Hello, do the String Catalogs (new in Xcode 15) support Swift Packages?
I've tried adding a new Localizable.xcstrings (string catalog) file to my package's resources folder.
Great! I then see this screen:
All good so far.
I then try to go and build my Swift Package... and nothing changes. The string catalog is never populated and I'm left with the same screen as above.
So, do string catalogs not support packages at this time or am I doing something wrong?
I was really hoping String Catalogs would work and save the day since Export Localizations also does not work for Swift packages that don't support macOS. 😔

I am using SwiftData for my model. Until Xcode 15 beta 4 I did not have issues. Since beta 5 I am receiving the following red warning multiple times:
'NSKeyedUnarchiveFromData' should not be used to for un-archiving and will be removed in a future release
This seems to be a CoreData warning. However, I am not using CoreData directly. I have no way to change the config of CoreData as used by SwiftData.
My model just uses UUID, Int, String, Double, some of them as optionals or Arrays. I only use one attribute (.unique).
I have designed a new icon for my app/Tahoe in Icon Composer (launched from within Xcode)but I simply cannot get it to show up. The documentation for Icon Composer spends a lot of time describing how to design the icons but goes distressingly vague/silent on how one might use it. It suggests that I should drag the file to Xcode and it will guide me as to where to put it.
The app continues to use the old (pre-Tahoe) icon.
I don't get any change of behaviour and I don't know what to name the file. I assume that there are no other settings that I have to change. I can't find anything on the web or in Apple's documentation: maybe I'm missing something obvious!
My app is a working NSDocument-based Cocoa project.
Any suggestions please.

So I have a MacOS application that was working just fine before Xcode 16. The Widgets are not working anymore.
The main application and the widgets share a file in a common App Group.
The widget app now get a permission error when accessing the file.
Also, the Widget Kit simulator keeps crashing.
I also try to start a new project in Xcode, add a target with a Widget extension with an App Intent and run it, and it also crashes.
Sometimes, it doesn't crash but just display the error: "Failed to load widget. The operation couldn't be completed. (WidgetKit_Simulator.WidgetDocument.Error error 2.).
Edited to attach WidgetKit error log

At the Platform State of the Union, Apple demoed clicking a ✨ button in the Xcode toolbar to use Apple Intelligence in Xcode.
I don't see that button in Xcode Version 26.0 beta (17A5241e). Am I missing it? It's supposed to be in the upper-left corner, right?
Do I need to turn it on or something? I'm on macOS 15.5 Sequoia, on a 16-inch, 2021 MacBook Pro
I downloaded the latest version of Xcode 26 (beta). I'm running Max OS 15.5. How can I use Claude 4 Opus? I can't wait to try this out. Thanks in advance!

I'm getting EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=2, address=0x7ff8a6e2fcce) when launching my app on the simulator with Address or Thread Sanitizer enabled. I'm running Xcode 16.3 (16E140) on macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 (24E263). The call stack looks like the following.
On the device, there is no crash, but this message is printed to the console:
malloc: nano zone abandoned due to inability to reserve vm space.
(Not sure if it's related.)
Does anybody know what is causing the crash?

Xcode Sanitizers and Runtime Issues
I have an AppleTV app which I released in 2016. I've updated it and released a new version every year without much hassle.
This year, with tvOS 17.2, the layered app icon isn't working right. This is a two-layer image made with PNGs.
When it's selected, it looks right and the layers move correctly:
But when it's not selected, the background layer disappears:
Screenshots are from the simulator but it also happens on the device. It's inconsistent; sometimes it's the front layer that disappears. Occasionally both layers work, but I can't tell why.
I've spent a day trying everything. Very frustrated.
The icon previews correctly in Xcode and in Parallax Viewer.
The image sizes are correct: 400 x 240 for Small, 800 x 480 for Small@2x, 1280 x 768 for Large.
The back layer is a non-transparent PNG.
I tried adding a Large@2x set. Didn't help.
Originally I had a three-layer image with no middle layer PNG. I deleted the empty middle layer, but that didn't help.
All the PNG files are from GnuIMP. Same color space, even.
I was using the filenames tvicon-back-s.png and tvicon-back-s@2x.png. I tried taking out the @ sign in case that was confusing Xcode. (It never has before, but I am flailing here.)
Anybody have any clues? If it's an Apple bug and there's nothing I can do, I'm going to just push the release button and hope it fixes itself someday.
I installed xcode 16 and both Predictive Code Completion Model and iOS 18.0 Simulator Failed Download.
I can live without the code completion, but I can not get any Simulator to install.
I clicked of the info button and it shows the following:

I am trying to upgrade my app to use Xcode 26 and I cannot get my tests to launch.
I am trying to launch tests to the simulator, and I always get this error after 300 second timeout:
"encountered an error (The test runner hung before establishing connection.)"
There are no other errors getting logged.
I can run to the same simulator just fine, and in Xcode 16 the tests launch with no issues.
The tests also run fine on an actual iPhone.
Thanks in advance.
I've recently installed 26.1 Beta 3 alongside stable 26.0.1
When building my app with 26.0.1 the final .ipa size is ~17mb, however after building my app with 26.1 Beta 3 the size has increased up to ~22mb
The main difference is Assets.car blowing from 1.1mb to 5.6mb (or 8.6mb if I include all icons settings). Upon examining I've found new liquid glass .icon file duplicating itself multiple times as png variants (any, dark, tinted, etc).
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Hello!
When launching/debugging on my iPad and iPhone I keep getting the following error:
“Previous preparation error: Failed to find a DDI … Run ‘devicectl list preferredDDI’ …”
I believe this was caused by a previously interrupted Xcode update around June due to low disk space, which may have left DeviceSupport/DDI/CoreDevice files incomplete. Even after finishing the update later, the error persists. I now use a new Mac with 4 TB of storage, but the issue still occurs.
Since then I have unfortunately been blocked from testing or presenting my app on devices. It seems that only a new, fully completed Xcode update might resolve the problem.
Tried so far:
– Cleared caches (CoreDevice/Devices)
– Reset trust on device and re-paired
– Checked devicectl list preferredDDI
I would really appreciate guidance, as at the moment I cannot present my app due to this blocking issue.
Thank you very much for your support!

