill + 288 2 libsystem_c.dylib 0x18a2f8908 abort + 128 3 IDEKit 0x109e81554 +[IDEAssertionHandler _handleAssertionWithLogString:assertionSignature:assertionReason:extraBacktrace:] + 964 4 IDEKit 0x109e819e4 -[IDEAssertionHandler handleFailureInMethod:object:fileName:lineNumber:assertionSignature:messageFormat:arguments:] + 876 5 DVTFoundation 0x10600d358 _DVTAssertionHandler + 424 6 DVTFoundation 0x10600d4d8 _DVTAssertionFailureHandler + 196 7 IDEKit 0x10a1f99e4 -[IDEUIRecordingManager _workspaceTabController] + 176 8 IDEKit 0x10a1fa528 __94-[IDEUIRecordingManager _startRecordingWithLaunchSession:alwaysAskForAPIAccess:reservedNames:]_block_invoke_3 + 252 9 DVTFoundation 0x10611fc9c __DVT_CALLING_CLIENT_BLOCK__ + 16 10 DVTFoundation 0x1061206c4 __DVTDispatchAsync_block_invoke + 152 11 libdispatch.dylib 0x18a237854 _dispatch_call_block_and_release + 32 12 libdispatch.dylib 0x18a2395b4 _dispatch_client_callout + 20 13 libdispatch.dylib 0x18a248040 _dispatch_main_queue_drain + 984 14 libdispatch.dylib 0x18a247c58 _dispatch_main_queue_callback_4CF + 44 15 CoreFoundation 0x18a5139d0 __CFRUNLOOP_IS_SERVICING_THE_MAIN_DISPATCH_QUEUE__ + 16 16 CoreFoundation 0x18a4d35bc __CFRunLoopRun + 1996 17 CoreFoundation 0x18a4d2734 CFRunLoopRunSpecific + 588 18 HIToolbox 0x195a41530 RunCurrentEventLoopInMode + 292 19 HIToolbox 0x195a47348 ReceiveNextEventCommon + 676 20 HIToolbox 0x195a47508 _BlockUntilNextEventMatchingListInModeWithFilter + 76 21 AppKit 0x18e04a848 _DPSNextEvent + 660 22 AppKit 0x18e9b0c24 -[NSApplication(NSEventRouting) _nextEventMatchingEventMask:untilDate:inMode:dequeue:] + 688 23 AppKit 0x18e03d874 -[NSApplication run] + 480 24 IDEKit 0x109e50f14 -[IDEApplication run] + 192 25 AppKit 0x18e014068 NSApplicationMain + 888 26 dyld 0x18a06c274 start + 2840

How to exclude header files from 3rd party pods from getting the Apple Clang warning policies?
I have the 'warnings as errors' policy set to Yes for Apple Clang and Swift compiler. As far as I know, there is no way to make exceptions to the warning policies from Swift compiler (correct me if I am wrong), what about Clang warning policies, specifically when it comes to header files from 3rd party pods? They don't show up on the Compile Sources so I can't apply flags such as -Wno-error=deprecated to them. Adding #pragma GCC... to them won't help as a fresh pod install will wipe the #pragma statements out. Is there a way to exclude the header files from pods from getting the warning policies from Clang so I won't see errors from them when compiling Clang modules that's a part of the build process?

Day 5 of Apple Developer Support – Urgent Review Delay & Lack of Response
I am now on Day 5 of waiting for our Apple Developer Program approval, and despite multiple attempts to get an update, I have received no meaningful response from Apple. I have: ✅ Successfully paid membership fee and received invoice for same ✅ Reached out via support tickets, but got 0 replies. This delay is unreasonable and impacting my work. I am prepared to launch a critical app that aligns with Apple’s ecosystem and guidelines, but Apple’s lack of communication is preventing me from moving forward. After lot of hard work and resources I have completed app development and set up other processes for marketing. I demand a real update from an Apple Developer Program representative today. • Not silence. • A direct response with a timeline for approval. Apple claims to support developers, but these excessive delays and lack of transparency tell a different story. If there is a legitimate issue, I expect clear communication. If there isn’t, we expect this approval to be completed immediately. Apple, please address this case today. I cannot afford further inaction. Order ID: MNTHQYXGLN

