Where is swift assist?
Swift assist has been announced by apple this year. I have waited Xcode 16.2 release before posting this because I was still hopping for swift assist this year but apple DIDN'T release swift assist and they haven't post anything about swift assist reported or something... What's going to happen with swift assist? Coming next year?

iOS app fails to run with Xcode 16 & less than iOS17.0 no issue with Xocde 15
When I build and rum my iOS app with xocde 16.0 or higher version with my 16.0 iOS, 17.0 iOS, if fails to run with error. (Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore) I found this error after update my macOS and xcode (Ventura -> Sequoia, Xcode 15.2 -> 16.2). I try to setting '-weak_framework SwiftUI' for solve this error with this post (https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/126506). But when applied, an error occurred in modify on all swiftUI. If a project is built with a simulator over 18 versions, it runs smoothly. *issue project is with tac or tuist. There are two projects in question, and each configuration is (1.17.0 tca + 4.37.0) / (tuist 3.4.0). Does anyone have any pointers as where I even start to debug this issue and narrow down on what's going on with Xcode 16?

Trouble Seeing print debug statements
I am working on an XCode project and I have some Swift functions within a helper functions file. This file has some functions declared that create 3 global variables. These global variables are then used in various views throughout the app. In the functions, there are print statements for when it catches an error. However, when I run the app and I get an error that stems from this file, there are no print statements. How can I have this print statements show up in the debug console?

Error when compiling with Xcode 16.2
I'm trying to compile my iPad app with Xcode 16.2 and I'm consistently getting this error message: couldn't find compile unit for the macro table with offset = 0x0 This is happening at the GenerateDSymFile step. I've tried changing the debug format from Dwarf with Dsym to Dwarf and then back again, as I've read there was a problem with generating the dsyms. But the problem persists. I've tried searching for this error and found nothing online, so apparently I'm the only one! How strange. Are there any settings or flags I can change to try to get more information about what's going wrong?

Sync IOS cursor to app cursor.
My app controls the cursor within its text area. Upon touching the screen the ios moves the cursor when dragging. The app cursor and the IOS cursor are now out of sync. Is there a way to set the app cursor to the IOS cursor? I have checked many sources to no avail. Thanks for your help. Charlie

LLDB error: type for self cannot be reconstructed: type for typename
All is fine in Xcode15, no LLDB errors whatsoever, but in Xcode16 I can't get any variable displayed in the console because of the following error: error: type for self cannot be reconstructed: type for typename "$......." was not found (cached) error: Couldn't realize Swift AST type of self. Hint: using `v` to directly inspect variables and fields may still work. I've checked the output of swift-healthcheck and there are several messages like this: SwiftASTContextForExpressions(module: "ROA", cu: "ROA+ViewLayer.swift")::LoadOneModule() -- Missing Swift module or Clang module found for "UIKit", "imported" via SwiftDWARFImporterDelegate. Hint: Register Swift modules with the linker using -add_ast_path. I added -add_ast_path to the OTHER_LDFLAGS in the faulty module's build settings but no luck. How can I debug my project in Xcode16?

Need to know how to stop indentation
Xcode 16 unindents lines if I choose a code-completion and I cannot find a way to stop this - does anybody know how to stop it? Here's a link to a gif demonstrating this problem - it's incredibly frustrating. https://i.imgur.com/jaDpzpb.gif Thanks in advance

Certificate is not temporally valid
I'm attempting to test an in app purchase for my app on my phone (not in a simulator, not sandbox testing). I'm getting an error that certificate check has failed. Could this have anything to do with the SHA-1 warnings that Apple has recently mentioned? I've tried regenerating my StoreKit file, cleaning the build, restarting XCode, resetting all of my devices purchases from the Debug > StoreKit menu, all with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 2025-01-10 19:52:19.974564-0500 MyApp[74478:30675548] [Default] Failed to verify certificate chain due to client recoverable failure: Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-67818 "“StoreKit Testing in Xcode” certificate is expired" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=“StoreKit Testing in Xcode” certificate is expired, NSUnderlyingError=0x3027b9d40 {Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-67818 "Certificate 0 “StoreKit Testing in Xcode” has errors: Certificate is not temporally valid;" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Certificate 0 “StoreKit Testing in Xcode” has errors: Certificate is not temporally valid;}}} 2025-01-10 19:52:19.978233-0500 MyApp[74478:30675483] [Default] Failed to verify signature for Transaction, will assume invalid: failedToVerifyCertificateChain Purchase succeeded but verification failed: Certificate Chain Invalid Failed to purchase Premium: invalidCertificateChain saveUnencrypted: Started saving form_info.json saveUnencrypted: Saved form_info.json to Documents Directory in 9 ms (JSONEncoder chunk-based copy-on-write, 1 chunks) at ...

Reproducible Builds on iOS
Dear Apple Developer Forum! I'm in need of help regarding an issue that has to do with binaries. I'm building an iOS App that needs a fingerprint of its binaries, exclusively based on the source code written. A "reproducible" build, meaning that when I compile it on my machine and run checksum on it, the output (hash) will be the same, as if another device clones the project, compiles and checksums the values. The App depends on swift packages which depends on Swift Packages, which I've managed to compile to .o files, convert to .a files (static frameworks) and create xcframeworks, which the App depends on. They work great, once compiled, their checksum value does not change when App is compiled (unless source code of them is changed of course), but the Apps executable (checksummed inside the IPA) changes every time it's compiled. I'm guessing that perhaps the Xcode compiler injects a timestamp or other unique identifier in the binaries? Is there any way to have "reproducible" builds on iOS (Swift Xcode)? All input is greatly appreciated, Thank you very much, Kind regards Johan.

