App Store Review always got 4.3 for my apps
I created an app and submitted to app store for review and got a rejection with "4.3(a) - Design - Spam". This one was created for brand new, and I didn't find any similar apps in App store. I searched in this forum but am not sure if it is because I used flutter to build my app? How could I get a bit more specific detail why it got rejected? Guideline 4.3(a) - Design - Spam We noticed your app shares a similar binary, metadata, and/or concept as apps submitted to the App Store by other developers, with only minor differences. Submitting similar or repackaged apps is a form of spam that creates clutter and makes it difficult for users to discover new apps. Next Steps Since we do not accept spam apps on the App Store, we encourage you to review your app concept and submit a unique app with distinct content and functionality.

Background Modes for Audio Playback
Summary: I'm developing an iOS audio app in Flutter that requires background audio playback for long-form content. Despite having a paid Apple Developer Program account, the "Background Modes" capability does not appear as an option when creating or editing App IDs in the Developer Portal, preventing me from enabling the required com.apple.developer.background-modes entitlement. Technical Details: In the app that I am developing, users expect uninterrupted playback when app is backgrounded or device is locked similar to Audible, Spotify, or other audio apps that continue playing in background The Problem: When building for device testing or App Store submission, Xcode shows: Provisioning profile "iOS Team Provisioning Profile: com.xxxxx-vxxx" doesn't include the com.apple.developer.background-modes entitlement. However, the "Background Modes" capability is completely missing from the Developer Portal when creating or editing any App ID. I cannot enable it because the option simply doesn't exist in the capabilities list. What I've Tried: Multiple browsers/devices: Safari, Chrome, Firefox, incognito mode, different computers Account verification: Confirmed paid Individual Developer Program membership is active New App IDs: Created multiple new App IDs - capability never appears for any of them Documentation review: Followed all Apple documentation for configuring background execution modes Different regions: Tried changing portal language to English (US) Cache clearing: Logged out, cleared cookies, tried different sessions Apple Support Response: Contacted Developer Support (Case #102633509713). Received generic documentation links and was directed to Developer Forums rather than technical escalation. Has anyone else experienced the "Background Modes" capability missing from their Developer Portal? Has anyone successfully used the App Store Connect API to add background-modes when the GUI doesn't show it? What's the proper escalation path when Developer Support provides generic responses instead of technical assistance? Things I have attempted to solve this: audio_service package: Implemented as potential workaround, but still requires the system-level entitlement Manual provisioning profiles: Cannot create profiles with required entitlement if capability isn't enabled on App ID Other perhaps important facts about the environment where I am building the app: macOS Sonoma Xcode 15.x Flutter 3.5.4+ Apple Developer Program (Individual, paid)

Set Default Value for Date Picker in App Intent
Hi everyone, I have a simple question regarding App Intents. I have an intent that defines a few parameters, one of which is a Date. When the user is prompted for input, I’d like the date picker to start at a specific value (e.g., tomorrow) instead of the default current date. Is there a way to set an initial/default value for the date parameter in an App Intent? Thanks in advance for any guidance!

CNContact poster
Hi all, From what I’ve seen on forums and other sources, it appears that nothing can be done to set the contact poster programmatically. Setting the imageData property affects only the thumbnail image. Does anyone know if this is explicitly documented somewhere? I need this information for a POC document. I watched the iOS 17 keynote (where it was introduced), the Platform State of Union, and other WWDC videos, but I couldn’t find any mention of it. The Contacts framework documentation only explains what can be retrieved from this property and doesn’t mention any way to set the contact poster. If anyone has any information on this, please help! Thanks in advance!

Device Activity Privacy Restrictions
Hey there! So, I'm trying to see what I'm able to do with the Device Activity Report Extension, and I have a few questions about the following quote: To protect the user’s privacy, your extension runs in a sandbox. This sandbox prevents your extension from making network requests or moving sensitive content outside the extension’s address space. In particular, what constitutes the address space for this extension? Can I save data to a UserDefaults object that only the extension can access? (Apps like Opal allow the user to label apps as "distracting" and "non-distracting", and I'm wondering how they do that!) From what I've read, I believe it cannot write to a shared app group or model (and I just want to confirm this) It also seems that there's nothing preventing it from reading data from the main app, so I'm just wondering if it's able to read data from an app group or model with no problem. Thanks in advance!

