Transaction.environment is undefined/nil in TestFlight
I'm using Transaction.environment to determine server behavior. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/apptransaction/environment https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/appstore/environment I gather this information on the app using StoreKit and then send it to the server: originalTransactionId = transaction.originalID originalTransactionEnvironment = transaction.environment When testing within Xcode, on a simulator, the value sent to the server for originalTransactionEnvironment is Xcode - as expected. When testing on a device using a TestFlight build, the value sent to the server for originalTransactionEnvironment is undefined/nil. I expected it to be Sandbox - and later in production it should be Production. Most importantly, the value sent to the server for originalTransactionId in the TestFlight version is not undefined/nil - it is the value I expected it would be. The transaction was originally for a subscription purchase, if that makes a difference. So the transaction is available, and information like originalID is also available. Why is transaction.environment not available? What is the behavior in production?

How to open Enhanced Apple Maps page from iOS app
I'm trying to create a link from a restaurant annotation on a map in my app (created using MapKit) that will open the Apple Maps app on an iphone. I've been using the Restaurant name, telephone number, and coordinates and cannot get applemaps to open the enhanced page (which contains photographs and customer reviews and is much more descriptive than the page that is opening, which only shows the location on a map with the phone number and coordinates. It is not that descriptive, and I'm trying to create a request that will make it very easy to jump back and forth between my app and the enhanced page on apple maps. here's what I'm using in my request: " private func openInAppleMaps() { let coordinate = CLLocationCoordinate2D(latitude: restaurant.latitude, longitude: restaurant.longitude) let placemark = MKPlacemark(coordinate: coordinate) let mapItem = MKMapItem(placemark: placemark) mapItem.name = restaurant.name if let phone = restaurant.telephone1 { mapItem.phoneNumber = phone } mapItem.openInMaps(launchOptions: [MKLaunchOptionsShowsTrafficKey: true]) } }" the entire file is attached. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. RestaurantCallOutBox.swift

What are possible failures when using CLLocationUpdate.Updates AsyncSequence
Hello, I'm currently migrating my app location service to use the new CLLocationUpdate.Updates. I'm trying to understand what can fail in this AsyncSequence. Based on the previous CLError, I thought authorisation was one of them for example but it turns out that this is handled by the CLLocationUpdate where we can check different properties. So, is there a list of errors available somewhere? Thanks Axel, @alpennec

FinanceKit requestAuthorization denied
Hello all 👋 I'm getting unexpected behavior when testing FinanceKit for my app and was hoping to get assistance. Pre-reqs (defined at https://developer.apple.com/documentation/financekit): I've been given the FinanceKit entitlement I have the com.apple.developer.financekit entitlement set to financial-data I also have NSFinancialDataDescription set in Info.plist. I am targeting iOS 17.4 (a physical device) When I call FinanceStore.shared.requestAuthorization(), I immediately get a denied status without any alert dialogs. No data about my app is listed in Settings > Privacy & Security > Wallet Any idea what else is needed here? Thanks so much for the help! Code import SwiftUI import FinanceKit @main struct myApp: App { var body: some Scene { WindowGroup { ContentView() } } } struct ContentView: View { @State private var status: AuthorizationStatus? @State private var dataAvail: Bool? var body: some View { VStack { Text("Data available \(String(describing: dataAvail))") Text("Auth status \(String(describing: status))") Button("Get Status") { Task{ dataAvail = FinanceStore.isDataAvailable(.financialData) status = try await FinanceStore.shared.authorizationStatus() } }.buttonStyle(.borderedProminent) Button("Request Auth") { Task{ do{ status = try await FinanceStore.shared.requestAuthorization() }catch{ print(error) } } }.buttonStyle(.borderedProminent) } .padding() } } #Preview { ContentView() } app.entitlements: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>com.apple.developer.financekit</key> <array> <string>financial-data</string> </array> </dict> </plist> Info.plist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>NSFinancialDataDescription</key> <string>Budget across all your accounts</string> </dict> </plist> VIdeo demo:

Workout mode drains battery heavily
I am building a watchOS app with iOS companion app. The watch app needs to track the heart rate during the night or while user is sleeping. And the desired frequency of measurement is 0.2Hz (every 5 seconds) For this I am using the HKWorkout mode with mindAndBody session. While it works fine, One of the main issue is: after about 6-7 hours of usage, the battery on the watch drains between 40% (Series 9) and 100% (series 7, I think) My questions: Are there any other option to track user's heart rate without workout, while the app could be in background? Another side effect of this workout mode is, Even if we choose not to save the workout in HealthKit, the Activity rings gets populated by this mindAndBody session, which makes it when the user is waking up, the bar is already full, This is not desired. Is there any option to specify for ActivityRing skips this? Highly appreciate any help in advance. Cheers - Prakash

Deprecated: HKCategoryValueMenstrualFlow
We currently use the HKCategoryValueMenstrualFlow enum to determine the type of menstrual flow: light, medium, etc. a user is having. We also use this enum in determining if it's an actual period day. The Problem I see HKCategoryValueMenstrualFlow was recently deprecated but has not been replaced by another data type. Are there plans to replace/update it with another data type? When or at what point in the future will this deprecation cause a problem in my code?

