Apple Pay Domain Verification: .txt Extension Confusion
Hi all, I’m running into a confusing issue with Apple Pay domain verification. Apple’s documentation says to host the verification file at: https://yourdomain.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association And the portal itself seems to expect the file to be served with .txt extension during verification. My first verification passed, but subsequent checks are failing — and I’m wondering if this mismatch is the cause. Should I Keep the .txt and configure my server to serve it at both paths? Would appreciate any insights or official clarification. Thanks!

Renewal of merchant Domains fails and redirects to main page without errors
Hello we are trying to renew our certificates. We are trying to extend the dates of verified domains following the docs https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applepayontheweb/maintaining-your-environment#Renew-Your-Domain-Verification and configure our server with https://developer.apple.com/documentation/ApplePayontheWeb/setting-up-your-server We've downloaded the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt and update it on their respective locations, click 'ok' button but we get redirected to the main page of the information of the merchant, and it shows the domains without the extending period of time. No popup showing what has failed or what could be the reason of this error, we only get a redirection to the main page.

Apple Pay on the Web Merchant Validation Intermittent 403 Forbidden
We are experiencing intermittent 403 Forbidden errors during Apple Pay on web merchant validation in our production and sandbox environment. Has anyone else started seeing 403 Forbidden errors recently (since mid-2025)? Why would merchant validation be sometimes successful and sometimes fail with 403? Could this be related to new Apple Pay gateway changes or stricter validation rules? Any additional debug steps or permanent solutions we should try? Thank you.

Payment sheet will not show in second payment
I developed a web app using .net c#. The app runs a workflow which included Apple payment. App can work on any browser of any device (even non-IOS). When the app is browsed using PC windows Chrome browser, the payment sheet will show with QR code to scan using iPhone. If I cancelled the pop-up by clicking on X without scanning the code, and then returned to idle screen and performed another payment, I will reach paymentRequest.Show() but nothing will show and no errors are logged in console. Note that: I use Payment Request API The issue appear on the second payment. The issue will be solved once I refresh the page. My app supports both single and separate pages mode and issue appear on both. I used to see an error "Uncaught NotSupportedError: Failed to execute 'define' on 'CustomElementRegistry': the name apple spinner has already been used with this registry. So I thought the issue might be in loading the apple SDK script multiple times, and solved the issue to be loaded only once. The error disappeared but the issue persist without errors.