Screen Time API: How to map bundleIdentifier to ApplicationToken for DeviceActivityMonitor when FamilyActivitySelection.Application.bundleIdentifier is nil?
I'm using FamilyActivityPicker to get consent for app/category management, which returns a FamilyActivitySelection object. I serialize this FamilyActivitySelection object (just applicationTokens and categoryTokens) and pass it to my DeviceActivityMonitor extension via App Group UserDefaults. I am using the JSON encoder/decoder over PropertyList (though both seem to exhibit the same behavior). After inspecting the FamilyActivitySelection object immediately after it's returned by FamilyActivityPicker in the main app, the application.bundleIdentifier property is consistently nil for every Application object within selection.applications. Similarly, category.localizedDisplayName is nil for ActivityCategory objects. This happens whether "Select All Apps" is used or if apps/categories are selected individually. I understand that this is the intended behavior due to Apple's user privacy policies. I read on another post that my app can be provided with bundle identifiers and app names within Shield Configuration extensions and Device Activity Report extensions - I'm not sure which ones or how exactly to do this. I am aware that I can use Label(applicationToken) SwiftUI view to display the app name/icon, but this doesn't give programmatic access to the bundleIdentifier string. My app will not log or export these bundleIdentifiers outside of its sandbox. My goal is to create mappings to the FamilyActivitySelection with the publicly accessible bundleIdentifiers. Any guidance, examples, or clarification on the intended workflow for this scenario would be greatly appreciated!

Extract raw Screen Time data? Security says it's 'expected'
Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the intended privacy limits of the DeviceActivityReportExtension. According to the documentation and the WWDC21 session "Meet the Screen Time API", this extension was created specifically to prevent the host application from accessing the user's underlying activity data (websites visited, app usage, screen time, etc). But I have found that my host app is actually able to reconstruct this raw activity data from the activity report. I am able to extract specific visited websites and app usage durations back into the main app. I reported this to Apple Security (Case ID: OE1100504480881 ), assuming it was a sandbox bypass. However, they closed the ticket stating that this is "expected behavior" and requires no fix. My question for Screen Time Engineers: Is the documentation incorrect? If my host app is expected to be able to read this data, is there a formal API we should be using instead of extracting it from the report extension? The current behavior contradicts the privacy limits described in the documentation, so I am confused if I should rely on this data access for my app features or if it will be patched later. Thanks.

Problems running the "Paloalto GlobalProtect" app on iOS iPhone
When connecting SSLVPN through the "Paloalto GlobalProtect" app on an iOS iPhone, I try to connect through my Google Workspace account. During this process, an error occurs when logging in after entering my Google account. The error is as follows. The Paloalto Networks TAC Support team recommends that you contact Apple Support. When connecting SSLVPN through the "Paloalto GlobalProtect" app on an Android device, I can log in normally with my Google account. It only doesn't work on iOS iPhones. ~/Downloads/GPSupportInfo/Agent.log:119: 2024-12-16 14:08:08.047 GlobalProtect[4402:1352815] Error: (ManagerUtils.mm:566) Send message failed: GlobalProtect, error: Error Domain=NEVPNErrorDomain Code=1 "(null)" ~/Downloads/GPSupportInfo/Agent.log:119: 2024-12-16 14:08:08.047 GlobalProtect[4402:1352815] Error: (ManagerUtils.mm:566) Send message failed: GlobalProtect, error: Error Domain=NEVPNErrorDomain Code=1 "(null)" ~/Downloads/GPSupportInfo/Agent.log:119: 2024-12-16 14:08:08.047 GlobalProtect[4402:1352815] Error: (ManagerUtils.mm:566) Send message failed: GlobalProtect, error: Error Domain=NEVPNErrorDomain Code=1 "(null)" ~/Downloads/GPSupportInfo/Agent.log:119: 2024-12-16 14:08:08.047 GlobalProtect[4402:1352815] Error: (ManagerUtils.mm:566) Send message failed: GlobalProtect, error: Error Domain=NEVPNErrorDomain Code=1 "(null)" Paloalto said that it is the same as the content of the Apple Developer Forum below and told me to contact Apple Support. https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/25928 Please tell me how to solve this problem.