The UWB performance of iOS18 is different from that of iOS17
Hello, dear engineer: The UWB Accessory used by my APP has inconsistent code callbacks on iOS17 and iOS18. I have connected multiple UWB Accessory by Accessory Single Configuration Data (UUID: 95e8d9d5-d8ef-4721-9a4e-807375f53328) in the APP. In iOS17.5.1, the unconnected Accessory calls the func session in the NiSessionDelegate (_ session: NISession, didRemove nearbyObjects: [NINearbyObject], "reason: NINearbyObject RemovalReason)," reason is the timeout. iOS18.0.1 does not call didRemove and fails to connect automatically after 10 minutes on the disconnected Accessory. iOS18.2 does not call didRemove. After 10 minutes, when the Accessory is not connected, it automatically connects and starts ranging. Therefore, I would like to ask what is updated in iOS18 UWB? Is there a document for reference, or can you provide the callback performance of each iOS version for UWB? The code is as follows: niConfiguration = try NINearbyAccessoryConfiguration(data: Data(AccessoryUwbConfigData)) uwbSession.run(niConfiguration)

Terminal Commands Wiped Off Local Folders and Files
Hi, I'm not too good with terminal stuff, but when I looked at activity monitor, my corespotlightd was using too much of my cpu. I decided to look up solutions on google and stumbled upon this: https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/675482. I tried some of the commands, and I closed the terminal while sudo was still running because I was getting impatient. Somehow, before I even realized it, I was logged out of my Apple ID and my desktop and downloads files were completely gone. For some reason, my applications are still the same, which makes me wonder if some of the files or folders I had before can still be recoverable. I checked time machine, and I wasn't able to recover anything. How cooked am I? I've lost all of my university work and some other pictures and stuff that I thought would never be damaged if I had it locally. Would appreciate any type of help. Thanks.

Embedding automation command line tool into an AppStore app
I am developing a macOS word-processing app that should be distributed via the Apple App Store. Some of the app's functions like generating HTML and PDF exports should be automatable via Shortcuts and via shell scripts. To support the latter, I plan to include a command line tool inside the app that can be called from the Terminal or a shell script. The tool should be able to instruct the main app to then perform the desired commands. A well-known AppStore app that uses this design is BBEdit which also contains multiple command line tools that offer functionality from the main app to users of the Terminal. My technical questions now are: Should the command line tool executable be sandboxed and if yes, how? Even after many trials, I have not found a way to make a working sandboxed command line tool. If a sandboxed tool is started from the Terminal, it is immediately terminated with an exception in _libsecinit_appsandbox.cold.12. I am aware of the Apple developer documentation article Embedding A Helper Tool In A Sandboxed App, but it addresses a different architecture in which the helper tool is started from the main app and therefore is able to inherit its sandbox. BBEdit is only sandboxing the main app, but not its embedded command line tools and is still allowed in the App Store. Is this the way to go for me as well or does BBEdit get some special treatment in the App Store? How can the command line tool pass the permission to access files to the main app? As my main app is sandboxed, it needs explicit permission from the user to be able to access files. Users of a command line tool give this permission by providing file paths as arguments. How can I pass these permissions along to the main app? BBEdit is able to do this even when the user has not given it full-disk access. I know that it is using Apple Events for the communication between the command line tool and the main app, but I am not sure how this allows to pass permissions. Can anyone shed light on how to implement a solution here? Thanks!