Gathering Required Information for Troubleshooting Wallet Issues
Hi, To ensure the issue is not caused by an error within your app or web service request, please review the following documentation: Wallet Passes Wallet Developer Guide If the resources above don’t help identify the cause of the error, please provide more information about your app or web services to get started. To prevent sending sensitive credentials in plain text, create a report in Feedback Assistant to share the details requested below. Additionally, if the error is something we need to investigate further, the appropriate engineering teams also have access to the same information and can communicate with you directly within Feedback Assistant for more information, as needed. Please follow the instructions below to submit your report. For issues occurring with your native app or web service, perform the following steps: Install the Wallet profile on your iOS or watchOS device. Reproduce the issue and make a note of the timestamp when the issue occurred, while optionally capturing screenshots or video. Gather a sysdiagnose on the same iOS or watchOS device. Create a Feedback Assistant report with the following information: The serial number of the device. Open Settings > General > About > Serial Number (tap and hold to copy). The SEID (Secure Element Identifier) of the device, represented as a HEX encoded string. Open Settings > General > About > SEID (tap and hold to copy). The sysdiagnose gathered after reproducing the issue. The .pkpass file(s), pass signing certificate(s) and pass type identiifier(s) (optional). The timestamp of when the issue was reproduced. Screenshots or videos of errors and unexpected behaviors (optional). Important: From the logs gathered above, you should be able to determine the cause of the failure from PassbookUIService, PassKit or PassKitCore, and by filtering for your SEID or pass type identifier in the Safari Web Inspector. See Inspecting Safari on macOS to learn more. Submitting your feedback Before you submit to Feedback Assistant, please confirm the requested information above is included in your feedback. Failure to provide the requested information will only delay my investigation into the reported issue within your Wallet pass implementation. After your submission to Feedback Assistant is complete, please respond in your existing Developer Forums post with the Feedback ID. Once received, I can begin my investigation and determine if this issue is caused by an error within your web implementation, a configuration issue within your developer account, or an underlying system bug. Handling Empty in_app Data in iOS Order Verification and Verification Result in receipt.app_item_id
Body: Hello, We are currently implementing iOS order verification and have encountered an issue. Some of the receipts we verify return with an empty in_app array, which makes it impossible to determine whether there is a valid in-app purchase. Below is the code we’re using for verification and the result we receive: Code Example: public function iosVerifyReceipt($receipt, $password = '', $sandbox = false) { $url = $sandbox ? 'https://sandbox.itunes.apple.com/verifyReceipt' : 'https://buy.itunes.apple.com/verifyReceipt'; if (empty($password)) { $data = json_encode(['receipt-data' => $receipt]); } else { $data = json_encode(['receipt-data' => $receipt, 'password' => $password]); } $ch = curl_init($url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data); $result = curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); $result = json_decode($result, true); $result = $result ?? []; $result['sandbox'] = $sandbox; if ($result['status'] != 0) { Log::warning('ios verify receipt failed', ['receipt' => $receipt, 'result' => $result, 'sandbox' => $sandbox]); if ($result['status'] == 21007) { return $this->iosVerifyReceipt($receipt, $password, true); } } return $result; } // Order validation check if (empty($result) || $result['status'] != 0) { throw new BadRequestHttpException("Ios Order Verify Error"); } $appItemId = $result['receipt']['app_item_id'] ?? ""; if ($appItemId != MY_APP_ID) { throw new BadRequestHttpException("Ios Order Verify Error"); } $inApp = array_filter($result['receipt']['in_app'] ?? [], function ($item) use ($transactionId, $order) { return $item['transaction_id'] == $transactionId && $item['product_id'] == $order->getProductId(); }); if (empty($inApp)) { throw new BadRequestHttpException("Ios Order Verify Error"); } Array ( [receipt] => Array ( [receipt_type] => Production [adam_id] => * [app_item_id] => * [bundle_id] => * [application_version] => * [download_id] => * [version_external_identifier] => * [receipt_creation_date] => 2025-02-11 04:06:47 Etc/GMT [receipt_creation_date_ms] => * [receipt_creation_date_pst] => 2025-02-10 20:06:47 America/Los_Angeles [request_date] => 2025-02-11 15:54:56 Etc/GMT [request_date_ms] => * [request_date_pst] => 2025-02-11 07:54:56 America/Los_Angeles [original_purchase_date] => 2025-02-11 04:02:41 Etc/GMT [original_purchase_date_ms] => * [original_purchase_date_pst] => 2025-02-10 20:02:41 America/Los_Angeles [original_application_version] => 5511 [preorder_date] => 2025-01-17 21:12:28 Etc/GMT [preorder_date_ms] => * [preorder_date_pst] => 2025-01-17 13:12:28 America/Los_Angeles [in_app] => Array ( ) ) [environment] => Production [status] => 0 [sandbox] => ) Problem Description: • We are noticing that in some orders, the in_app array is returned as empty. This causes difficulty in verifying the presence of in-app purchases. • Our validation logic assumes that if in_app is empty, the order is invalid, but we would like clarification on whether this is correct or if such a scenario is normal under certain conditions. Actions Taken: • We have reviewed Apple’s documentation and other related resources, but no clear explanation is given about when in_app might be empty. • Can we safely rely on an empty in_app array to consider the order invalid, or should we investigate further for potential issues like delays or errors during the verification process? We would appreciate your guidance on how to handle such cases. Thank you for your support!

