At the last place I worked it took roughly 5 minutes to do an application build. Which in turn made doing any sort of TDD or ever just regular Unit Tests extremely painful to do as the cycle time was simply too long.
But that got me thinking.
In recent versions of Xcode, Apple added Previews for SwiftUI Views that basically showed code changes to the View in real time. And Previews were made possible by extremely targeted compilation of the view in question.
So... what if instead of a Preview pane in the Xcode IDE there was a Test pane the could be displayed such that Tests for a piece of code could be created and run almost immediately?
Perhaps by adding a #Testing section to your code
#Testing(MyService.self) // Define the entity to be tested.
If you could drop the turnaround time AND provide a test playground for service level code that could speed development of such code greatly... and encourage interactive test development at the same time.
What do you think?
Running macOS 15.4.1, Simulator 16.0 (1042.1), various iOS devices (iPhone 16, iPad 13" M4)
I log into iCloud and enable iCloud Drive. Running the Files app, I noticed that I can click on "flat" documents (PDF, JPEG, etc) and they work. However, when I click on "package" documents (e.g. represented by a directory behind the scenes), I get a normal download progress, but then an alert "The operation could not be completed. No such file or directory".
This seems to happen with all package documents, e.g. Keynote documents or Reality Composer objcap documents. It does not happen on actual devices logged into the same account.
I've tried completely deleting and rebuilding the simulator instances in question, with no success.
Hi,
in XCode and iOS app. Tried to add Icon, got image size errors. reuploaded with correct sizes and started getting this error.
Tried all the solutions from forums, didn't work.
Restarted Mac
Deleted Assets.xcassets and recreated with AppIcon and AccemntColor
Copied "Assets.xcassets" from new dummy Project to main one.
I don't have info.plist file
Could you please help.
Thanks,
Bhanu

Hi,
I'm working in unity and I've implemented Firebase Phone Number Authentication in it. Everything works fine when I directly install build from xCode. App Attest screen shows up, user receives OTP on their phone and login works. But when I download the same build from TestFlight, it gets stuck after the user sends OTP request.
I've added Push Notifications and App Attest in capabilities. I've also additionally added Remote Notifications.
In device log I see an error about mobile provisioning file but I've added that to my account also. Is this expected behavior that phone number authentication does not work on TestFlight? If yes, how can I get this approved from apple since they need to test it before approving it.
Thanks!
Hi,
This maybe somewhat confusing, but please bear with me.
I currently have an app in the App Store that supports iOS and tvOS. But the tvOS version was a separate app during the development process. I'd like to combine the iOS and tvOS app into one project so its easier to handle and keep track of internally.
Can I upload the new Apple TV version to the same place where the current one is, or would I have to delete the current Apple TV version before uploading the newly combined version?
I hope I made that clear enough :-)
Thank you,
Dan Uff
When I thought Xcode could not get any worse, here's the most absurd thing I have ever seen developing software in almost 20 years of work.
When building a project, which I haven't touched lately, and last time it was building just fine, it raised errors on a class that doesn't even belong in any way to such project, it only exists in another one. To clarify, we're talking of a project written in C++ which runs only on mac, which is failing due to linker errors, where the linker can not find symbols of a class living in a different project and that is not referenced in any way inside this project. I mean, really? how does Apple manage to make Xcode more and more unstable by the minute? Starting from Xcode 15.1 I was already experiencing much longer building times, due to the fact that it doesn't manage the cache properly and is rebuilding lots of stuff every time..

I updated the icons in Xcode to customize the appearance of my app icons to be light, dark, or tinted. The app is allowed to be downloaded and run on iPadOS. The app icon behaves as expected on iOS however the app icon does not change on the iPad. Am I missing a step for the iPad? To be clear the app does not target iPadOS rather it is just running the iOS version.
Thanks

