When to notarize artifacts developed in different stages?
Dear Apple Support, for better understanding to use the Notary Service, I would like to ask when and what have to be notarized. I am absolutely aware of using the Notary Service and which packages can be submitted and how to get the status. Scenario: We have one library which is developed by a specific team and other teams develop and deliver to customer MacOS apps which packages this library for the shipment. So, the library will be produced internally and will be shipped in different products. The library will be code signed before we make available internally. When should we notarize (and staple) this library? Directly after the code is signed or when it will be packaged in each product when it will be delivered to customer? Best regards, Stefan

App Fails to Launch on Another Mac with Error -10810 After Codesign and Notarization
I exported an app from an Xcode project using the "Archive" feature. After signing and notarizing it, the app runs normally on my local machine. However, after packaging it with create-dmg or ditto and distributing it to another Mac, I get an error saying the application cannot run. When I execute the command open xxx.app in Terminal, it shows _LSOpenURLsWithCompletionHandler() failed for the application /Applications/Maxi PC Suite.app with error -10810. Does anyone know why this is happening? codesign and notarization info: codesign -vvv Maxi\ PC\ Suite.app ...... Maxi PC Suite.app: valid on disk Maxi PC Suite.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement syspolicy_check distribution Maxi\ PC\ Suite.app App passed all pre-distribution checks and is ready for distribution.

All Notarization Requests Stuck "In Progress" for Over 48 Hours
Hello, We are currently facing an issue with the Apple Notary Service that is completely blocking our production pipeline. For the past three days, every single submission has been stuck in the "In Progress" state indefinitely. Some submissions have been pending for over 48 hours, and none of them ever proceed to analysis. When checking the status via xcrun notarytool history, all entries show "In Progress". Attempting to retrieve logs with xcrun notarytool log always returns: Submission log is not yet available. This strongly suggests that the processing hasn't even started. This issue occurs consistently from my local machine (MacBook Air M3) and Our GitHub Actions CI workflow. Both environments are properly configured with Electron + Electron-Builder, and the app is correctly signed and uploaded each time. We have verified multiple times all credentials and code signing settings, no exceptions so far or problems in the pipeline. Here are a few stuck submission IDs: This is not a normal delay, it looks like a backend issue affecting our account or this specific App ID. Please escalate this case as soon as possible. We appreciate your urgent attention. Best

Code signing fails with “unable to build chain to self-signed root for signer "(null)"” and errSecInternalComponent for Developer ID Application on macOS
Hello Apple Developer Support Community, I am encountering a persistent issue while trying to code sign my macOS application (PromptVault.app) using a valid Developer ID Application certificate. The signing process fails with the following warning and error for every native .so file inside the app bundle: `Warning: unable to build chain to self-signed root for signer "(null)" <file-path>: errSecInternalComponent` What I have tried so far: Verified that my Developer ID Application certificate and the associated private key exist correctly in the login keychain. Confirmed that the intermediate certificate "Apple Worldwide Developer Relations - G6" is installed and valid in the System keychain. Added Terminal to Full Disk Access in Security & Privacy to ensure signing tools have required permissions. Executed security set-key-partition-list to explicitly allow code signing tools to access the private key. Reinstalled both developer and Apple intermediate certificates. Used codesign to individually sign .so files and then sign the entire bundle. Ensured macOS and Xcode Command Line Tools are up to date. Created a clean Python virtual environment and rebuilt all dependencies. Tested code signing in multiple ways and with verbose logging. Current status: Despite all these efforts, the same warning and error persist during the signing process of every .so file. This prevents successful code signing and notarization, blocking distribution. Request for assistance: Could anyone confirm if my certificate and keychain setup sounds correct? Are there known issues or extra steps necessary to properly build the trust chain for Developer ID certificates on macOS 15.6.1 (Sequoia)? Any suggestions for resolving the errSecInternalComponent during signing native libraries? Guidance on ensuring the entire certificates chain is trusted and usable by codesign tools? I can provide debug logs, screenshots of my keychain and security settings, or any other diagnostic information if needed. Thanks in advance for your help!