Apple Pay button not clickable in Safari for some users
Hello, We’re seeing an issue where the Apple Pay button is visible in Safari but not clickable for certain users, while it works normally for others. This happens on our site (https://store-qa2.enphase.com/ ) as well as on other sites for the same affected users. Currently, we display the Apple Pay button based on the following condition: Boolean(window.ApplePaySession) && ApplePaySession.canMakePayments(); For affected users, the button shows up as expected, but it’s not interactive. All users (both affected and unaffected) are on the latest versions of Safari and macOS/iOS. Could someone clarify what additional conditions Safari/Apple Pay requires for the button to be fully functional? And under what circumstances could it be visible but not clickable?

Domain verification
Hello! We are using "Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API" https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applepaywebmerchantregistrationapi Recently we successfully updated the Payment/identity certificates at our main merchant ID And we have a few questions: Do we need make the Domain verification for all of our sub-merchants again after the Certificates update? How we can check the expiration of domain verification of merchants that we integrate trough API endpoint (https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/registerMerchant), and do verified domains via API have an expiration date??? How we can understand does the our universal domain verification file (apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association) have expiration too? Thanks in advance!

suppressing express mode when using widget
we are currently using the requestAutomaticPassPresentationSuppression API in my app. to prevent the Wallet interface from appearing when an NFC/RF reader is detected during active app usage. Recently, a new transit card supporting Express Mode (T-money Transit Card) was released in Korea, and we are seeing an increasing number of users enabling Express Mode. However, this has introduced an issue where users are unable to use the BLE-based functionality we provide via our widget. Specifically, when the user taps our widget, it triggers a BLE signal broadcast for approximately 10 seconds. In this scenario, when the user brings their iPhone close to our reader, Express Mode is activated before the BLE interaction can be established. This prevents the BLE signal from being successfully received and processed. We would like to ask: Is it possible to suppress Express Mode behavior (similar to requestAutomaticPassPresentationSuppression) even when the app is launched via a widget interaction? Alternatively, is there any way to delay or defer Express Mode activation temporarily when launching from a widget or during BLE communication? We would appreciate any guidance or best practices you can share regarding this scenario. Thank you.

Does apple make commission on payments made to peers using external processing like Stripe for physical services
So I'm wondering if Apple makes commission on those payments since they're made in the app. For example a user may pay another user to clean their car. This will be handled with Stripe Connect and their balance, payment history, etc will be displayed in the app. Does Apple charge commission on that? The section the app review guidelines that I'm refrencing is below, but I'm still a little confused. 3.1.3(e) Goods and Services Outside of the App: If your app enables people to purchase physical goods or services that will be consumed outside of the app, you must use purchase methods other than in-app purchase to collect those payments, such as Apple Pay or traditional credit card entry.

Issuer Functional Requirements Apple Pay Specifications Version 3.5
I'm seeking clarification on how Requirement 4.1 ("Card Issuers with a Mobile App must support In-App provisioning") applies when the card issuer uses a third-party mobile banking platform rather than a self-developed app. Our situation: We are a small credit union (the card issuer) Our mobile banking app is provided by a third-party digital banking vendor (white-label, but branded with our name) Card processing is handled by a separate vendor The ambiguity: The Apple Pay Specifications define "Card Issuer Mobile App" as: "The Card Issuer-branded, iOS software application made available on a Device that is used by such Card Issuer's customers to manage, administer, or use Cards." Our mobile banking app meets this definition—it's branded with our name and used by our members to manage their accounts and cards. However, we don't develop or directly control the app; our digital banking vendor does. The webinar FAQ stated: "Do we have to implement in-app provisioning? Yes, if you have an app." Our digital banking vendor interprets this as not applying to them because they are "not the issuer." They've stated: "Apple's requirements are at the card-processor level... our credit unions and, by extension, we are not required to support Apple Pay's in-app provisioning." Our card processor has indicated they will support in-app provisioning integrations but notes "this would be digital provisioning and we would need the digital banking vendor to work with us to enable." Specific questions: When a card issuer uses a third-party mobile banking app (branded for the issuer but developed/maintained by a vendor), does Requirement 4.1 apply? If yes, who bears compliance responsibility—the issuer, the mobile app vendor, or both? If the mobile app vendor does not implement in-app provisioning by January 15, 2026, what is the issuer's exposure? Does the issuer face suspension from the Program due to vendor non-compliance? Is there an alternative compliance path under Requirement 4.8 (Web Provisioning) for issuers whose mobile app vendors cannot deliver in-app provisioning by the deadline? This scenario likely affects hundreds of small financial institutions using shared digital banking platforms. Clarity on vendor vs. issuer responsibility would help the entire ecosystem prepare appropriately. Thank you.