Empty dSYM file detected & Error: type for self cannot be reconstructed: type for typename
I'm pulling my hair out here with this new Xcode 16, it complains that my app's dSYM is empty though it's clearly not, it's about 25MB. I'm working on a project using an internal static library, everything is built inhouse using swift, we own all the source code. It worked just fine until the other week, when I updated the Xcode, and now I can't debug anything. I keep getting "type for self cannot be reconstructed" when I run "po self.some_property". Why is that? The Debug information Format is set to DWARF with dSYM File for both the executable and lib projects. I've been a Unix guy since before I knew myself and I enjoy fixing things myself, down to bare metal, but man, this bug is driving me crazy. Is it even a bug?? It's the first time in more than 15 years since I started coding on Mac and iPhone when a bug has defeated me. I was always able to fix things using just the documentation and google, but the Apple toolchain is getting worse and worse nowadays. I remember the time when Apple made the complicated things simple, now they make the simple things complicated :( I just split the static lib from the main project one year ago, because of the ridiculously long build time. Should I merge back all the code in a single project? Something seems wrong to me. So I created this account to ask the masters. How can I get back my debug info (and sanity)? Using Xcode 15 is not an option because it doesn't run on Sequoia.

How to Resolve Core Data Composite Attributes Errors in Xcode?
How do I resolve these errors reported in Xcode about using Core Data Composite Attributes feature? Composite Attributes feature requires tvOS deployment target 17.0 or later Composite Attributes feature requires watchOS deployment target 10.0 or later My app is a Cocoa app and targets macOS 14.0+. I do not have an iOS, iPadOS, tvOS nor watchOS targets. So, I don't understand why I am getting these errors. My Xcode project format is set to Xcode 16.0. I am on macOS Sequoia 15.2 (24C101) and using Xcode Version 16.2 (16C5032a). If you create a new Xcode project and choose macOS > App and Storage > Core Data and then Add Composite Type and set an attribute name and type, you will get the errors.

How to build an iOS app using the command line on macOS Sonoma?
Hello, Now we support Apple applications and we are building applications on Mac laptops with regular updates. Our goal is to build an iOS app entirely through the command line using xcodebuild and other tools from Xcode Command Line Tools on a server with _macOS Sonoma (14.6.1) without a graphical user interface (only the command line)!!! We need to build and regularly update iOS applications on clients and our accounts and we are looking for a solution to fully automate the login process for these accounts. Our goal is to automate these processes on a server without involving a customer. Here’s what I need help with building and signing the app: What are the proper commands to build and sign the app using xcodebuild and put this application in Apple Store? Server has: xcode-select -version xcode-select version 2408. xcodebuild -version Xcode 16.1 Build version 16B40. In the first step, the certificates have been added to the keychain. We have two keychains. We can check it by running the command: security list-keychains: ` "/Users/ec2-user/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db" "/Library/Keychains/System.keychain".` All certificates are kept in login.keychain-db. We can check it: security find-identity -p codesigning -v Answer is: `'Some hash "Apple Distribution: Name. (TEAM ID)"'.` Profision file is kept in /Users/ec2-user/Library/MobileDevice/Provisioning\ Profiles/. In the first step, we have added a cordova platform with iOS 11 version. Command is: cordova platform add ios. We tried to create a sign archive with automation but we couldn't do it because we got an error. Our command is xcodebuild \ -workspace "path/to/Packet-name Test.xcworkspace" \ -scheme "Packet-name Test" \ -sdk iphoneos \ -configuration Release \ -archivePath "./Packet-name Test.xcarchive" \ CODE_SIGN_STYLE=Automatic \ DEVELOPMENT_TEAM=XXXXXXXXXX \ -allowProvisioningUpdates \ archive We get errors: /Users/ec2-user/buildApps/MyNewApplication/packet-name.test/platforms/ios/Packet-name Test.xcodeproj: error: No Accounts: Add a new account in Accounts settings. (in target 'Packet-name Test' from project 'Packet-name Test') /Users/ec2-user/buildApps/MyNewApplication/packet-name.test/platforms/ios/Packet-name Test.xcodeproj: error: No profiles for 'packet-name.test' were found: Xcode couldn't find any iOS App Development provisioning profiles matching 'packet-name.test'. (in target 'Packet-name Test' from project 'Packet-name Test') We've read about this error so the decision is to create one-time passwords for this. Certainly last error is about a problem with login, but how we can fix it we don't know because we will be using different accounts for different applications. As a result, we have to use one-time passwords for different accounts. We would appreciate detailed instructions, example commands, and references to documentation that might address this workflow.

FYI: Xcode and Disk Space
I discovered a disk space issue with Xcode on my 1TB hard disk. Xcode doesn’t delete old or unused Simulators, causing them to mix and consume valuable space. Deleting them from the Window > Devices & Simulators menu didn’t work, so I used Disk Utility to find and delete them. However, they persisted. To regain disk space, I completely removed Xcode and the Developer Folder. After reinstalling Xcode, I regained about 80% of my disk space. Despite unmounting the Simulators, they remained. For those unable or unwilling to do this, the Mac App Store offers DevCleaner, a utility that removes old Xcode Cache and Simulators. Thanks. I hope I've helped someone else. Dan Uff

No new Xcode beta Since 16.2 Release on Dec 11
Not a question, but a surprise. Did I miss something, but apparently there has been no new beta release (16.3) since Release of 16.2 on Dec 11. 2 months without betas is really unusual (in fact, it never happened and usually, next beta n+1 is even released before the final release of version n). So does that mean 16.3 will be a major update ? Wait and see.