When starting a process on macOS Sequoia, it gets terminated by the kernel.
I have an executable file named infogodesk, located in the directory /usr/local/SmpAgent/rustdesk/infogodesk. When I execute it using the terminal with ./infogodesk, the process gets terminated by the kernel. However, if I move the executable to another directory, it works fine. This issue is very frustrating, and I hope to get some help. Screen Time API, DeviceActivity, Family Controls, Entitlements, Provisioning Profile
Hello everyone, I'm hoping to find a solution for a critical issue that is blocking my app's submission to the App Store. My app uses the Screen Time API and therefore has a main app and a DeviceActivityMonitor extension. The main app has been successfully granted the Family Controls (Distribution) entitlement. However, the DeviceActivityMonitor extension is stuck with only the Family Controls (Development) entitlement. This mismatch causes my build to fail during the archive/distribution process with the error: "Provisioning profile failed qualification. Profile doesn't support Family Controls (Development)." This is a hard blocker, as the extension is a mandatory part of the API. I have already filled out the entitlement request form and also contacted Developer Support (Case #102666581576), who confirmed they could not assist and directed me here. My question is: What is the correct procedure to escalate or resolve the issue of a required extension not receiving the distribution-level Family Controls entitlement after the main app has already been approved? Has anyone else encountered this specific "Development" vs. "Distribution" mismatch and found a definitive way to resolve it? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The notarized custom PAM module cannot function properly after unlock from screensaver
We are developing a custom login service including custom PAM module. While it initially works correctly after installation on macOS, it becomes blocked by the system during privilege escalation (coreauthd) after unlocking the screensaver. The custom PAM module has been signed with a Developer ID certificate and submitted for notarization using notarytool. And passed staple check. spctl -at open --context context:primary-signature -v pam_custom.so: accepted source=Notarized Developer ID Here are the detail steps: Install the custom PAM file under /usr/local/lib/pam/. Ensure SIP (System Integrity Protection) is enabled. Log in to the Mac using the custom login service developed with the custom PAM module. Successfully log in. Open System Settings > Touch ID & Password. Click Add Fingerprint to trigger local authentication. This local authentication can be passed using Touch ID without invoking the custom PAM. Cancel adding fingerprints. Allow the Mac to idle until the screensaver is triggered. Unlock the screen using the custom PAM. Go to System Settings > Touch ID & Password and click Add Fingerprint again. This time, local authentication triggers the custom PAM, but it always fails. The system log shows that the custom PAM is not found. Cannot launch an app sucessfully stapled and validated
Hey, when I try to launch my app it prompts me with a "Apple could not verify" popup. The thing is the app has been signed and stapled. xcrun stapler validate .app for my app returns "The validate action worked!" If I also run syspolicy_check distribution .app it returns: "App passed all pre-distribution checks and is ready for distribution" Any idea?

Provisioning Profile Missing In-App Purchase Entitlement (Despite Capability Enabled)
I'm facing a persistent issue with provisioning profiles not including the com.apple.developer.in-app-purchase entitlement, even though the In-App Purchase capability is clearly enabled in the Developer Portal for my app. What I’ve already done: Confirmed that the In-App Purchase capability is enabled in the App ID configuration Deleted all provisioning profiles locally (~/Library/MobileDevice/Provisioning Profiles) Regenerated both Development and App Store provisioning profiles from scratch Tried Xcode's automatic signing (after properly registering the device) Verified the provisioning profiles via Terminal (security cms -D -i ...) — the IAP entitlement is missing every time Recreated valid distribution and development certificates Cleaned the Xcode project and settings The result: Every attempt to build or archive the app in Xcode returns: Missing entitlement: com.apple.developer.in-app-purchase I've also opened a support case with Apple, but so far I’ve only been redirected to general documentation. Has anyone encountered this recently? Is there a known delay or sync issue on Apple’s side when enabling capabilities? Can the provisioning profile or entitlement data be manually refreshed by Apple? Is there any workaround that worked for you in this situation?

Account Shows to "Enroll" again after I submitted Mac app for Notarization
I submitted a mac app for Notarization. For the first few tries the Notarization failed with an error "Team is not yet configured for Notarization" but few days after my account started to show "ENROLL" option again even though my membership was set to expire on 2026. I am doubting my account has been suspended. I have not received any emails from apple regarding the suspension. I have contacted support but no help yet ! This was the second year, i was paying for the membership. Could you please help me to - Help me get the account unsuspended (if it is, as there is no notification or information regarding this) If the account is suspended due to my app being submitted for Notarization then help me identify the reason so that i can fix them. Mac App is Time Tracking application that runs in background and capture periodic screenshot backlsh.com (NOTE - I am doing this after taking user consent)

Issues with certificates, profiles etc. especially for distribution and developer ID distribution
I keep having issues with my account. I have certificates that will not revoke. I create new certificates, then I create new profiles for development, distribution and for developer ID application distribution outside of the app store as well. With my app in Xcode, I can only get the Developer profile to work to allow builds. My distribution profile builds and then fails, with an error 5. The Developer ID Application profile will not even accept the profile in XCode, sighting that there is no code signing, yet I have checked things over and over again. Ontop of this, I had developers in the past in my team and they added a whole lot of certificates for Developer ID that I just cannot use now. I also cannot revoke them. I have no active apps on the app store now, so I was wondering if Apple or someone can assist me in removing ALL the certificates, all the profiles and get a clean slate, so that I can setup everything from scratch again, because I have lost countless of hours getting nowhere and I cannot get Apple support to assist? Anyone been through this before?