I'm integrating Apple Pay with PayFort in a Swift iOS application, and I’m currently working on preparing a valid purchase request using Apple Pay, as described in PayFort’s documentation:
The documentation outlines the following required parameters:
apple_data
apple_signature
apple_header
apple_transactionId
apple_ephemeralPublicKey
apple_publicKeyHash
apple_paymentMethod
apple_displayName
apple_network
apple_type
Optional: apple_applicationData
I understand these should be derived from the PKPayment object after Apple Pay authorization, but I’m having trouble mapping everything correctly. Here’s what I’m seeing in code:
payment.token
// Returns something like: <PKPaymentToken: 0x28080ae80; transactionIdentifier: "..."; paymentData: 3780 bytes>
payment.token.paymentData
// Contains 3780 bytes of encrypted data
payment.token.paymentData.base64EncodedString()
// Returns a long base64 string, which at first glance seems like it could be used for apple_data,
// but PayFort doesn't accept it as-is — so this value appears to be incomplete or incorrectly formatted
I can successfully retrieve the following values from payment.token.paymentMethod:
apple_displayName
apple_network
apple_type
However, I’m still unsure how to extract or build the following in the format accepted by PayFort:
apple_data
apple_signature
apple_header
apple_transactionId
apple_ephemeralPublicKey
apple_publicKeyHash
apple_paymentMethod
These may be contained within the paymentData JSON, but I’m not sure how to decode it or if Apple allows decrypting it in a way that matches PayFort’s expected format.
How can I correctly extract or build apple_data, apple_signature, and apple_header from the Apple Pay token?
Also, how should I handle the decryption or decoding (if necessary) of paymentData to retrieve values like apple_transactionId, apple_ephemeralPublicKey, and apple_publicKeyHash?
If anyone has successfully set this up or has example code that bridges Apple Pay and PayFort’s expected request format, it would be super helpful!
Thanks in advance 🙏
When I execute:
geoCoder.reverseGeocodeLocation(location, completionHandler:{[weak self](placemarks, error) in
print("reverse geocoding location after altitude: ",location.altitude)
print("placemark location first", placemarks?.first?.location?.altitude ?? -1)
The input CLLocation has correct altitude 25, instead the location in the output placemarks have altitude 0, when of course they should have the same location. Moreover it is impossible to retrofit any data in the returned placemarks as they are portrayed as a read only property.

I imported few files in my Xcode project from other projects using drag and drop. Even though the files are copied in the new project and there are no softlinks pointing to the location of other project, the issue is whenever I do a git commit and push, Xcode keeps showing all the projects to commit to rather than just the current project. There seem to be no setting to permanently remove git dependency of other projects. Is there anyway to remove references to other projects?
My app has a Watch app companion, and a Widget.
are this settings correct to distribute these to TestFlight and Apple Store ?

Hello Everyone,

Thanks a lot and much appreciated
I'm experiencing an issue with a custom font not loading properly in Xcode 16.3. The font files are included in the bundle, listed in Info.plist, and verified for correct names using UIFont.familyNames, but they still don't appear at runtime. Has anyone else run into this with Xcode 16.3? Could this be related to recent changes in asset packaging or font catalogs?
I have created two different apps using ADEP, and they were working on iPad with iOS 14.6 and 14.7.1. The environments are as follows:
Environment:
1.Mac mini (Mac OS X 10.7.5)
Xcode 8.3.2
2.iMac (OS X El Capitan 10.11.6)
Xcode 7.3
The certificates were exported from the environment in 1 and imported into 2.
When I tried to switch from ADEP to AdHoc for app creation, I encountered an error. Specifically, the app worked fine on an iPad running iOS 12.5.7 in environment 1, but on devices with iOS 14.6, 14.7.1, and 17.7, the installation was successful, but when I tried to open the app, the following error message appeared:
“XXXXX” needs to be updated
To run this app on this version of iOS, the developer needs to update the app.
Additionally, in environment 2, I’m unable to archive the app.
Is it possible to create a working app by simply switching from ADEP to AdHoc without making any other changes to the environment?

Hi,
I am able to build my iOS app successfully, developed in objective-C with iOS 17.5 SDK and Xcode 15.
Due to requirement of Appstore we are trying to build with iOS 18 SDK and Xcode 16.
When building getting error in LAEnvironmentState.h file:
a) "Property requires field to be named"
b) "Expected member name or ';' after declaration specifiers"
Same app when opening with Xcode 15 gets build without any issue.
Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.
I have a M2 macbook pro Which has storage problem. I work with react native and xcode. So I was wondering If I can keep react native projects in external hard drive that could run in xcode and also work with git. ??