Transparent Proxy Provider, UDP, mbufs, and inevitable panics
First, for the  employees reading, I filed FB14844573 over the weekend, because this is a reproducible panic or hang. whee I ran our stress tests for an entire long weekend, and my machine panicked, due to mbufs. Normally, I tell my coworkers that we can't really do anything to cause a panic -- but we're doing network things, so this is an exception. I started periodically testing the mbufs while the tests were running -- netstat -m | grep 'mbufs in use' -- and noticed that in fact they were going up, and never decreasing. Even if I killed our code and uninstalled the extensions. (They're increasing at about ~4mbufs/sec.) Today I confirmed that this only happens if we include UDP packets: let udpRule = NENetworkRule(destinationNetwork: host, prefix: 0, protocol: .UDP) let tcpRule = NENetworkRule(destinationNetwork: host, prefix: 0, protocol: .TCP) ... settings.includedNetworkRules = [udpRule, tcpRule] If I comment out that udpRule, part, mbufs don't leak. Our handleNewUDPFlow(:, initialRemoteEndpoint:) method checks to see if the application is a friendly one, and if so it returns false. If it isn't friendly, we want to block QUIC packets: if let host = endpoint as? NWHostEndpoint { if host.port == "80" || host.port == "443" { // We need to open it and then close it flow.open(withLocalEndpoint: nil) { error in Self.workQueue.asyncAfter(deadline: .now() + 0.01) { let err = error ?? POSIXError(POSIXErrorCode.ECONNABORTED) flow.closeReadWithError(err) flow.closeWriteWithError(err) } } return true } } return false Has anyone else run into this? I can't see that it's my problem at that point, since the only thing we do with UDP flows is to either say "we don't want it, you handle it" or "ok sure, we'll take it but then let's close it immediately".

Getting ASAuthorizationError 1004 (notInteractive) when testing web credential sharing with Apple sample app
Using both the Apple sample app for passkeys (link below) and another barebones sample app from github (link below), we are getting this same error when trying to retrieve a user's passkey that has been created from our website associated with the sample app: ASAuthorizationController credential request failed with error: Error Domain=com.apple.AuthenticationServices.AuthorizationError Code=1004 "(null)" Error: ["NSLocalizedFailureReason": Unable to verify webcredentials association of TEAMID.com.company.product with domain app.company.com. Please try again in a few seconds.] Note I have replaced TEAMID, the bundle id and the website id here, but the values match our site association file, which has this content: { "webcredentials": { "apps": [ "TEAMID.com.company.product" ] } } and is hosted at: https://app.company.com/.well-known/apple-app-site-association (returned with Content-Type: application/json header) The enum values for ASAuthorizationError.Code I believe are: canceled: 1000 failed: 1001 invalidResponse: 1002 notHandled: 1003 notInteractive: 1004 unknown: 1005 Thus we are getting notInteractive, which according to another forum post here, we should not be seeing. With both sample apps, I've made sure the request to perform authentication is triggered from a button press by the user. Can someone please help us figure out why we are getting this error? Xcode version: 16.2 MacOS version: 15.2 iOS version: 18.2 iPhone model: iPhone SE (MHGT3X/A) Link for Apple sample app: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/authenticationservices/connecting_to_a_service_with_passkeys Link for Github sample app: https://github.com/hansemannn/iOS16-Passkeys-Sample

Is original_transaction_id and transaction_id globally unique?
Hello, Apple App Store Server API Team! I have one questions about the identifiers provided by Apple App Store Server API. Could you please answer? We are running an iOS App. In our app, the transactionId we get from Apple App Store Server API is called T1. (Example) Q1. Is it correct that other iOS apps cannot get T1 for transactionId from Apple App Store Server API? (I'm wondering if the transactionId is globally unique across apps.) Thank you!

How to identify a user who performed action which is reported by Endpoint Security
Hello, My application monitors ES_EVENT_TYPE_NOTIFY_CLOSE. If a file is dragged to another location in Finder, the Endpoint Security reports the event ES_EVENT_TYPE_NOTIFY_CLOSE was performed by '/usr/libexec/xpcproxy'. So, xpcproxy is the process that performed ES_EVENT_TYPE_NOTIFY_CLOSE. Looks like the dragged file is copied by some XPC service. I have found the audit user id is equal to user who dragged a file. Can audit user id be used to identify a user who triggers copy file action in this case? If no, are there any way to define such info? Thank you in advance!

CloudKit Dashboard error "Failed to execute query"
Something has caused my CloudKit queries to fail. On the dashboard I get an error message "Failed to execute query" when I try to "SORT BY" a field. The field is listed under Indexes as "sortable". For a different field, when I enter the field under "FILTER BY", and before I tap "Query", I get "No results". That field is listed under the Indexes as "queryable". It used to work fine. I have described this further, with screenshots at FB16114560

Sleep Analysis inBed sample not recorded on Apple Watch in iOS 18
In this link, Apple states we can know when a user is in bed vs sleeping and compare their quality of sleep by it. Only, in iOS 18, Apple no longer reports inBed time samples for the Apple Watch. I get why they stopped doing this for the phone, but why the watch? Bug? My app was using the inBed times for this very purpose and now only works for Garmin and Oura who still report inBed times. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/healthkit/hkcategoryvaluesleepanalysis