Message Filter Extension Not Triggering on iPhone 12 Pro (iOS 16.7) but Works on iPhone 11 (iOS 16.6)
Hi Team, We’re encountering a device-specific issue with our SMS Message Filter extension. The extension works as expected on an iPhone 11 running iOS 16.6, but it does not trigger on an iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 16.7. Key Observations: The extension is implemented using ILMessageFilterExtension and calls messageFilterOffline(appGroupIdentifier:for:) from our shared library. The App Group is properly configured and accessible across the app and extension. The extension is enabled under Settings > Messages > Unknown & Spam. There are no crashes or error logs reported on the affected device. The issue is consistently reproducible — it works on one device but not the other. We’re wondering if this could be a regression or a device-specific behavior change introduced in iOS 16.7. Has anyone encountered similar inconsistencies in Message Filter extensions across different iOS versions or device models? Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Device Activity monitor extension Not working
anyone has the same problem which is that your device activity extension ain't working even tho all the code work perfectly in the console, I setup it in the right way , tried to make schedule and it did the same exact thing when I tried to create usage threshold. anyone know the reason for this bug? here is my extension code import ManagedSettings import FamilyControls import Foundation import OSLog import UserNotifications class MonitoringExtension: DeviceActivityMonitor { private let defaults = UserDefaults(suiteName: "group.com.William.app") private let logger = Logger(subsystem: "com.William.app", category: "MonitoringExtension") override func eventDidReachThreshold(_ event: DeviceActivityEvent.Name, activity: DeviceActivityName) { let activityRaw = activity.rawValue logger.info("Limite atteinte: \(activityRaw)") scheduleNotification(title: "Limite dépassée", body: "Tu as utilisé trop de temps sur \(activityRaw).") guard let data = defaults?.data(forKey: "\(activityRaw)_selection"), let selection = try? JSONDecoder().decode(FamilyActivitySelection.self, from: data) else { logger.warning("Pas de sélection pour \(activityRaw)") return } let store = ManagedSettingsStore() // ← LE SEUL QUI MARCHE store.shield.applications = selection.applicationTokens if !selection.categoryTokens.isEmpty { store.shield.applicationCategories = .specific(selection.categoryTokens) } logger.info("BLOCAGE ACTIF via ManagedSettingsStore.default") } override func intervalDidEnd(for activity: DeviceActivityName) { super.intervalDidEnd(for: activity) let store = ManagedSettingsStore() store.clearAllSettings() // ← Débloque à minuit logger.info("Restrictions levées à la fin de l'intervalle") } private func scheduleNotification(title: String, body: String) { UNUserNotificationCenter.current().requestAuthorization(options: [.alert, .sound]) { granted, _ in guard granted else { return } let content = UNMutableNotificationContent() content.title = title content.body = body let request = UNNotificationRequest(identifier: UUID().uuidString, content: content, trigger: nil) UNUserNotificationCenter.current().add(request) } } }

Possible to access CoreData/Persistent storage from DeviceActivityReportExtension?
This is more a general question of whether it is possible to share persistent/coredata from the main app to Screentime-related extensions such as DeviceActivityReportExtension. I've set my code up (e.g., App Groups, files to different targets, using nspersistentcontainer with app group url, etc.) in a way that it builds, and the extension seems to recognize my CoreData schema (able to query using fetchrequest). But the data returned is always null. So i'm wondering if it is even possible to READ app data from the extension. I understand it is not possible to write or pass data from the extension back to the app. I've also been able to read data that was saved in main app from UserDefaults in my extension.

Associated domain not recognised
I have a public and accessible .well-known/apple-app-site-association file for both my domain.com and subdomain.domain.com with "paths": ["*"] . Both example.com and blog.example.com are added in Associated domains and any link that contains domain.com and domain.com/path normally deep links into my app. I used to have an *.example.com that successfully deep linked all my subdomains into my app but now I had to remove it as some subdomains will need to link to other apps, but some should still link to the same app. I removed * but left blog.example.com as that specific subdomain still needs to deep link into my app. But now blog.example.com is not even being recognized by my app and any link starting with blog.example.com just opens in safari. What am I missing? Why is this happening ?