[In Chrome] Clicking "Close Button" in Apple Pay Popup doesn't fire "oncancel" callback
After opening the Apple Pay Popup and try to close the popup (without scanning the QR Code), the oncancel handler (accociated with the created session) doesn't fire. Meanwhile if the merchant scanned the QR code and the UI of the popup changed, then cancel the popup manually (using close (X) button), it fires the session.oncancel event handler. Here is applied setup: const { ApplePaySession } = window; if (!(ApplePaySession && ApplePaySession.canMakePayments())) { return new Error('Apple Pay Session is not available'); } const paymentCapabilities = await ApplePaySession.applePayCapabilities( applePaymentOptionsMetaData.merchantIdentifier, ); if (paymentCapabilities.paymentCredentialStatus === 'applePayUnsupported') { console.error('ApplePaySession is not supported.'); return; } const request = { "countryCode": "KW", "currencyCode": "KWD", "merchantCapabilities": [ "supports3DS" ], "supportedNetworks": [ "VISA", "MASTERCARD" ], "billingContact": { "phoneNumber": "201000000000", "emailAddress": "example@test.com", "givenName": "Ahmed", "familyName": "Sharkawy" }, "total": { "amount": "3.085", "label": "Merchant Testing" } } const session = new ApplePaySession(5, request); session.onvalidatemerchant = async event => { if (debug) { console.info('Creating merchant session and validating merchant session'); console.info('onvalidatemerchant event', event); } try { // Validation Merchant Request session.completeMerchantValidation(data); } catch (error: any) { session.completePayment({ status: ApplePaySession.STATUS_FAILURE }); } }; session.onpaymentauthorized = async (event) => { session.completePayment({ status: ApplePaySession.STATUS_SUCCESS }); }; // This doesn't fire session.oncancel = () => { console.info('EVENT: oncancel'); }; session.begin();

Apple Wallet Push Token length
For the pushToken sent by APNS to register a wallet pass for update notifications, is there a max length or size that APNS will send? I save the token in my database and have it defined as varchar(256), but I have had some instances where the pushToken is larger than that. I'd like to know if there's an absolute max size that APNS will send. Then I'll know if I should reject requests with tokens larger than what's expected, and/or if I need to make the token size larger in the database.

Obtaining documentation for In-App Provisioning after receiving entitlement
We are an issuer attempting to implement In-App Provisioning of Payment Cards leveraging Mastercard MDES and have successfully obtained our entitlement from Apple, but have not received the documentation titled "Getting Started with Apple Pay In-App Provisioning, Verification & Security". The latest copy I have found has been via Scribd for a version 3.0 from June 2020. I've tried contacting Apple Support and the In-App Provisioning Entitlements group but have had no luck. Thank you!

Inquiry about apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt Security and Access
I have a question regarding the file apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt. I understand that this file is used during API access for Apple Pay Web payments. However, is it necessary for our company to access this file during the payment process? Also, this domain validation file is expected to be placed in the publicly accessible “.well-known” folder on our web server. Is it acceptable for this file to remain readable by third parties on the Internet, including Apple’s servers, without posing any security risks? Since this file is generated during domain registration on the Apple Developer site and is unique to our domain, we believe there should be no security concerns even if accessed by third parties. However, are there any specific security requirements for this domain validation file? Please note that the domain validation has already been successfully completed. We appreciate your time and look forward to your guidance. Best regards,

I am trying to do a mass enablement of a merchant ids for a psp. The ids have been approved by apple. I am attempting to add more using the Post Request: https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/registerMerchant (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applepaywebmerchantregistrationapi/register_merchant) but am always getting a Refuse to connect error. What authentication is required to get a 200 successful response?