No response from appeal
Hello, In 2024 I received notice of Apple Developer Account termination (Team ID: FCKZLDS8EQ) (with no reason) and in 5 days I have sended the appeal. After 30+ days - my account was terminated. The notification said that I only have a month to file an appeal, I did it within 5 days, but neither during the month nor so far - I have not received a response. Also, after the appeal, I contacted support saying that there was no response to the appeal and still remained unanswered to these tickets: 102346160903 and 102349953096. I described everything in detail in that appeal. I have an Apple Developer membership since 2014 and this is some kind of misunderstanding, I have an old trusted developer account without any violations.

can't get Xcode not to build x86_64 for Swift Packages
I'm trying to improve my build time on macOS by not building for x86_64. I've got the following settings: This gets Xcode not to build x86_64 for my app, but not all the package dependencies. I've updated most of the packages to swift-tools-version: 6.0 but FlatBuffers is still on 5.8 and .macOS(.v10_14). GPT claims: If your deployment target is set to macOS 10.15 or earlier, Xcode may force x86_64 support for compatibility reasons. But Xcode is building x86_64 for ALL my packages, even the ones that don't depend on FlatBuffers. When I open a package in Xcode that depends on FlatBuffers, then it builds arm only, so that may be a red herring. Not sure what else to try.

Metal Integration with SwiftUI
Hello! I have asked this question in previous years, but I want to make sure I can be safe as each challenge could be different. Are applicants for the Swift Student Challenge allowed to use the features and technologies involved with Metal/MetalKit? Last year, the answer was yes. I have seen a few people here and there use it with Swift and won. I would like to know if we can use it for the 2025 challenge for this year as well. Thanks! :)

Configuring "high frequency sampling"
Hey folks, We are looking for a way to increase the sampling frequency beyong what's currently called "high frequency sampling" for CPU profiler (or time profiler -- doesn't really matter for us). We are aware that this is not offered through the UI but wondering if we can somehow experimentally enable this via the .tracetemplate (plist). Basically, we see that samplingRate exists (in the plist) but don't see it having an effect on the actual runs. The resulting trace file always lists sample-rate-micro-seconds="1000" for the data table. E.g., <table trigger="time" pmc-events="Cycles" target-pid="SINGLE" schema="counters-profile" needs-kernel-callstack="0" sample-rate-micro-seconds="1000"/> Cheers

Enrollment Stuck
I have enrolled for being a developer 4 days ago. My Enrollment ID: R2V23J5GYP. I have received an order acknowledgment email on 6th of March but there have been no updates since then. I am still seeing 'complete your purchase' in the main page. What should I do to get through? I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me solve this problem as soon as possible. Thank you.

Info.plist
Hello, im trying to get my app to be able to ask the device for permission to have access to the camera. To do so i created an info.plist and turned off the generate Info.plist file in packaging. I then added what i believe are all the necessary keys. However, when i try to build and test on my phone i keep running an error that says that my app has a missing or invalid CFBundleExecutable in its info.plist. I tried to fix it by adding Key: CFBundleExecutable Type: String Value: $(EXECUTABLE_NAME) However, this isnt working. I have already added a BundleIdentifier using my com.name.appname the Bundle version string and Bundle Version. Now im not fully sure what to put to fix this issue. Is there another way to get the camera to work without having to create an info.plist? Or is this the only way?

Even after archiving and installing the app, it still crashes. According to the official documentation, Xcode 16 is supposed to support iOS 12, but this issue persists. I would like to know the possible reasons for this behavior.

Toggle off inline pull request comments in Xcode
Xcode renders a beautiful bubble with PR comments inline with my code. However, I'd like to edit my code without that comment in the way. How do I turn / toggle that feature off? I've looked through Settings for editing and source control, menus for the editor and view, as well as the drop down menus and diff toggles for the specific editor box.

Gaps in Xcode build timeline
Reposting (after a while) from the Swift forums - the build timeline for our project has a lot of weird gaps in the beginning - almost 15 seconds in total, which is quite a big chunk of the total build time. Is there any way to determine why they exist or how I could fix them? I hope it's just something hidden and not the build system literally doing nothing... This is on Xcode 15.4.