Critical SKAdNetwork Attribution
Subject/Title: Critical SKAdNetwork Attribution Failures (Bug Type: 237, Failure Type: 1201 in ASDErrorDomain) Issue Summary We are encountering repeated SKAdNetwork attribution failures (failureType: 1201 in ASDErrorDomain) for ad impression events processed through the ad network mj797d8u6f.skadnetwork. These failures are causing significant revenue losses, as ad impressions are not being properly attributed to installs. The issue occurs across multiple campaigns and involves both SKAdNetwork API 3.0 and 4.0, suggesting a systemic problem with attribution validation or network communication. This problem is critical as it disrupts advertisers’ ability to track conversions, optimize campaigns, and allocate budgets effectively. Technical Details Key Logs: Below are anonymized samples of the failed SKAdNetwork events: Log Sample 1 (Failure): { "bug_type": "237", "timestamp": "2025-01-07 22:49:15.00 -0500", "os_version": "iPhone OS 18.2.1 (22C161)", "roots_installed": 0, "incident_id": "78523BD9-1F58-4738-B526-8A8A63203214" } { "advertisementStoryId": "3D2E7EBB-1A57-4DF8-9375-2C465F423038", "apiVersion": "3.0", "eventType": "adImpression", "resultType": "finalized", "anonymous": true, "failureType": 1201, "failureDomain": "ASDErrorDomain", "clientEventId": "0F456623-584F-4913-BBD3-C3FD1219D104", "os": "iOS", "topic": "xp_amp_skad_perf", "adType": "app", "adNetworkId": "mj797d8u6f.skadnetwork", "eventTime": 1736305200000, "osBuildNumber": "22C161", "hardwareFamily": "iPhone", "api": "SKAdNetwork" } Log Sample 2 (Failure): { "bug_type": "237", "timestamp": "2025-01-07 22:49:15.00 -0500", "os_version": "iPhone OS 18.2.1 (22C161)", "roots_installed": 0, "incident_id": "0CBF612D-F0D9-449E-A34E-DE2DB92BEC0D" } { "advertisementStoryId": "946E568C-D2C1-478F-BFF3-4996C48F9B39", "apiVersion": "3.0", "eventType": "adImpression", "resultType": "finalized", "anonymous": true, "failureType": 1201, "failureDomain": "ASDErrorDomain", "clientEventId": "1A3D48FB-4452-4FD8-BB25-1195470A53DC", "os": "iOS", "topic": "xp_amp_skad_perf", "adType": "app", "adNetworkId": "mj797d8u6f.skadnetwork", "eventTime": 1736298000000, "osBuildNumber": "22C161", "hardwareFamily": "iPhone", "api": "SKAdNetwork" } Log Sample 3 (Success Example for Comparison): { "bug_type": "237", "timestamp": "2025-01-07 22:49:15.00 -0500", "os_version": "iPhone OS 18.2.1 (22C161)", "roots_installed": 0, "incident_id": "BFEAC86B-8195-4DB0-96FF-2028107256AD" } { "advertisementStoryId": "946E568C-D2C1-478F-BFF3-4996C48F9B39", "apiVersion": "3.0", "eventType": "adImpression", "resultType": "finalized", "anonymous": true, "clientEventId": "F6265488-E0FB-448A-A406-3F7254BCA9D7", "os": "iOS", "topic": "xp_amp_skad_perf", "adType": "app", "adNetworkId": "mj797d8u6f.skadnetwork", "eventTime": 1736294400000, "osBuildNumber": "22C161", "hardwareFamily": "iPhone", "api": "SKAdNetwork" } Failure Details: Failure Type: 1201 Failure Domain: ASDErrorDomain Ad Network ID: mj797d8u6f.skadnetwork API Versions Affected: 3.0, 4.0 Timeframe of Failures: All logs occur within 2025-01-07 22:00:00 UTC to 23:00:00 UTC. Environment: OS Version: iOS 18.2.1 (Build 22C161). Device Type: iPhone (hardwareFamily: iPhone). App Configuration: Includes the ad network ID in the Info.plist under SKAdNetworkItems. Impact Details Financial Loss: Based on failure rates, we estimate $20–$65/day per advertiser for small campaigns and $75–$375/day per advertiser for larger campaigns. If 100 advertisers are affected, daily losses range from $2,000–$37,500. Over a week, losses could exceed $70,000 to $262,500 or more. Operational Impact: Advertisers cannot track installs or optimize campaigns, leading to inefficient ad spending and potential budget reallocation to other networks. Damaged trust between advertisers and the ad network. Reputation Risk: Continued failures harm the credibility of the SKAdNetwork framework, critical in a post-ATT (App Tracking Transparency) ecosystem. Steps to Reproduce Serve an ad impression through the ad network mj797d8u6f.skadnetwork. Monitor SKAdNetwork attribution for that impression. Observe repeated failures (failureType: 1201) despite the resultType: finalized status. Recommendations for Investigation Attribution Timeout: Verify if these failures stem from delayed responses or missed attribution windows. Ad Network Configuration: Confirm the ad network’s integration complies with SKAdNetwork API 3.0 and 4.0 requirements. Infrastructure Review: Investigate potential bottlenecks or failures in Apple’s attribution servers (ASDErrorDomain) or communication delays.