VoIP Entitlement
Good afternoon, Our team is currently developing a mobile application that includes video call functionality, and we are seeking the optimal approach to enable incoming calls on iOS devices. Ideally, we would like calls to be delivered even when the app is completely closed or after the device is restarted. As I understand it, this may require obtaining VoIP permissions; otherwise, calls may only work when the app is open or running in the background. I would appreciate it if you could confirm my understanding and advise me on the steps or requirements for obtaining the appropriate permissions. Currently, when I try to launch the app in XCode, I see an error (screenshot).

What happens when the Notification Service Extension provisioning profile expires?
I am managing provisioning profiles manually, including the one for my Notification Service Extension. I am wondering what happens if the provisioning profile for the Notification Service Extension expires. I have two types of apps: An App Store-distributed app An Enterprise-distributed app Can someone clarify how the expiration of the Notification Service Extension's provisioning profile affects both cases? Will the extension stop functioning, or will it continue to work normally?

Third party SDKs signing requirement and expiration
Hi, I have some doubts about certificates expiration given this "new" requirement around signing for some common third party SDKs: https://developer.apple.com/support/third-party-SDK-requirements/ Use case: I build an SDK that will be distributed as an XCFramework and will be used in AppStore apps from different people. My SDK internally uses some other third party libraries that are integrated as binaries Let's assume some of those third party libraries are from the list above and therefore seem to be required to be signed. I distribute my SDK with all in order (third party SDKs from that list with valid signatures) People using my SDK over the time provide an update to their apps on the AppStore but by then some of the third party libraries of my SDK has an expired certificate. What would happen? People using my SDK won't have any issues as far as my SDK has a valid signature (despite third party libraries from the list have expired signatures) People using my SDK will get a warning about it but still will be able to submit to the AppStore. In that case, would AppStore Review process decline the update? People using my SDK will get an error, not being able to submit to the AppStore and will require me an update version of the SDK with those third party libraries re-signed. My understanding is that all would work as far as my SDK has a valid signature (after all is the one taking responsibility of the code inside), independently of what happens with the signature of those libraries themselves, am I correct?.

Unable to Sign macOS App – Missing Valid Developer ID Application and Installer Certificates – Request for Account Reset?
Hello, I have created multiple Developer ID Application and Developer ID Installer certificates across different Apple OS versions without keeping the Certificate Signing Requests (CSR). As I’m not very experienced with Apple’s system, I made this mistake and now I am unable to create new certificates because I have reached the maximum number of certificates allowed. I develop software based on Electron and have been building and signing my applications with electron-builder, integrating the app signing needed to submit the app to the Apple Store via Transporter. Here is the relevant portion of my package.json build config: "mac": { "appId": "com.nome_app.ext", "type": "distribution", "target": [ "mas" ], "artifactName": "name_app.${ext}", "category": "public.app-category.utilities", "provisioningProfile": "build/prov_prof_mac_name_app.provisionprofile" }, "mas": { "appId": "com.name_app.ravia", "hardenedRuntime": false, "type": "distribution", "gatekeeperAssess": true, "artifactName": "name_app.${ext}", "category": "public.app-category.utilities", "entitlements": "build/entitlements.mas.plist", "extendInfo": { "NSMicrophoneUsageDescription": "This app requires microphone access.", "NSCameraUsageDescription": "This app requires webcam access." }, "entitlementsInherit": "build/entitlements.mas.inherit.plist" } } Currently, I have recreated the Mac Developer Application and Mac Developer Installer certificates, but without valid Developer ID Installer and Developer ID Application certificates, I always get this error during build: `skipped macOS application code signing reason=cannot find valid "Developer ID Application" identity or custom non-Apple code signing certificate, it could cause some undefined behaviour, e.g. macOS localized description not visible, see https://electron.build/code-signing allIdentities= 718241A413826C6A97E2062EAEC155BEF5330CCA "iPhone Distribution: RAVIA SOFTWARE DI VILLANOVA DOMENICO ANTONIO (T9UD6J5HXZ)" (CSSMERR_TP_NOT_TRUSTED) 60B360CCE27FE915799FAE7C8E6A16962F2DE9B0 "3rd Party Mac Developer Installer: RAVIA SOFTWARE DI VILLANOVA DOMENICO ANTONIO (T9UD6J5HXZ)" (CSSMERR_TP_NOT_TRUSTED) 4518A8CE3BAC4F27B09D654DA14F52FBE15A0A85 "3rd Party Mac Developer Application: RAVIA SOFTWARE DI VILLANOVA DOMENICO ANTONIO (T9UD6J5HXZ)" (CSSMERR_TP_NOT_TRUSTED) ... Is there a possibility to reset my Apple Developer account’s Developer ID Application and Developer ID Installer certificates, so I can start fresh and generate new valid certificates? Could you please advise on how to proceed or if there is any way to clear the current certificate limit?** Thank you very much for your help.