Xcode
Hi everyone, (you can answer in french)
I’m french-rookie in xcode, and I have a problem:
I’m trying to choice my custom font to add it in my Main.storyboard button, but it not works.
I have my « Font provided by application » line in my Info.plist, with the name of my font in [0]
(See images below)
When I’m on storyboard button, I chose « custom » in font selector, then display font list but my custom font doesn’t appear.
I already tried to install the font in my mac, but still stucked, nothing change 😭
Could you help me please?
Thanks a lot
(I specify that I scrupulously followed the way of doing explained on the Apple official page:
Adding a Custom Font to Your App )
We had push notifications and associated domains capabilities to our app but something happened either with my certificates or Xcode and they disappeared and can't add any capabilities anymore.
https://imgur.com/peRXNO6
Our App ID, certificate and provisioning profile are all correct and contain the correct capabilities.
Hi!
In neither Xcode 16.2 beta 3 nor Xcode 16.2 I am able to get App Shortcuts Preview to recognise my Shortcuts. In either supported language I always get "No Matching Intent" as the result.
Flexible matching is enabled, minimum deployment target is iOS 18. The Shortcut phrases do work in the simulator and on device.
Is this a known issue or am I missing something?
After updating to Xcode 26 Beta 4, I can no longer upload my app to App Store Connect due to a WatchKit icon validation error.
The error states:
Invalid Icon. The watch application 'YourApp.app/Watch/YourWatchApp.app' contains an icon file 'Icon Image-AppIcon-watch-1024x1024 @1x.png' with an alpha channel. Icons should not have an alpha channel.
• This file name doesn’t exist in the asset catalog or project source.
• All icon assets used in the Watch App’s AppIcon set, including the required 1024x1024 icon, were checked with sips -g hasAlpha and confirmed to not contain an alpha channel.
• Project was cleaned, derived data cleared, and archive recreated multiple times.
• This issue only began after updating to Xcode 26 Beta 4. In the previous versions, everything was ok.
Is anyone else experiencing this after upgrading Xcode to Beta 4? Any idea/workaround on how to solve this would be appreciated.
Hi, run into this error today: Failed to verify code signature of /var/installd/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installd.staging/temp.QJh2l0/extracted/MyAwesome.app : 0xe8008015 (A valid provisioning profile for this executable was not found.)
Project is an AUv3 app + extension. It builds and install fine on MacOS.
It builds on iPad but can't install : that's when the error appears.
Regarding provisioning files, I use Automatic manage signing and I can see that the Xcode Managed Profile looks fine an includes my iPad.
The only thing I see that differ from other projects is that as an AUv3 project, I have both and App (host) and extension projects. Thus the bundle identifier for this extension project is not the same as it seems I have to use different identifiers.
So app bundle id is x.y while extension is x.y.z (same x.y base))
Last but not least the project and IPA can be built fine on XCode Cloud. (Although I can't download the artifacts but it seems it's the same problem for many of us today...)
macOS Version 15.4 (Build 24E248)
Xcode 16.2 (23507) (Build 16C5032a)
Thanks in advance for your help :)

Happy to have a new MacBook Pro M4 now - the new machine was setup from time machine backup of my old MacBook Pro M1.
Sadly Predictive Code Completion does not work on the new M4 (it was working great on the M1).
Xcode shows as downloaded component:
Predictive Code Completion Model [com.apple.fm.code.generate_small_v1.base: 500.1.81600.13.200772,0] [com.apple.fm.code.generate_safety_guardrail.base: 1.6.81619.13.200716,0] [com.apple.gm.safety_deny.input.code_intelligence.base: 32024010.20241007.171244.100.377,0] [com.apple.gm.safety_deny.output.code_intelligence.base: 32024010.20241007.171244.100.377,0] (Installed)
Things I already tried:
Removed and reinstalled Xcode 16 (also latest beta).
Disabled/enabled Xcode Editor Settings for predictive code completion
Many many reboots
Removed Xcode cache
Maybe the downloaded Model is somehow locked to the old machine?
How can I remove, redownload or reinstall it again?
Thank you very much.
Tobias
Apologies that this is probably a simple problem.
I've started from a sample code provided by Apple and changed it quite significantly. However, I'm not able to Archive the app.
The original visionOS sample code has the same issue, so hopefully someone will be able to spot the problem:
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionos/creating-stereoscopic-image-in-visionos
The problems shown in the log are:
Undefined symbol: _main
Linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)
The first error seems to say that there's no "main" but there is indeed a @main in the EntryPoint.swift file.
Any ideas? I have archived other apps (built from scratch) successfully, but clearly there's something different about this sample code.
Many thanks!
